Listen, I've shopped at a lot of supermarkets, and Food Bazaar might be one of my all-time favorites. This place is a vibe. The diversity is unreal. We're talking high-end meats, fresh seafood, foreign and domestic groceries from every corner of the globe, a spice aisle that reads like a passport, breads you didn't even know existed, frozen foods deep enough to get lost in, a full alcohol section, and a hot sauce wall that'll humble even the bravest taste buds. If you can think of it, Food Bazaar probably stocks it -- and if they don't, you probably didn't need it. Best part? Most locations are open 24/7. Midnight craving for plantains, oxtail, or a bottle of something cold? They've got you. It's the kind of place where you walk in for milk and leave with three bags of stuff you didn't know you needed but absolutely did. The crowd is as diverse as the inventory -- every culture, every neighborhood, every late-night shopper under one roof. That's what makes it special. So why not 5 stars? The store layout can be a maze. With so much packed into every aisle, finding a specific item can feel like a scavenger hunt -- signage is hit or miss, and similar items aren't always grouped where you'd expect. I am updating my original review because Food Bazaar has now made it unmistakably clear that nothing was actually fixed after my first complaint. After my original review, Merci D. (management) posted a polished public response suggesting that the issue had been taken seriously and addressed. That response now looks like pure corporate theater. I returned to the store and ran into the same ridiculous problem all over again: I asked a simple question about where to find Greek yogurt, and once again encountered employees who either spoke little to no English or were unable to provide even the most basic assistance. That alone would be bad enough, but the dysfunction did not stop there. The lines were absurdly long, and at exactly the worst possible time, several self-checkout kiosks were closed simultaneously. In other words, when the store most needed efficiency, it managed to manufacture delay instead. The attached photo speaks for itself. Shutting down multiple self-checkout stations while customers are stuck waiting in long lines is not just poor judgment; it is operational stupidity. This is not a minor inconvenience. It is a pattern. Customers should not have to wander the store like unpaid investigators because staff cannot answer a basic question, and they certainly should not then be rewarded for their trouble with needless delays at checkout because management cannot keep enough kiosks open to handle traffic. What makes this especially irritating is that Merci D. (management) had already publicly acknowledged the earlier problem and implied that corrective action had been taken. Clearly, it had not. Her response now reads less like genuine customer service and more like a performative block of text written to contain public embarrassment while leaving the actual dysfunction intact. At this point, the problem is bigger than rude service or inconvenience. This store appears to be poorly run at a basic operational level. If Food Bazaar cannot ensure that employees can communicate well enough in English to help customers locate ordinary items, and cannot keep sufficient checkout capacity open during busy periods, then it is failing at the most elementary responsibilities of a retail business. Food Bazaar had an opportunity to correct this after my first review. Instead, it seems to have chosen the cheaper and lazier option: issue a hollow public reply, pretend the problem was addressed, and continue subjecting customers to the same chaos. That is not professionalism. That is incompetence with a public relations filter slapped on top of it. Food Bazaar did not fix the problem. It dressed it up, lied about addressing it, and carried on with the same incompetence. At this point, Merci D.'s response looks less like accountability and more like a written receipt for empty promises. read more

6-3-2026 around 3:00 AM. There is not one night I go inside the store without buying something. The manager of the overnight shift had me escorted out with security, and his statement on me using the restroom was, "this is not a public restroom" and his other reason is I spend more time in the restroom than an average customer. The sense I also had is that they do not trust me, since on my way out they checked my personal bag. They treated me like I was only there to loiter. read more

I love the variety of produce in the store - however the price gouging is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Honestly, this supermarket chain needs to be investigated by the attorney general because their prices are so much higher than their competitors. Before Food Bazaar this supermarket use to be called Fairway, I haven't been here in years. The produce section has a wide variety of fruits and vegetables the quality and prices are good. Each section of the store the shelves are nicely stocked, it's easy to find what you looking for. The only difference now no more food court, now there's Rokstar Chicken and Gowas@bi sushi. read more

This is my go to supermarket. They open at 730am and close at 1030pm! How many supermarkets close that late? I enjoy coming here at 830/900pm alone after my kids go down for bed. It's pretty empty during that time, yet the produce and all items are stocked and organized. The staff members have always been helpful in telling me or even escorting me to the item that I need to find. For those that like sashimi, they offer that! Was I hesitant at first? Yes, but I've had it many times and everytime it is fresh and soooo good. Always good practice to bring your own shopping bag, otherwise, it'll cost $1 for their food bazaar bag. Let's start my saying, I really love shopping here. They have almost everything you can possibly need for groceries and have a Rokstar chicken near the poultry section. They have assortments of meats from beef to fresh fish. It's always clean and well kept. The staff where you get cold cuts, are one of the nicest and polite staff. However, I am not a fan of going to checkout at the register. I hope the self-checkout is open when I go. Reason being, when going to the register, you pay and start to bag your groceries, majority of the cashiers will push your groceries to be bagged and just look at you to hurry up. This is not occurring once in a while this is every-time from everyone. Not nice and this is the reason I gave 3 stars. read more

There is food court deep inside and at the center of the supermarket. Can order your food ahead of time and in the meantime shop inside. Food should be ready in 15 minutes. However, everything in here is pricey! Groceries is much more expensive than elsewhere. With inflation and shrinkflation, I doubt I'd be coming back here in the future... read more

I've been coming here for years (12) not because it's convenient but because I like the selection of produce, fish and meats you can get all under one roof. I even came here when it was Fairway which was also very good. Yet I have now found that the people at the register do not keep the line moving by helping the customers to bag their groceries. Rather they do not touch it at all. Meanwhile you have those who are elderly or injured like myself that are now expected to bag our own groceries. And it's not as if these are elderly workers rather young workers who could easily do it. Plus it's not as if you have to also put the paper bag into another like most places and then put the groceries in the bag. Almost all of the customers are using their big red bags which are easy to load up. Although it's not the end of the world it's helpful when shopping to just pay and leave a store after putting your stuff on the belt. I'm thinking an employee may have a lawsuit as I've seen this just in the past few months and now others are also taking the time to leave a negative review like this. read more

Four stars for the sushi and cheese section. Great selection of cheeses and fairly priced olive bar. I discovered this gem a few weeks ago and discovered the sashimi was way cheaper than Hmart and really fresh too. Depending on which day of the week you go, there is a wide selection of sashimi sets along with chunks of sashimi sold per pound weight. I happened to go this past Saturday and there were a bunch of samples out from the sashimi and cheese sections. They also have many Asian aisles and there were samples of bulgogi rice to instant ramen out as well. The previous time I was there was on a Tuesday and saw the sushi guy removing any sashimi that were dated more than two days old. So yay to being diligent about fresh fish! read more

This Food Bazaar has a huge parking lot and it's easily accessible right off the Long Island Expressway. It's no doubt one of the better supermarket in the Bayside, Little neck, Douglaston area however prices a tad higher than others nearby keeping it from 5 stars. read more

I have been going there for many years, today will be the last time I spend any money in that store. My issue is with the "deli" counter and the people that work there. There is no number system, the line is all over the place, completely unorganized. I people behind the counter can not communicate effectively, which leads to very slow service and conflicts to who is next in line. Seems there is no training or oversight, of the employees they just don't care. Now this review is not for the entire staff, just for the hood rats that work behind the counter. read more

I literally wait till closing time to go food shopping or, I'll literally get up by 7am to make it there as soon as those doors open. Anywho, thats how we got to this one. All the other ones by the house were closing around 8-9pm but this one closed at 10pm which was perfect. Drove and Arrived by 8:50pm and stood there for about an hour, this supermarket is huge and i was not prepared for it. Everything is so well and organized. They have large varieties of veggies and fruits. Some beautiful plants are on the side when you come in. I think i even bought one. That day we went everything looked pretty fresh to me & tasted fresh as well. They also, have a large variety of Asian or Korean food or it could be a mixture, i wouldnt know. :x Their Seafood selection is pretty wide. You'll be able to find all kinda sea creatures up in there. Of course i had to grab some shrimps while i was there, too. welp! I Didn't get sick, so, im guessing all good. I believe their Deli Meat side closes around 9-9:30 if you're going for a late run to go get some honey turkey. Go grab your HT early. What i didnt like was that everything we do normally get at the supermarket- they didn't have. Bummer! If they did have it- it will mostly be in another brand and i be iffy sometimes switching brands. After Fairway closed down due to being bankrupt and poor management, Food Bazaar took over the place and I'm glad they did. During the begin there were some movement of things and reorganizing their shelves, but after a few weeks or so, the place looks great and all the aisles are neatly organized and fully stocked. Some of the staff remained on site and were able to keep their jobs. The old Fairway always had water leaking through the roofs, but at least Food Bazaar is making an effort by installing drainage tubes and tucking them behind the shelves away from the aisles. The food selection is pretty much the same, but now with a more worldly selection. The price of the meat is much better and still fresh. The butchers are all very nice, and if you need a specific cut, they do try to find it for you and cut it to your satisfaction. The bakery section did seem to have a slight overhaul, the bagels doesn't taste as great as fairways. I'm just glad there is still a supermarket in this desert like Douglaston mall when there used to be a Macy's, Modell's, and a Toys 'R Us was filled with traffic and parking lots full. Even Grimaldi's is gone now (I have noticed they've been closed a couple of times due to tax evasion before the pandemic hit). The parking lot is still the same, and the shopping carts are shinny new. They have a hand sanitizing station in the front. If you do come shop here, best to come after 7pm when it's less people and you don't have to worry about socially distancing as much, but masks are a must before entering. read more

Updated: the customer service called me back, apologize and adjust the issue. Recently I went to Food Bazaar in New York-Queens and bought some sashimi grade fishes home. When I cut the salmon, there are small tiny bones still attached with the filet. I have to cut half of them off bcz I was worry is any bones in middle. When I cut the Hamachi which cost $32.99 per lb. It have so many bones in it. It is very danger when you sell a sashimi grade fishes to customer with this much bones in it! It is now my favorite supermarket in the neighborhood as it caters both American and Asian groceries. As an added bonus, it offers international goods as well. It used to be Fairway branch which is known for steep prices but the new management made it affordable to the customers. I enjoyed seeing how they stack their aisles with fresh merchandise to my liking. Staff is nice. Place is doing a major renovation and understand the mess in some area. Good selection but be careful buying fish. I purchased salmon sashimi that was labeled packaged 4/29. Immediately bringing it home my car and house SMELLED so bad of fish. The salmon was so pungent and clearly old. It was disgusting. Really disappointed to spend a lot of money for a product that was inedible. $20 into the garbage. read more

To be honest the variety alone deserves 5 stars because the grocery is so incredibly diverse and extensive, it almost feels like it's all about to go terribly wrong. Convenience of being able to find Thai curry, japanese ramen, korean tea, Queso fresco and all your other pantry staples in one location is the sole redeeming quality. Lines are slow, produce display is inconvenient, but produce quality is the absolute worst. Produce is 0 stars, almost always terrible. Doesn't matter that it's cheap if it's heading straight for the bin. The grapes were soft, the cilantro is strangely overgrown, limes are bitter, zucchini become moldy the next day... and I don't have the time to return all these items after spending my time shopping there every time. When something works don't change it! Recently management decided to block the passage that went from the produce section to the grocery section forcing you to go past the cheese, fish and bakery sections then onto the meat and finally the grocery sections. Unfortunately, they then put up displays in front of the cheese area diminishing the passable aisle to one shopping cart wide. There has always been carts of fish heads, crabs and a freezer for shrimp in front of the fish counter which shrunk the aisle somewhat but now when someone stops to look at one of the new displays, all traffic stops. The closing off of the passage way to the grocery section really was a bad decision and obviously not well thought out. It was a well-placed passage that always had people using it. If it was done to force customers to go past the cheese and fish area at least remove the displays in front of the cheese area to open up the aisle so traffic doesn't stop. Better yet, reopen the passage way to the grocery area so shoppers have a way to bypass the traffic jam altogether. What were you thinking! read more

I come here when I need something quick. I feel that the prices are higher than Shoprite. This place doesn't carry certain foods, which I guess is due to the needs of the community, and I feel like it has a limited selection due to the size of it. But like I said, it's good enough if I need something quick. Also, on a side note, when I've gone shopping late the past two times, this guy with dark hair and glasses who might be the head cashier keeps staring at me like he's checking me out while I'm at the register and he kind of freaks me out. This Food Bazaar used to the Fairway. Everything is better than the old Fairway. I guess this supermarket is Asian owned. There were a lot of Asian products mixed in with regular products. The vegetables and fruit looked fresher. The food in deli counter looks fresh. The food does not look dry. People are buying the prepared food. When I was there, they were cutting a giant bluefin tuna. They gave out samples. I purchased some fatty tuna and tuna. Sushi grade. Very good stuff. They had six butchers in the meat department. The store was well stocked. The store was very clean. The people working at the store were very helpful. The meat and vegetables prices are a bit high but you are paying for freshness. read more

So i have already downloaded my food bazaar app, to cash in and get my $10 coupon. I like what is saw today, seems like all the new isles are up and running as there were plenty of. New items; i felt there was a certain level of competition with H-mart or at the very least the asian products were more abundant and there was a lot more variety than before. I was very pleased with the butcher selections as you cam buy whole slabs of beef ribs for $5.99 a pound and they can custom cut it; that in itself is excellent for when buying bulk items. I always say that H- mart has the best cuts of beef and their butcher displays for pork, chicken, beef are beautifully displayed. So i see food bazaar is doing the same and following the trend and this is great. The udon and ramen package soup section is a huge wall, with lots of variety to pick from. Actually it used to be the old bread section.. I saw live lobster for $6.99 and they were a good size too. I like the fresh seafood area,, they had octopus that looked very fresh and clean ready for cooking. I got a good vibe that anyone walking in here now will certainly notice the difference between the old Fairways and the food bazaar now. I noticed very few things at the hot food buffet, so hopefully they will have more variety and bring korean or asian inspired dishes. I am looking forward to shopping here and comparing prices with Hmart. The frozen food section also a lot of Chinese-Korean foods. I am not sure if the names in the aisles have been change but for example the international isle seem to be missing latin products. Overall the wife and I liked what we saw today. Everything is great about this place except for the one thing that ruins it all --- the fragrant disinfectant (damaging to health, alters hormones) they spray on EVERYTHING. It's on the egg cartoon (which gets on the eggs), it's on every paper labels on all the cans, it's on the plastic they use to wrap the meat, it's on the paper bag of the flour they sell, it's on the PRODUCE you buy. EVERYTHING is covered in their hormone altering fragrant disinfectant. After you buy your groceries, go to a place with fresh air, clear your nose, smell your groceries - you will smell detergant fragrance on ALL your groceries from Food Bazaar. PLEASE get educated about the dangers of this fragrance - it will alter hormones. It doesn't just smell nice, it's a chemical that gives CANCER over time. For the sake of your workers health you should stop using that fragrant scented disinfectant, and just use simple bleach. For the sake of all that expensive food you sell, stop ruining it with that toxic fragrant disinfectant. read more

Four stars for selection and sales,zero stars for service. The cashier was actually scowling and only grudgingly helped pack for a gentleman two places ahead of me. She didn't help me at all, even after I asked. Didn't respond to greetings or smiles. Also, the app sucks. The only search function is for coupons. It's useless for finding items in the store. For that, it redirects outside of the app to the website. I won't go out of my way to go here. I gave it 1 star only because some of the workers are nice people and Yelp doesn't allow no stars anyway. Today is Christmas Eve and the store was unusually crowded. I expected to wait to check out, but it was ridiculous because (1) there are no queue lines only chaos with people cutting each other off (2) a management that couldn't care less about having an organized queue as long as the sheep pay up (3) workers putting popup stands in the way of the checkout lines creating more chaos and inconvenience (4) and this is maybe not management's fault*, but customers with carts piled up with stuff breaking down the pile and paying 4 and 5 times with the same credit card, holding up and frustrating already frsutrated customers. *To avoid this debacle, put up a sign stopping this nonsense or create a queue for the morons who want to do this crap. One transaction per customer or wait on a special line for you folks. read more

Pro: Carry a full range of conventional to healthy, plant based brands. Lines move fast. Con: Organic produce is almost always days away from rotting. I order organic produce from Whole Foods instead. I was shopping there today and they had multiple items that were expired which is quite concerning. Soup mix expired in July 2021. Beer expired in Feb 2022. Spices that expired in 2021. I don't know if this is due to poor operations or being hungry to profit but they need to get the expired stuff off the shelves and not try to sell it. read more
