Viva Villa is a Mexican eatery/bar located on South Main St in downtown Greenville adjacent to Fluor Field. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interiors are colorfully decorated with plenty of indoor or bar area seating, and limited patio seating out front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I liked that their menu had cheaper options for food for those not looking to eat a full meal, which makes it ideal for visiting either before or after a game at the adjacent ballpark. Meals start off with complimentary chips and salsa, which is always appreciated while waiting for meals to be prepared. I went with 2 chicken quesadillas (one with grilled chicken and one with shredded chicken). I found both to be extremely flavorful, with high quality tortilla shell and wonderfully delicious cheese that hit all the right notes with me. Service was extremely quick and friendly as well. I wouldn't hesitate to return and would gladly recommend Viva Villa to others looking for good Mexican food in Greenville. read more

The Viva Special Bowl with chicken, shrimp, and veggies was FANTASTIC!! I did not even need to pour the cheese sauce on top of it because it already had such great flavor. Would not recommend this place in my honest opinion ordered carnitas with rice when recieved I saw what looked like peas (which I'm allergic too) but wasn't sure. they were not listed on the menu that the rice contained them so I thought I was good. I asked a women who worked here who was walking by to be sure she said no the rice doesn't have peas in it. so I started eating. I started feeling scratchy so I asked another waiter just to double check because of how I was feeling and he tells me yes the rice does have peas. I asked it I can get rice without and he said it all comes with peas. I mentioned to him what the other women told me that it doesnt have peas before I started eating and he froze. Asked if I wanted beans instead after I had already ate a good bit. No manager stopped by to apologize for the situation if Anything we were avoided until we had to wave someone down for the check. gladly I'm not deathly allergic and got by taking some Benadryl. please be careful if choosing this spot. read more

We ate here on a whim, but this was the best meal we had during our visit to Greenville! Everything we ordered tasted great. Our family had the carne asada plate, California burrito, 12pc coconut shrimp, and kids quesadilla plate. Portions were generous, so we had our fill plus a box of leftovers. The drinks were spot-on too, with the jamaica and sweet tea really shining. Service was professional, attentive, and friendly. We were part of a big 13-person party, and they set up the entire back dining area for us. To top it off, the prices were super reasonable. I think this place is a hidden gem, easy to walk past on the busy street especially with businesses popping up left and right. The bartender was very friendly, offered us menu suggestions and made a couple of great (and huge!) margaritas. We got the birria tacos, a carnitas taco and the chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas. Everything was great and tasted fresh. The 1st time I tried, the "au jus" was so greasy-nasty I could not use it at all-thrown away because it was a to-go order. VVMGs dipping sauce, au jus, was wonderfully tasty-just right for dipping-no slimy-greasy taste. The 3 deep fried(I think) delicious beef tacos made perfect dipping. The Coco Margarita could be addicting, it's so drooling good but you have to like sweet drinks. There's the chocolate rimmed glass with coconut stuck to it. Had to try this location downtown and we enjoyed it for lunch. I had the Carne asada lunch, which was a thin strip of nicely cooked beef with some spice. It had rice and beans and tortillas of your choice corn or flour. I think I should have had the burrito verde instead, I enjoyed that more and had Moore flavor. Rice and beans are authentic and delicious! My wife had the Pollo loco and loved the spice on the chicken. She had plenty and saved some to go! Very enjoyable and we plan to return again.
