This place is disgusting. I was staying in a hotel in the Bronx as a visitor and decided to drop by. I bought some milk. ROTTEN!!!! I bought some fancy feast (I know this isn't the best brand to feed your cat) but my cat who I brought with me WOULDN'T EVEN EAT IT. And it has a STRANGE texture and STRANGE smell. The diet coke? My sister who is a diet coke addict wouldn't even drink it. She said it tasted strange. So the milk is rotten, the cat food is rotten, and even the soda is bad. The place is smelly, and you get hit with a pungent rotten smell immediately as you walk in. There was a thick layer of dust on the mouthwash bottles I was looking at. Disgusting. The bakery goods here looked so stale and spoiled and this place honestly is suspicious and gross. Everything about this place is vile. I didn't want to judge a place but this might not just be a Food Bazaar problem, but a Bronx problem. I door dashed milk from a 7/11 after I realized the Food Bazaar milk was ROTTEN and guess what, that 7/11 milk was even MORE ROTTEN!! And then I bought milk from a corner store to try my luck again. Guess what? NASTY SPOILED TASTE AS WELL!! Bronx -- DO BETTER! And if you're reading this and you're from the Bronx, have Bronx pride, or care about your community -- SAY SOMETHING!!! Tell the managers "the milk is ROTTEN!!!" "hey there is a thick layer of dust on the products" "the store smells ROTTEN" Be a "Karen." I am very disappointed with the treatment my sister received at Food Bazaar today at 10pm. Near closing time, she unfortunately did not have enough funds to purchase all of her items and politely told the cashier, Stephanie, that she needed to withdraw some things from her order. Instead of showing understanding or patience, Stephanie belittled her and responded with an aggressive attitude. To make matters worse, she continued bagging my sister's items and placed them directly on the floor. This is absolutely unacceptable. My sister had just given birth via Cesarean last Friday and has a massive open wound. She was forced to bend down and pick up her items to put them back in the cart, something she should not have had to do given her condition. Customer service should make clients feel welcomed, supported, and respected--especially during difficult moments. Employees do not know the personal struggles or mental state of the people they are serving. No one deserves to be rushed, mistreated, or disrespected, regardless of the time of day. Closing time is not an excuse to treat customers unfairly. Food Bazaar, please train your staff to treat customers with compassion and professionalism. Experiences like this leave a lasting negative impression and push loyal shoppers away. read more

This crazy ass Latino chick, instead of choosing/standing in one line, was inside of Food Bazaar, located on 445 East 163rd St. Bx, Ny, claiming both Express Lanes (10 items or less) for herself, to pay for her few items. Even though the guard told her to step up to the line on the right. And, when I had spoken to her about it, she escalated it. She was talking and acting crazy. When she got to aggressive and too close, I had to push her back, away from me. She responded by throwing strawberry milk at me. Telling me to meet her outside. I had paid for my food and exited Food Bazaar 2-3 minutes before her. And, to the right of Food Bazaar's exit, I had waited for her to come outside. She came outside a few minutes later and acted like she didn't see me standing to her right. I watched her go left and exit the parking lot, then she had crossed the street and entered 972 Washington Ave. She was very lucky she acted like she didn't see me. By keeping it moving. Because, if she wouldn't have, I would've been forced to turn her into a negative statistic. Right there in Food Bazaar's parking lot. And, any injuries I would have sustained, on Food Bazaar's property, I would've immediately have went to the hospital to have treated. And then, I would have filed a personal injury lawsuit against Food Bazaar, for failing to keep me safe on their property. read more

Spoiled chicken!!! be very careful with the meat department in this location, since they don't check dates and sell smelly chicken. Not once or twice but three times I got bad chicken from here, the first two times I it go but, the 3rd was it for me. After I told the manager from the floor, (who doesn't really like her job) she said she couldn't do nothing or return the money it had to be 24hrs to return it. I honestly don't care about the $9 for the chicken, but customer service was 0 .... Just be careful! read more

Went shopping here with my S/Os mother (who shops here regularly), and upon checking out and leaving the store, an employee (I think they might've been a manager?) grabbed my shoulder and said "You need to pay for that", referring to a box of beer I was carrying. I said "I did, see it has the sticker" (a bright orange "PAID" sticker), and the employee responded back to me "No you didn't", so I said "Okay, I'll grab the receipt", I showed the employee the receipt and pointed out the text that showed the beer was paid for already. She said "Oh... Give me one minute" and went back into the store and disappeared. She never came back out to apologize for accusing me of stealing.... I used to be a long time customer of this franchise until today, Sunday, December 24, 2023. I came here at about 11:00AM after completing a shopping trip at a nearby C Town where I purchase a half a gallon of milk and two bottles of white wine from a liquor store. I entered Food Bazaar with my previously purchased items since there was no bag check at the front door. I wanted to purchase turkey wings and bagged sweet yams, but did not find either items and proceeded to leave. When I left through the entrance door, the security officer at the door asked to see my receipt. I told him I did not have one because I did not purchase anything. He then asked to see the inside of my bag. I told him no, I did not have to do that. He then proceeded to get hostile and called for back up. Him and another security officer not only falsely accused me stealing in front of a large crowd of customers on Christmas Eve, but the two of them also aggressively put their hands on me and my purchased items so much so to the point that one of the officer ripped the handle of my grocery bag. I was left feeling embarrassed of having my civil rights violated. I will be handling this matter accordingly. read more

I am going to give this Food Bazaar location 3 stars because it is there for your basic food items and everyday essentials, but this location does not have the wow factor of the other locations. The location seems so dull. When I went there years ago the lighting was really bad. The lighting was so bad I felt like I was in a dungeon. Not spacious enough either. Again if you need your basic food items this is a good option for that, but for a little more variety the Food Bazaar by Concourse Plaza is a little better. read more

I was in a hurry and the line was long, but in this case there were 2 lines and the security guard did not mention or bring this up until I , the customer did. I went to the 2nd line and was accosted or yelled at by a female who was shouting profanities at me, the customer who was paying attention. I do like this market, but there are too many belligerent customers and I can see the reluctance of the guards to deal with them. But , I am a former security guard and when I come in this location, I notice things, so to speak. But I am not going to have any customers speak to me in a rude, ignorant, and belligerent manner. That is why I called security. I should have let the lady go ahead of me, but she was not paying attention that there were 2 lines not just 1 long one. This happened recently. In addition this would not have happened if ALL OR 1 OF THE SELF CHECKOUTS WERE WORKING, NONE WERE, THIS IS WHY THIS HAPPEND. I MADE A NOT ABOUT THIS LAST TIME IN MY REVIEW! On that day, I spent about $15.00, and for what i went thru, it was not worth it. I hope this is not a recurring experience. All I requested was that 1 self service checkout terminal work, not all 4 out. This is what I saw , after I made a request. I am not trying to tell management how to run the store. But I work late in evening, and when i come in , i purchase the lunch. A deli worker informed me that if I order dinner, I would have to pay a dinner price. I thank her for informing me . My husband went to the store and got this hot meal dinner and the guy in the deli stated that it was pork chops and rice which it was not he also stated that it was not spicy which it was. obviously he can't tell the difference between sausage and pork chops.. Apparently Food bazar is a popular chain store but I've never been to one and was quite blown away today when I visited this location. This location is Ginormious! it has a huge fresh produce selection, fresh fish, butcher etc. you name it they have it, and just to roam through the isles without stopping to look at anything will probably take you around 10 minutes. Prices where actually pretty cheap and they had some sweet deals too, and thus far I'd probably given this place a solid five stars, but what really appalled me was the horrendous smell that hit's your nostrils the second you walk in the front door! Man, I felt like making a 360 degree turn and running the hell out of there.... I understand that they have a open fresh fish market and butcher, but still it shouldn't of reeked like that! (I've been to many markets like this and non came even close to this) The second thing that was upsetting was that the first three workers that I asked where I could find something were only talking Spanish! Yo no hablan español!!! I mean seriously, I know that Spanish is the second language in the US, but please have your workers know English first! To sum it all up, No I am not looking forward to visit this place again, but in the event of a desperation I'd try it again. read more

I was profiled at this supermarket and wrongfully detained. The manager, Islam, accused me of stealing an item from the store. This was a traumatic and very humiliating experience. They do not check in your bags or cart at the entrance, but are very suspicious when you (especially blacks) come in to the store with it. They claim that they have the right to check bags, but there is no visible sign for customers to see. The security guards that approached me were antagonizing and unprofessional. They caused the situation to escalate because of their lack of training and unprofessionalism. They could've just checked the label on the item. The security guard told me that I should let them know if I have meat in my bag before I enter the supermarket. That is not the store's policy. The workers refused to point me to the Store Manager, and they are just as culpable. He looked at the camera and then told them to let me go. I was later informed about what I should have done in those moments, and will never allow this to happen to me again. No one came out to apologize to me. I will not be shopping at this supermarket ever again. read more

It is large, new, and clean, and offers a great selection compared to other supermarkets in the area. But it has two main downfalls, the parking lot and the size of their carts. The parking lot is tight and goes in many different directions, watch out for your doors! As for the store itself, we are in the city, so large aisles are not to be expected, but the shopping carts offered are way to big. It is nearly impossible for two carts to get past each other, so good luck getting through if someone is coming at you from the opposite direction or if the person in front of you decides they need to examine the same one coffee can in place for five minutes straight. They should move the fish market to the otherside of the store so that it doesn't hit you when you walk in. Hello. I love this supermarket for their fresh produce and neat appearance. However they need more experienced personnel in the fish section. The adolescents they had servicing the area were not adding Ice to the fish, nor taking precautions with seafood. Something told me not to buy but being lazy and not wanting to take an extra trip to the fish market I picked a fish that was tucked under some ice. I got food poisoning and it sucks. I know it was the fish bc immediately after I ate it I felt sick. Now here I lay. read more
