Walking into El Tejano , I was greeted with such a heartfelt joyful greeting, I thought I was being greeted by my grandmother. That was Rosie, and let me tell you, she is overjoyed to see everyone who comes in or calls. All of the staff, honestly, were happy and attentive. This is the kind of place, I would drive an hour to eat here. Just experience Rosie's joy in my life. "But what about the food?" Everyone gets a basket of fresh fried chips and homemade salsa. I asked for the hot one. It wasn't overly spicy and I loved the fresh flavor! The menu has plenty of the standard options you see In Mexican restaurants, but they also have a few new things. I decided to try the shrimp stew. It was absolutely delicious! The the sauce tasted like it was allowed to simmer long enough to really develop those flavors, and yet the shrimp were tender (not overcooked). The stew was served with seasoned rice and refried beans. It also came with a small crispy tortilla bowl filled with lettuce, fresh guacamole and sour cream. Sitting here now. Brought us our food within 5 minutes of ordering it...no one came back by after that. Got the super dinner and my daughter got the Mexican cheeseburger kids meal. Nothing on it besides the hard shell taco and her fries tasted decent. It was just filled with lettuce beans and tomatoes. There was no pepper in the chile rolleno. The soft shell taco came out cold. The plates were hot but the food was like warm. I'm not sure if they're having an off day because the other reviews are great but I did not enjoy my experience at all. read more

We ate here and were disappointed. They have a hand written sign on the door, when you stop to read it the cashier will bang on the door and rush inside. Just so ya'll are informed... the sign says... There's a 2$ surcharge on all entrees, 1$ surcharge on all appetizers and 1$ surcharge on all sides. They are friendly here and it's a busy place. Maybe they are having supply issues or it was just an off night. I was not impressed with the food. Weird brown gravy on everything, a lot of the same processed cheese on everything. I had a chile Relleno. Which was a pile of gray ground meat mixed with velveeta. No chile, not a chile Relleno. The Stale taco and tostada shells were disappointing. The ground meat was unseasoned and dry. I also had a tamale, which was just a hard lump masa. No meat in it, covered in weird brown gravy. The rice and beans weren't very fresh, hard rice and dry beans. I left almost all my food on the plate and declined a box. I didn't complain, but I really expected someone to ask if it was okay. I wouldn't recommend this place, they don't seem to care about their guests. read more

I'm incredibly impressed with El Tejano! We allotted an hour & 30 mins to eat dinner to make sure we had time for hour movie. We got seated within 30 seconds and got chips, our drinks, and our ordered in within 3 minutes. We got our food within 20 minutes.i am kidding you not, a table of 5 got up and by the time they were out the door the employees had the table clean. The restaurant was super clean too! Party of 4 , we had queso & guac for appetizers plus the free chips and salsa they place on the table as you sit down. We had fajitas & burritos, tea water and margaritas.
