It's 8 years later, and this place has sadly not changed. They continue to sell food that has clearly gone bad; very likely taking any prepared meals on the shelves that go unsold by the expiration date and simply swapping out the labels. I suspect that this is the work of the owner, who is the same man who ran the store way back when it was C-Town. It goes without saying that what he's doing is not only grossly unethical, but just plain gross, and a serious health hazard. This store should be shut down. read more

Great store like its counterparts except that it's small, so aisles are narrow. Not as gigantic selection as Mineola or Glen Cove but totally OK. Staff is great, can help you reach items piled up. Good produce, fruit, cheeses, fish, bakery. What they could do is add kosher meat for local clientele. Would save a trip. read more

Stopped by randomly on a Wednesday afternoon around 530 and was pleasantly suprised to find a relatively empty parking lot & the store itself wasn't busy at all. Compared to the college point location this is considerably smaller - about half to a third of the size but was considerably of lower quality. I saw a lot of moldy cheeses (like moldy gruyere, and cheddar) in the cheese section and a lot of things on the verge of expiring or past the expiration date!! THis included pre-packed items as well as items packed in store! PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE PACKING DATE, BEST BY DATE & EXPIRATION DATES WHILE SHOPPING. They did have a bakery section which was well stocked - i got one of the traditional baguettes which tastes fine but wasnt really a good baguette (not very crusty/and very dense texture inside) but it served its function well. Overall would not be back - the idea of having to second guess and closely inspect everything I buy there would stress me out especially when my experiences at the other location has consistantly been positive. read more

Its not my style to start my writing about infelicitous and impactful life events of the current day which we find ourselves just a bit below knee deep in. As I wade deeper into the great dark lake of uncertainty - six slow days in - minutes feel like hours. Cubbards in our Forest Hills shops were wiped out three days ago, "get in the silver bullet (my vehicle) and roll outwardly". I found myself infront of North Shore Farms 20 minutes later and swung the ride way around to the back, racked my surgical gloves, plucked a flyer/circular and set forth cart in hand. People were pleasantly shopping but with a noticable unease in the air. I was asked four times if I could "reach me that jar, box, bag up there" pointing straight up at the top shelf, I get that a lot, its cute. (Glad to know I'm useful in times of crisis) If you viewed my pictures, this markets cheese area is unmatched as is the freshly baked bread from the large pizza ovens in the bread department which is located adjacent to the long and robust delicatessen department which had a line as long as box office tickets to Pope John Paul II's New York visit in '78. But what impressed me most was the staffs vocation. The dark prune vests were in every aisle -- unboxing, stocking, incessantly cleaning carts stem to stern and more specifically-- leading out of towners around to the tune of six items, aisle by busy aisle. I'll conclude with this, the synergy inside was sincere and communal. A nervous tension did hover, we could be at the beginning, but in typical Strong Island NY fashion, proper people were all working and communicating together for common cause. read more

While they made a fabulous turkey for Thanksgiving, they made horrible brisket for Passover. They cut it the wrong way, with the grain rather than against the grain into long slices making it extremely tough. How do they let an unknowledgeable person make brisket?! I shopped at this market every week for 3 years and i bought their seafood at the seafood counter, and pretty much everything else i bought was store made. I was often sick right after i ate their store made food and i couldn't figure out why, until i did. I only had serious runs after i ate their store made foods, no other times. And this is a fancy, expensive market, too. But i would only be sick for about two days, each time. Until May 16, 2024. i got sick one hour after I ate one egg, which i bought two days before, plus, i had not eaten in 24 hours so i knew it was that one egg. I got food poisoning so bad, and for 16 days, not just two days. So i can't believe i did this but i has not gotten sick from their seafood, just all their other foods. So last week i actually went back there after swearing to myself i would never go there again. I went and just bought seafood from Milton, the guy at that counter. I spent a fortune, to fill my freezer with it so i can have it when i want to. while i was there, i specifically asked him if it is ok to freeze what i bought. In other words, i wanted to make sure that the stuff i bought had not been previously frozen and i asked him at least three times. He said it is fine to freeze all i bought. So tonight i took out a container of shrimps and defrosted them. I ate 5 shrimps. Thats all, thank goodness. I have been in the bathroom since i ate them for my dinner, and it started about one hour after i ate them. i feel like i am dying now. This store and everything in it is poison. I am so angry. Oh, by the way, while i was there, i looked at their cheeses but did not buy. When i was a weekly customer for 3 years, every piece of cheese i bought was rotten in a day or two. Even though the cheese would be dated a month away. Now i know why. While i was there, a worker came over to the huge cheese section and i saw with my own eyes that he re labeled all the cheeses to make then be dated much later, as if they would be fresh weeks away. Now i know why i got sick for 16 days from eating one egg. That can only happen if they change the dates on the egg cartons. Well, i will be going back to the bathroom right now. read more

I visited this store for the first time this week because I know they sell fresh and gourmet items. The place is know for their cooked and prepared items, which unfortunately did not get a chance to explore because the line was relatively long. They had pretty good selection of seafood, produce and cheese. Everyone was compliant and wore a mask. The place was small and social distance was impossible. I knew I did not belong there as I was the only Asian person in the store. Overall, I got most of what I needed: chorizo, jamon, gouda pesto, manchego cheese, chevre cheese, hand soap, brioche rolls (on sale), eggplant (on sale), and sunflower oil (on sale) for a little over $30 and most of it was not on sale. I would definitely return when it's not crowded to explore their prepared foods and maybe purchase produce and seafood. Yay I'm a fan because I brought specialty items for an upcoming virtual wine tasting event next week. read more

Your basic grocery store. They have higher priced goods but it's very small, though decently clean. Service was friendly and fast.

i don't know why but supermarkets are like dept stores to me...I get claustrophobic and overwhelmed but the massive amts of products. And this place calms me because it has a great selection, with specialty items and cozy enough to run in and out. I mean, we just need some fruit, veggies, cheese, sauce and that's it. Why go into a freezing warehouse for that? I also admire North Shore Farms for being a leader in Covid19 rules for masks and distancing, before it was forced due to peer pressure or state rules. Some customers got mad, but they all seemed to come around to understanding now. I think they were one of the first to install plexiglass or some barrier to protect its cashiers. I commend them. They even managed to open a new location during a pandemic - whitestone. No, i don't work for them but I keep these facts in the back of my mind when I try to shop responsibly. read more

This place is flat out amazing. Very few shopping places are places you would want to go out of your way to visit. This is one of those places. There are samples everywhere. Cheese, bread, meat, you name it, you can try it before you buy it. Prices range from amazing to fair. There are some great deals on fruit here that I could not find anywhere else. No organic though, so I didn't buy any berries, apples, celery or other highly pesticide absorbent plant products. If you need to find a bunch of cheese's for your party this is your store. They have a massive selection with lots of deals and you can try before you buy. They pay attention to little details here, the bags are strong the store is clean, and the sales people are helpful and knowledgeable. All in all, its most similarly set up to the way the Amish/Mennonite communities set up their grocery stores. So this is a great find on Long Island. read more

If you're looking for food packages by a manufacturer, this store has a great, varied selection of hard to find same international products. However, if you're looking to take out premade food when you're to tired to cook, look elsewhere. This was my second venture into their precooked food, as I thought that the first meal might have just been an of day. The Italian chicken breast cutlery was some of the toughest, driest I've ever had the misfortune of having on my dinner plate. Further, several months ago I stopped on my home from work to pick up a container of fresh grated parmesan cheese. Sadly, the cheese with a use by date about a month away, got moldy after one week. I like everything about this store except the people who check you out .They are grumpy, agitated or in a rush to do something better. For instance, I was checking out and the woman had a baseball game to go to, instead of just taking the day off she worked with an attitude, when it came time to pay, I was going to give half cash and half on my card. I have paid this way many times in many stores, only this time it caused such a problem because apparently their system doesn't work that way, which is really inconvenient and antiquated . Anyway after a long drawn out check out I leave only to find out upon arriving home, the coffee I paid for wasn't even in my bag. I was so annoyed but don't live nearby so I didn't go back. I don't do all of my shopping here because it is quite pricy but they have an amazing bakery for breads and a huge cheese department and the deli area has a lot of really good prepared items ... it's a definite have to go for vegetables and fruits the produce area is amanzing ... i have been here during this quarantine time and I find the store to be super clean and all the workers are wearing masks and they are paying attention for social distancing at the registers ! read more

This store is extremely bad at rotating their products. The chances of you getting food that is old or sour is very high because I don't think these people care enough to check on the dates of foods. I usually like to prepare my own food at home even if it is time consuming because I know exactly what I put into my food. Some of the deli food is not labeled properly and it is surely a death trap for anyone with allergies. Today, I wanted to celebrate the Labor Day weekend with my family but I did not have time to make my own quiches. As a result I checked out the quiches that the store had. I found a moldy quiche was expired on the 23rd, 9 days ago! That's disgusting. I don't see why there isn't a health score available for this deli because something isn't right here. read more

Extremely affordable and awesome place to shop. Went here yesterday to pick up Nounos' yogurt and I was so happy to see all these amazing prices. The soup selection is delicious, I bought cream of turkey soup that had the richest flavor to it. They have a great bakery and deli, as well as coffee beans section. The deli and bakery had top notch selections, the pumpernickel raisin bread looked divine, and so did the spinach pie from the deli. They have a good grocery section too, but you'll find more fresh food than prepackaged food. They have free samples for bread and their spreads as well! Totally recommend this place. read more

That being said it's prob hard to keep tabs on quality On two occasions the cheeses were old and hard as rock - had to throw out despite the dates so beware to check what you buy closely. The deli is convenient but stay clear of the tuna fish salad- not sure what the problem is but was inedible - other than that -the fruit and veggies very fresh and a beautifully displayed store. The best $9.99 anyone ever spent in lieu of a chocolate babka! (Seinfeld) They have since gotten smarter and realized it was the best selling dessert in the store since they are always sold out unless you find it early in the day. I drive here pretty regularly for the fresh produce and home-baked bread. But unless I am hard-pressed as to what to make for dinner that night, I try to stay away from the seafood/fish counter. The counter staff always seems as though they are very busy behind the counter -- too busy to attend promptly to a waiting line of customers, who don't seem to be their priorities. I mean, shouldn't customers come first? Must we wait until they finish their tidying up -- or whatever else they seem so busy doing that they don't even acknowledge the customers waiting on line. Recently, there were three people behind the counter but, as usual, only one was serving customers -- and like other workers back there in the past, he resisted/refused to satisfy requests for smaller pieces of fish. In the past, workers have said they aren't allowed to cut the fish so customers must take exactly what's on ice. What's that about? Do customers' portion preferences count? Guess not. read more

Honestly, I am really disgusted with this place. Do not shop here!!! I come here to shop almost every two weeks, and no one is ever available to help. None of the Spanish workers in the produce department speak English and whenever I ask questions, there are no answers. They don't even do rain checks and the Indian guy is always screaming, telling me to bring back to flyer which I believe is very unprofessional. Fresh produce is great. They tend to have good sales on fruit. I also love their meat counter. The store is small but they have an amazing cheese selection. They have free samples for cheese, olives and dips which is nice. They have kosher meat in the meat aisle. read more

The good things about this North Shore Farms location include that it's extremely convinently located off of the LIE between Lakeville Road and Little Neck Parkway. Additionally, they have the same great stuff that can be found in the other larger locations such as Port Washington and Mineola. And they are cheaper than their completion in Fairway. My problem with this location is that it feels cramped and smaller than the other stores of this chain. I usually go to the one in Port Washington, although this location is more convinent. It feels like they took a small neighborhood grocery and tried to cram in a large store. This may be a personal preference but it's mine. read more

Decent market place. Used to be a frequent customer till Fairway opened. They have a decent assortment of cheeses, prices are high on some and lower on others. The prepared food isn't bad -- specifically the pot pies; waaaay less salty then the frozen brands, and tastier. I discovered this place around Thanksgiving and go whenever I'm in the area. The market is kind of tiny but they have really good specials on fruit, produce and meat from time to time. I think their meat is probably a little fresher than my local Key Food or Waldbaums. For a small place they do manage to have a pretty large cheese and homemade food section. I love trying their homemade spreads and pita. there is a parking lot but beware it can get cramped in the lot and the aisles during the holiday seasons. read more
