I found the place on the way from a Motorcycle ride. I read about the hardworking couple from the reviews. Very true. The lady at the counter was very friendly and when I asked for seafood dishes next time, she suggested Shrimp with Broccoli. The woman who took my order was very nice. I honestly can't recommend this place to anyone. The Egg drop soup was OK. The wonton soup broth was bland, and the noodles were thick. Crab Rangoon pieces were very thick and chewy, barely any filling. Shrimp toast was nothing to mention. Orange beef lacked flavor. I had read really good reviews and was in the area so I stopped in. We have been in the Hudson Valley for 25 years. We lived right around the corner of Foo Kam. We were so disappointed that they closed for a little bit. But the food is great. Plentiful. The family that owns Foo Kam provide great service and hard working folks. My favorite is the fried shrimp. For some reason other Chinese food places do not do fried shrimp. Physically, this place is as underwhelming as they come. Threadbare interior, a threadbare sign outside, in a threadbare parking lot in a threadbare town. But that is just appearance - the power couple @ Foo Kam got chops. She collecting the coin, handling the orders, and packing things up - he tending to the cooking in methodical fashion. The place is clean and quiet - and the food comes out hot, fast and good. I had a fantastic shrimp egg roll, some cold sesame noodles, and a shrimp w broccoli - only complaint I have is that the shrimp dish was a bit heavy-handed on sauce - could have used a lighter touch. This is the second time I've been ill after eating carryout from Foo Kan. The first time I thought it was a fluke or unrelated, but not this time. I ordered General Tso's chicken and was ill after that. I ate cold sesame noodles for lunch the next day and was also ill after that. Ill = the D word, btw, explosive variety. The prices are great! Seems to be owned and ran by a nice family. I ordered the chicken fried rice, Mapo tofu, chicken black bean sauce and won ton soup. They gave me a free chicken lo mein. The fried rice was a yellow rice with bland chicken. The won ton soup had 4 big won tons and a flavorful broth. The Mapo tofu was bland and was not what I was expecting. This is our first time eating at this restaurant. It's right next to the caramel beverage center. We really never noticed it was there. We are in search of decent take out Chinese food for those nights when cooking is Just not going to happen. As I walked into the restaurant, I noticed how clean everything was behind the counter and in the front area. The woman behind the counter was very sweet. The chef cooking shouted out hello. They were all very nice. We ordered fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, chicken and broccoli, and beef with garlic sauce. All the dishes were hot and fresh. The sauce on the entrées was a little thick,but very tasty. The food was not greasy. All in all this is the best Chinese food takeout I have had in this area. We will be returning for our Chinese food fix. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. They make the very best Kung pao chicken in the area. Great schechuan wontons. The soups are good, combo plates are hefty! We usually get 2 meals out of the combo plates and sometimes 3 out of their large meals. The crab Rangoon leaves a little to be desired only because I prefer a lighter wrapper. Their Thai is just ok. I've tried the lomein, chicken and broccoli and fried rice; all have been better than any other spot around here for Chinese. They have hot sauce packets on the counter so you can help yourself. I just went to Foo Kam accidentally because I called the wrong number. Once I realized that I ordered from the wrong place I felt bad. So I decided to show up and get my food instead of blowing it off. IT was the most disgusting Chinese food I ever had. I just order a few appetizers. Other than being disgusting, the guy working the front was shocked that I needed sweet/sour sauce when ordering spring rolls and crab rangoons, The fry oil taste like it's been there for a month. I've been drinking beer and eating Chinese food for 20 years plus and can tolerate almost anything. This was one of the most disappointing by far. I'm going to bed wondering if I will be nauseas in the middle of the night. read more
