My review is specifically about the bakery. My wife and I were married on Myrtle Beach 10 years…read moreago, a small ceremony with family and a few friends. It was a great memory, but my wife has always regretted that we didn't have a small wedding cake. I was asking around MB, for a place that could do a simple cake for our anniversary on short notice, and a guy at another bakery suggested Publix. We called and were helped by a very friendly woman who helped us get what we wanted. The cake looked and tasted great, couldn't be happier.

(The photos show just how tense and unnecessarily escalated this situation became over a simple cake purchase. Three employees were essentially tag-teaming me over an incorrect charge that could have been addressed when I first pointed out the repeated scans--before Gary charged me and forced me to leave, examine the receipt, and come back inside. Instead, it took three employees about ten minutes to address a basic checkout mistake that should have been corrected in less than a minute. I started recording a video after a few minutes of them telling me I was wrong and them being rude, then suddenly they started being fake nice when I put my camera on, classic.) I had just gotten out of work and had hot takeout food waiting for me. I stopped briefly to purchase three cakes for a special occasion, advertised as three for $12. Gary, the cashier, rang in more cakes than I actually had, leaving the receipt full of confusing entries and corrections. I heard the repeated scans and immediately asked him, calmly and politely, to check. He would not scroll back to let me see all of the charges on the screen. Instead, he repeatedly assured me that I had not been overcharged, so I had to complete the transaction and wait for the receipt to print. Outside, I checked it and discovered that I was right. Despite all the corrections, I had still been charged $17.97 for three cakes advertised as three for $12. I went back inside and deliberately approached another cashier because I did not want to deal with Gary again, but he came over and continued insisting the receipt was correct. The second cashier also repeatedly told me I was wrong and claimed this was simply "how the receipt looks." She underlined different entries with a pencil and tried to explain that the $17.97 represented only one cake, which made no mathematical sense. I finally had to pull out my own calculator and walk two employees who handle money through the charges before they began recognizing the problem. The second cashier then rudely told me, "You're going to have to wait," dismissed me, and looked away. The way she spoke to and disregarded me was what started making me genuinely angry. When the manager arrived, he barely acknowledged me, side-eyed me, and acted irritated rather than concerned. By then, the cakes had been tossed around and shaken up during the ordeal, and I was too upset to want them, so I returned all three. At one point, Gary remarked that "life is too short." I replied, "Yeah, it is too short, and I don't have time for this s***." The manager focused entirely on that statement, threatened to have me removed and banned from the store, and shooed me away. I acknowledge exactly what I said after the situation escalated, but I began calmly and politely. One frustrated statement does not excuse ringing in more cakes than I had, refusing to check the transaction, repeatedly insisting I was wrong, dismissing me when I asked for help, or threatening to ban me. This ruined my evening. The hot food I had ordered was cold by the time I arrived to pick it up, and I left without the cakes I needed for a special occasion. I regularly shop here, but after this treatment and being threatened with a ban, I am uncomfortable to return and will tell my family and friends how I was treated. Gary has made mistakes on my previous transactions that I chose to let go. This time, I simply did not want to be overcharged. The employees escalated the situation through their dismissive and arrogant treatment, then acted as though I was the problem for questioning an incorrect charge. The manager's mafia-wannabe approach felt more like intimidation than customer service. The woman at the bakery counter was the only person who treated me with genuine kindness and professionalism. Frankly, she demonstrated better management qualities than the manager and should have his job. Corporate should review the register transaction, my receipt, and the complete camera footage. Mistakes happen. What made this unacceptable was the refusal to check, repeated arguing and dismissal, lack of accountability, wasted time, and threatening treatment from management.

There is a seating area to sit and relax after you buy from the prepared foods. They have sushi Wednesday with $5 specials. No sales card needed to save on the sake items. The employees were all friendly and helpful. Especially great were Ethel and Tye who made the subs.

It's got a good plethora of snacks and food if you're staying here for more than a week & don't want to go out for every meal. Had to pick up peach soda & moon pies for the kiddos, plus a long sleeve Piggly Wiggly Tee to remind me of where I used to shop growing up. Love the signs throughout the store. The staff are humble and kind. This is an old school market in the middle of tourist land. I hope this place remains open for generations to come. Support your local Piggly Wiggly rather than the large scale supermarkets; The locals will appreciate it!

The deli's hot item options were a bit sparse during our mid-day arrival; so we only left with some of their prepackaged baked beans from that area. Another flashback to my last time visiting the Myrtle Beach, SC area to see the relatives. When I…read morevisit them I tend to travel light because I stay with them and have stockpiled a bunch of needful things to use across the time of my trip. Stuff like socks, underwear and assorted t-shirts and polo shirts for the nicer events out. Even some beach stuff like trunks and goggles for the pool or ocean. Everything I've needed, or I should be correct and say that almost everything was purchased at their nearby Walmart. The other reason I really like to visit this particular location is that I always seem to find a KISS t-shirt of some kind. I'm a pretty close to being a lifelong fan of "The Hottest Band In The World" and when my awesome Mother asked me how many KISS shirts I needed, I replied with a smile "all of them". I should add that I've also added shirts for the Misfits, Godzilla, Star Wars, and assorted super-heroes to the mix which will give me convention wear for the duration. Walmart is priced lower than many stores and since this one is down in South Carolina, its less than one would find up this way. That's why I've even been getting my jeans down there as well. I just have to make them fit into my bag for the journey home. If you're down in this part of MB, be sure to drop in and grab some things that you need. It's without question that I will be going back and I cannot wait to see the new shirts that I might find.

The first thing is pricing on the shelf and pricing on the item. I could not even begin to tell you how many times I have recognized an error or discrepancy in the item price at the register at this store. Last year, I bought small prepared salads off the shelf that showed a price of $2.29, but when I got to the register, it rang up $2.97. Not much $ if bought once or twice, but when someone buys them several times a week, it certainly adds up. The Customer Service folks promised to fix it, but it took almost a month. The other annoying issue is the Isle Width. My wife and I went down the extremely narrow drink row this morning, where there was a pallet of drinks that someone dropped. I can assure you that there is no way two people walking side by side could have fit. We continue to scratch heads on the thought process of this most recent renovation. Nothing could be far from customer friendly about these type of safety hazards throughout the grocery section at this location. I have complained about this on various surveys, but I would bet that this does not negatively effect their bottom line in any way, therefore no change is needed. Just be cautious of the narrow space of the isles here. Do not come back and say no one told you. ​

The only other option was the Exxon 3 miles away luckily the general store had two 1 gallon jugs of water. I brought them up. He scanned them and something felt off before I tapped my card. I looked down and the price for x2 1 gallon jugs of water was almost $30. I asked him if that was right and he smiled and said " it's the cost of convenience for being so close to the beach" I told him I wasn't paying that and that I would put them up and leave. He then tried to drop the price to $20 like he was doing me a favor...... Needless to say I walked to Exxon and paid three dollars for a gallon of water and walked back to my room. I made this account specifically to put this review as I have never seen such up charging in my life, but after seeing the other reviews, I can imagine this place will not be in business very much longer
