I'll add that I wanted to rent chair and umbrella. I did learn you have to do that prior to going down to the beach because they are not able to read cards. It wasn't too crowded on a Thursday afternoon 3pm. My grand had a great time. The pier is about 2.4 miles down the beach and you can see it from the park. Life guard is on duty till 6:30 and they leave chairs and umbrella till about sundown. You can remain however long . They are currently 15.$ chair and 25$ for the umbrella. We didn't get anything from the snack bar so not sure what they have or prices. Plenty of parking it seems at least at the time I went and it was $15 and I was told I could come and go with my receipt. There is a ramp for handicap accessibility . It was a very nice day trip.

Golf carts are welcomed on the local streets allowing for easy beach and eatery access especially if you don't have beach from accomodations. There are several public beach access points that do require paid parking in the near proximity. ***There is also free street parking if you dont mind the walk. There is also a state beach park on the south end of Folly thata really nice with showers, rest rooms, gift shop and etc. last best thing about Folly is they allow wind shades such as Shibumi. Go check out Folly, you won't be disappointed. I promise!

This is a little escape that offers so much in so little space…read more The pier is long and scenic with a beautiful view of Folly River. The park is used for holiday lights, markets and concerts. There are a few benches and swings to relax. There are two restrooms. Even tables to sit and eat. We've even seen band practice a few times. Solid chill park!!!!

This pier has been updated and is typically open during daylight hours now and it worth a walk out…read moreto the end over the marsh. The bathrooms seem to be open more often now and have been painted, so look neat. Not as nice or as big as the Folly main pier but still a nice walk.

That said, if you're willing to drive a half hour or so from Charleston across James Island and across the Folly Island causeway and then a couple of miles parallel to Folly Beach to get to the gate at the entrance to the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve https://www.yelp.com/biz/lighthouse-inlet-heritage-preserve-folly-beach?hrid=fwYKXGE-nutYG9bRU9dKgw and then walk a half mile or so down a graffiti road and then a few hundred yards of sand, you can get to a point where you can actually SEE the lighthouse. Was all of that journey worth it? Unquestionably so. A great addition to my Lighthouses collection https://www.yelp.com/collection/GLWJhPZloUBCLUFSYgLw4g. Standing at the entrance to Charleston harbor since 1767 and updated many times since then, the lighthouse has suffered from the erosion caused by rerouting the Ashley, Cooper and Wando Rivers. It used to be *on* the island and now it *is* the island. It's also been damaged by storms including Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and Hurricane Irma in 2017. The lighthouse is closed to the public and as far as I know, the small amount of space at the base is also off limits. There is a cool spiderweb looking climbing thingy, a swing set, rotating chairs, and a seesaw. There is plenty or room to run around and lots of shade. A Folly playground would not be complete without a gazebo, of course, and a little free library as well. One cool thing about this place is the water bottle refill station upfront. With lots of cool surfboard art hanging on the fences to complete the feel, this playground is sure to please!

Really nice pier! There is parking right in front of the pier, we went in October so it was off…read moreseason and only 10$ a day. Not sure what it is during peak season. There is a restaurant right when you walk up that has outdoor seating, live music and a separate bar area. There are public bathrooms but they were pretty dirty when I went. We have not tried the restaurant yet, but the food smells good we will try it next time. The bar looks awesome but it closed early at 8pm on a Saturday so I was not able to try it. The views are beautiful and the pier is huge. Lots of seating and benches, you can also fish on the pier but you need a license. Definitely visit the pier if you are in Folly! We will be back.
