PROS of hiring them: - Big space to have multiple people take photos together. - Decorates booth to match your event. - Lots of props. - Charges an amazing set price for however long you wanted them. ( we had them for 8+ hrs) - He traveled an hour and set up early at the venue. - You have many layouts to choose from. ( I chose a 4×6 postcard style and he was able to play with colors of the layout to match my wedding.) - You get as many prints as you want! (Example: if 7 of you take a group photo all 7 of you can have a print!) - Always answered emails and phone calls in a timely manner. The list can go on and on. I swear you will not be disappointed! From the variety that Luxe Petals offers, I decided on the Lola because of it's timelessness and versatility. Amanda had informed me that this wall was able to be as large as I would like. Therefore we opted for the 8 x 12 ft. What I thought was unique was that the customer had a choice in selecting the size. It made my event feel more customized. The clear acrylic stands were perfect for holding my cake, macaroons, and champagne. During my wedding planning, I have been quite inspired by Australian weddings. I had seen these white acrylic risers everywhere except for America. Amanda and her team made the boxes specifically for my event. We reached out to Thistle, they were 100% responsive at first and we had a productive first…read moremeeting. After we paid them a deposit, they were not accountable. We trusted them to plan and coordinate our wedding. From there things oddly started happening that were unprofessional. A few key incidents - They volunteered to reach out to our venue with a time sensitive contract on our behalf. We told them they didn't have to but we'd appreciate it, they never reached out. - All our meeting and planning notes were never emailed to us even after they promised to send them after the meeting. We emailed them numerous times to follow up, often times we didn't get a response. - Meetings were never scheduled on a calendar, leading to no shows and confusion by them as to what time it was supposed to be. We showed up to the few meetings that were scheduled, 2 were no shows. They even sent us a list of times to confirm, when the meeting time came they no showed "they mixed us up with another client" - We were promised a vendor list, we never received one but were told tomorrow every meeting. - The general theme was lack of follow up, meetings were productive but they mean nothing without action items. They barely sent us any materials. Finally, we broke the news kindly and outlined this explaining we'd like to terminate our contract with them. I did so politely as I wanted to offer constructive critique. I wasn't mad, I was simply explaining the unprofessional behavior with examples. The response from Thistle attached continued their unprofessionalism, and was insulting admitting that they neglected our wedding due to "being too busy" and proceeding to suggest other vendors. Initially, I didn't care about getting any portion of our deposit back as I wished them well and wanted them to be successful. But if you admit that you're too busy to service us, why don't you offer the deposit back? Why did you open your books to our wedding? The response was the sole reason I'm writing this review. A response back admitting we were neglected due to being busy was an unbelievable feeling as it confirmed our suspicions rather shamelessly. It seemed like they were relieved to get us off their plate after we paid. Nothing worse than saying what they did which is other people were more important, even though we paid them the same amount too. We were promised a lot, what we got in return was non communication, a email saying they were too busy and our wedding suffered as an end result. Plus suggestion of their friends in the industry to go book with which is odd. We would never work with any of their vendor recommendations, and it's ironic considering we asked them for tons of recommendations before that they never replied to. It seems they do fine by their other clients as they are busy per their words, wish we were treated with the same respect. They aren't bad people, maybe they didn't like our wedding idea, or maybe they didn't take us seriously as their other clients which is really disappointing.

I wish I could understand what's going on with Scott but since he won't respond to my messages,…read moreI'll have to share my most recent experience with him. I found him late in 2024. You can read my review on that encounter in my last review for him. I closed out that review by stating that I was so impressed, that I left a 24-105mm f/4.0L for him to look at. At this point, I don't even remember what was wrong with it. He worked on the lens and got it back into working condition and called me. It's 71 miles from my house to his shop. I made the drive down and in the course of conversation, Scott said that he would be more than happy to sell it for me and could get up to $400 for the lens. That particular lens was the first lens that I bought for my Canon 5D. It was my only lens for at least five years. Needless to say, I did everything with it. When I returned to my local fire department as a volunteer photographer, I added a few more lenses to my arsenal included the Mark II version of the same lens. Since I didn't need the one Scott had just repaired, I asked him to sell it for me. I didn't hear from Scott for quite a while, but the lens wasn't my priority. I do a lot of volunteer work, and I had enough equipment to keep working. I called him in April of 2025 to check status, and it hadn't sold yet. We spoke briefly about lowering the price. I told him I would take $300. I didn't hear from Scott again until August when he said he had a buyer for $275. I told him that $300 was the price that we had agreed on and he said that he would "make up the difference". I didn't fall off from the turnip truck just yesterday. I know that the difference of whatever he sold it for and what I got would be his profit. But I also know that when you are selling something on consignment, you have no right to arbitrarily lower the price without the owner's permission. His "making up the difference" meant that he made less profit. He asked when I would be driving down to pick up the check. I asked Scott to simply mail it to me. Every time, I've visited him at his place of business, I've had to call to let him know when I was close and sometimes, he wouldn't be there. I know as a single person business operation, clients need your time, meetings run long, photoshoots take longer than expected. I figured getting a check by mail would be easier for both of us. In October of 2025, I called for and left a message for an update. January 30th of this year, I called and Scott told me that I should have received the check by now and that he would have to check with his bookkeeper to find out what happened to the check. Yesterday, 3/23, left a message letting him know how disappointed I was with his lack of communication. And so here I am, dropping my five-star rating for him to one-star. Next will be the Better Business Bureau. I may never see my $300 again but I don't want to see other hard-working photographers get taken for a ride.

And let me say, it was the most fun I've had, especially moving to the town and not knowing much it was nice to get out the house and socialize. Since then, I've signed up for other workshops. From helping us stay within our budget, to helping us come up with alternatives. Their assistance with the day helped make it all come together. Any issues that may have come up, I didn't even hear about because they handled it all. We had a fusion Indian/Jewish wedding, and we wanted both our heritages to be honored, which they did beautifully. I know I would have had a much harder time without them. But in actuality, they helped make our special day memorable, enjoyable and beautiful. They were fantastic and I would recommend them over and over again!
