Been coming here for years. Best authentic Mexican you can find in the area without going to a Mexican mamas house. I always get the steak milanesa with beans and rice! YUM! And their hot habanero is totally amazing! I moved to another state and find myself dreaming of this place lol I drive back sometimes just for Rosalinda's. Great food 4.5 stars Service not so great 2.5 stars I don't know if they were just short staffed on the day I ate there but service was very slow and not at all friendly. When I arrived, the hostess/server asked me if I wanted to sit at a 4 top but since I was dining alone I told her I would sit at the 2 top by the door, thinking I would "save" the larger table for a larger party. Unfortunately, she didn't come back to bring me a menu for quite a while. When she finally brought my menu, I asked for a water while I decided what to order. She never brought my water. Another patron came in behind me & she immediately brought him a water. I ordered a pineapple soda and she never brought that either until I flagged her down, which I hate doing. I also noticed she took chips & salsa to all other tables but "forgot" mine until I asked. So, when I ordered my entree, I asked if it was served with beans & rice. She answered yes. But it was served only with white rice. The food was very good. I enjoyed my meal. Just not the service. read more

Fonda Rosalinda is a restaurant that has been on my Greenville bucket list for years, especially since I was looking forward to trying more authentic Mexican food atypical of many of the more popular Mexican restaurants around town. I was so looking forward to it, and went with my mom, who'd been a few years back and had nothing but great things to say about it. Not to mention the best Mexican food that you can taste the love in every bite! This is not Tex Mex! This is what I expect every time I go to Mexico, but yet so elevated! Great family-owned restaurant tucked in the back of a shopping center. I would have never seen this place if it wasn't for Yelp. Everything we ate was so fresh, and the black beans were the best we've ever had! Keep in mind, if you order the guacamole and ask for it "spicy," it comes out SPICY! Don't let that deter you though, every bite is delicious. The prices are definitely a little higher than they would be at a typical Mexican restaurant, but you're paying for the freshest, made from scratch foods. One of the first restaurants I've eaten at in Greenville. I'm a huge yelp fan so I came here based on how good the reviews were on yelp. Let me tell you, they were all 100% correct. Don't be fooled by rosa's appearance from the outside, once you get in, you'll feel welcome, and just feel like your business is appreciated. With having no more than 10 tables, it is a very homey feeling, a kind of mom and pop shop. It started off with me getting sweet tea. I took and sip and realized it was different than normal. I asked the waitress and she said they add cinnamon and spice. Amazing. Each entree comes with homemade soup! Fantastic! Chips were so fresh and the dip was original!! I assure you when you come here, you can count on superb homemade style food, made by people who care about their culture and business and just an all together good experience. I wish there were more of these mom and pop restaurants. read more

So glad to find a place like this close to where I live. Being from Los Angeles California I am accustomed to having a variety of Mexican joints in abundance no matter where I am in town, but Fonda Rosalinda's manages to rise above even the most authentic places I have been anywhere. All the dishes are unique and tasty, so many different sauces and proteins available in different spins on classic dishes. Some of my personal favorites include the pork chops in chipotle sauce, lamb shank in mango habanero sauce, and of course the black beans and rice they serve with most dishes are sublime. Don't forget to ask if they have any special drinks of the day. I have previously been lucky and gotten some house made horchata, hibiscus tea, and best of all the cantaloupe water. OK, so I stopped eating meat (beef, chicken, pork, fish...the whole thing) at the beginning of the year, so I wanted to go back to some of my favorite places and let you know how they are for a vegetarian. Rosalinda's has a great selection of vegetarian choices...and unlike many "Mexican" vegetarian options, here you are not stuck with cheese enchiladas. If there were six stars, this would be the place. Authentic Mexican with a twist of flare from a great cook, chef, and owner. Small and quaint dining room...romantic, if you will. I have used Yelp for years and never felt strongly enough about a place to write a review... Until now! Rosalinda's has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Greenville! The food is fresh- so fresh that when we've ordered the guacamole (amazing) she grabs avocados to bring them to the back. I've loved every meal I've had here (lamb shank with mango habenero- spicy but delicious, quesadillas, veggie fajitas). The staff is so attentive and nice, they make you feel like family! Fresh, delicious, amazing! BYOB if you want to drink, otherwise if recommend the fresh lemonade. And seriously. Get the guacamole. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday evening. Overpriced, mediocre food in a truck-stop atmosphere. The front door was open the entire time, probably to facilitate serving the two tables outside. It also served to waft their cigarette smoke throughout the dining room. I had a Rosalinda's Margarita, guacamole, and fajita's - $27.70 . Clearly, the other reviewers have no idea what AUTHENTIC Mexican food is. This is more of the same thing you can get at any other Mexican restaurant in town, but you won't have to pay as much elsewhere, and the atmosphere could not be any worse. The restaurant is in a strip mall behind a strip mall, so it a little hard to find. There are a couple of tables out front, and eight more tables inside. The decor is an eclectic/psychotic mix of Egyptian painting, ballerinas, mirrors, neon, and whatever else they found at a yard sale somewhere. The portion sizes are all a little on the small side, and there is nothing special about the food, at all. I just do not see what everyone thinks is so impressive about this place. read more

If it weren't for the oustanding food here I would have given this place a 2 or 3 star rating - because the server who served us was terrible (in my standards). Let's go with the good first. The food. Good is an understatement. The food is fabulous, fresh and probably the best "Mexican" I've had in a long time. It's not the standard Tex-Mex that most other places serve, it's authentic Mexico City food. Lamb Shank and Sea Bass are just a few things to dot the menu. The bad: Service. One of those places that you may be afraid to try, but very good overall. Lots of AUTHENTIC Mexican food, but it can be a little hit-and-miss. I will swear on my favorite green sweater that Rosalinda's is the BEST. And the next time, I'll wonder if my take-away order and I managed to somehow fall into the blandness factory on the way home. Fantastic authentic Mexican food. My step mother is Mexican and that's how I was introduced to the wonderful world of authentic Mexican food (as opposed to Americanized Mexican food or Tex-Mex). It's comfort food with simple but incredibly delicious flavors. This is one of the best Authentic restaurants in the country, and I really mean that. The owner does all of the cooking herself and I believe the waitress is her daughter. It's a small restaurant and not fancy, but one of the best intimate dining experiences in Greenville. It's great for a date or for a small group of friends. They don't serve alcohol but let you bring your own beer and wine which is awesome. The menu is small and they do have the stuff you are used to like quesadillas, but the traditional dishes are my favorite. Everyone gets a complimentary cup of soup, and that lady cooks the best damn soup I've ever had. read more

This place was great! First time going in and i noticed the hours are i believe 12-3 for lunch opening back up at 5 for dinner. I didn't know this before going and arrived at 2:45. Didn't want to be "that guy" but had been wanting to try this place for so long. There was no one around when i walked in but there was a bell for service at the desk. I decided to to just wait until i saw someone. Was greeted by who i think was Rosalinda and she said i could grab any table so just picked a four seat in the middle. I liked the atmosphere, as it was very homey and original. Nice ambient music in the background and was brought a menu. I took a quick look over and decided on the pork (portas) tacos. Rosalinda brought me out some awesome chips (better than any place I've had in greenville) and a homemade green salsa with just the right amount of spice also a potato and leek soup. It was fantastic. She brought out the tacos which came with white rice and beans and lime for the tacos. These were also amazing. Service was excellent and was checked on multiple times. After eating one taco i wanted a little more spice and asked for a spicy salsa. Rosalinda brought out what she called their habanero sauce and warned me it was spicy. And oh was she right. It was also exactly what i needed as the spicier the better for me. The tacos only needed but a few drops of this wonderful sauce to take them to the next level. After i finished the last taco i mixed the rest of my salsa and a few drops of habanero into my rice and beans to help finish off my chips. I finished my meal and went to the desk to pay, waited a minute or two until she came out to see i was done, she told me sorry as she was getting the dinner service ready and i apologized when i told her i saw that they closed at 3 but she told me it was no problem and was glad i came in. This place was incredibly good. And i loved every minute of my meal and the friendly service by the owner. Cant wait to go back and take my family and friends to show them the awesome spot i discovered :D read more

Rosalinda's is THE most underrated restaurant in Greenville. The restaurant itself is small, but don't be fooled--the flavor and quality are huge and the food is fresh and FANTASTIC! Rosalinda has traveled the world, experienced lots of good food, and Greenville, SC is lucky enough to have her here to provide for us a completely delicious dining experience. The service is excellent, too. Both Rosa (Rosalinda's daughter) and Lauren are attentive and respectful. I've eaten there several times over the years and seriously, every single thing I've had was both unique and delicious. Her guacamole is the best I've ever had. Forget about all of those overpriced, arrogant restaurants downtown. Don't fight the Woodruff Road traffic. Come to Rosalinda's and your mouth will thank you. This is REAL, authentic Spanish food. Unlike any other place in town, nobody compares to Rosalinda's food. I used to date a chef (who owns one of those arrogant, overpriced restaurants downtown) and this is the only restaurant he would eat for Spanish food. While he wasn't such a great boyfriend, I'll forever be thankful to him for introducing me to Rosalinda's. My only complaint is the hours--I would love to be able to eat there more often! read more

Waaaaaaaaaay Up on the Flav-O-Meter The food is very special here, and it may be the most authentic Mexican food in Greenville. It is not the typical flavorless Tex-Mex with bland, greasy ground beef and too much cheese. Instead, the food here features dishes from several different regions throughout central Mexico and specializes in seafood, which we don't usually think about when we consider Mexican cuisine. The food is all made from scratch; none of it comes from cans or is processed, so it's incredibly fresh and delicious. Nor are any of the dishes prepared by frying, which they believe destroys the taste. Many dishes feature interesting and new approaches--some meats have fresh pineapple or mango added to them, for example. They have chicken, fish, and beef dishes on the menu, but you'll find more unusual items like lamb shanks there, as well. I'll admit I could never butcher one of those little guys--they're too cute--but if lamb shanks are on the plate, I'll eat them. I had a burrito with carne asada, and it was terrific. The beef strips were seasoned before cooking, which really heightened the taste, and the black beans and rice were more flavorful as well. I will definitely go back to try other dishes here. The atmosphere and decor were different than all the taquerías I've been in around Greenville; it was tasteful and understated. There weren't any giant sombreros on the walls, flags, or piñatas hanging from the ceiling. Nothing in there says "Mexico." There wasn't anyTex-Mex or Norteño music blaring on the juke box. Instead there were attractive framed pictures and nice wood paneling. There were 2 TVs going, one in the front and one in the back, but they were both silenced and pleasant music played over the speaker system. The serving area is long and skinny, like the inside of a bus, but it's big enough for moving around and certainly big enough for eating. I didn't have any trouble with bad service. In fact, I found the server (Rosalinda) to be very attentive, helpful, friendly, and she answered all of my questions with detailed explanations even while she was running around helping other customers. For refreshments they offer a selection of sodas, booze, and beer there to accompany your meal. They even sell that nasty crap horchata, if that's your thing (never, never again). Sorry, folks...having lived south of the border for several years, we know Mexican food, and found this overly priced and overly spiced. In a couple areas much junk, boxes, and crates in dining area made it look like a third rate establishment. So much junk in the bar..no bueno. The only bright spot was our waitress, a daughter, that was very personable. On a Friday night, one would expect a bit more...no...a lot more customers, having only 3 customers during our 1 plus experience. read more

I moved here from New York City where the food is excellent. Also lived in Chicago, Dallas, and grew up in L.A. ugh. ugly, small place, crowded with junk. soup was salty. two tacos were fare,... what's with the white rice served just like in Chinese joints.
