I come here often. This review is from a shopping experience today. The prepared food is always very good. Hit or miss with some of the sides but the meat does not disappoint. The staff behind the prepared food counter was very patient with my indecisiveness. However, the cashiers are very unfriendly. I was actually very surprised to see some reviews say friendly employees- I wonder who they are talking about. The cashier never said a word to us. Not a hello, not a thank you for shopping, and not even a you're welcome when I said thank you. It's very easy to spend $100 minimum here. Honestly, it's very off putting to not have someone say hello and thank you. Not sure I'll be back often.

I think they get the baked goods from Hostess. Awful. Overpriced meats. Obnoxious people. Have a great day.

This Tous Les Jours location is on Great Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza, conveniently located by the Great Neck LIRR. When you first enter the bakery, you can see the display of organized labelled pastries and bread. The lighting is warm and the bakery is welcoming. I grabbed a tray, tongs, and a piece of parchment paper to put on top of the tray while I browsed the array of choices. I chose a Portuguese Egg Tart, also known as Pastel De Nata. My husband and I shared a croquette, garlic sausage block, and he had the spicy sausage. The Pastel De Nata was so flaky and crisp. Once I took the first bite, you can hear the crunch and the filling of creamy egg custard was so good. The garlic sausage block was really good as well. It was the perfect ratio of dough and sausage. The spicy sausage had pieces of jalapeno and the sausage was very good. The croquette was thick, crispy, and had a really good filling. I also got the Honey Lavender Matcha Latte, it was refreshing and creamy. Inside, there is plenty of seating options from tables to countertop seats. All the pastries were very yummy and not overly greasy. Everything that I've tried at Tous Les Jours have been really light and airy and you can't go wrong.

The ube basque cheesecake was smooth and rich, but not as potent of an ube flavor as I would've expected. IMO the standout was the passionfruit donut. It reminded me so much of a malasada. The dough was perfectly light and airy and paired perfectly with the tart passionfruit filling. I also picked up their pandesal (that was still warm!) which was baked to perfection and was just slightly sweet. I saw online that the head baker previously did pastry and Michelin restaurants and it really showed. All the bakes were so well done and the flavors weren't overly sweet. I can't wait to go back to try more!

The manila fog is very unique--with hojicha, earl gray, and a floral foam. It's a little on the sweeter side, and I wish I noted that upon ordering, but overall I liked the taste of it! If you like sweet black tea, that'd be the perfect pick for anyone. The calamansi juice was tart and refreshing. In the matcha, if you're looking for a calamansi-forward drink, just know that it tastes more like calamansi than matcha. But if you don't like how green/grassy matcha tends to taste but enjoy the caffeine from it, then order the calamansi matcha! The ube basque cheesecake is everything you want in it. It's dense and full of flavor. The blueberry fig bread pudding was tasty and fluffy, but I wish they had more of the fruit incorporated throughout it. If you love Filipino sweets or want to try something new, give this place a try!

If you don't see what you're looking for in the case, just ask because they are constantly baking and steaming for the demand. Sometimes it will take a few, but that just means you'll be lucky and get them extra extra fresh. It is a small location so I'd personally just take my items to go, since crowds come and go. For one, I think they strategically set up shops in areas far out in Queens that are not easily accessible or overrun by the masses--this can easily bring down a business' quality. We ordered a variety of things to try, including their range of char siu baos, like the pineapple bun, the snow crust, and the regular baked bun. Definitely a step up above what Mei Lai Wah is now, with the chunky cuts of meat, but way too sweet, even with the regular version. Highly suggest just sticking with the regular unless you're really curious about the pineapple or snow crust, which really just adds a layer of sugar. My mom spotted their sachima and quickly snatched one up. They sell a small selection of Southern Chinese and Hong Kong baked goods and pastries, but don't expect the variety of a Chinese bakery. Prices are a bit steep, and I don't know if it varies by location since this location is in a higher-cost area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I'm craving a good char siu bao - most Chinese bakeries do them well, just a matter of finding them. Most people who came in when we were there seem to buy them in boxes so either they're a hit at parties/events or some households really love them.
