My review is specifically about the bakery. My wife and I were married on Myrtle Beach 10 years ago, a small ceremony with family and a few friends. It was a great memory, but my wife has always regretted that we didn't have a small wedding cake. I was asking around MB, for a place that could do a simple cake for our anniversary on short notice, and a guy at another bakery suggested Publix. While on vacation at the end of September I stopped in here for my first time in a Publix. I'd heard about them , but we don't have them in Las Vegas , Nevada. I found it to be clean and well organized. The prices were very fair for being at the beach. Parking lot was clean and well maintained. It was a little busy , but didn't seem overcrowded. After a great dinner, we need dessert. I stopped into this Publix for a quick look through the bakery section and then frozen. This is a great example of the Publix chain of stores. No litter in the parking lot, empty cart corrals, a brightly lit store that is well stocked and clean. And no queue at the registers with enough people working today that the lines moved quickly. Yeah, it's more expensive than some other stores but that's getting you a better and more helpful shopping experience. The helper in the bakery area was able to box up a chocolate something and I found a small tub of keto-friendly ice cream in the freezers. Now we're cooking! Nice Store, Horrendous Produce For such a reputable grocery chain with regards to customer service and variety, Publix really should be ashamed of their produce departments. Embarrassed, really. I shop at the very nice store on Kings Hwy in Myrtle Beach and week after week the produce is old, dried out, limp and much of it pre-packaged. Even staples such as broccoli and onions and asparagus are brown and discolored and have no crisp to them at all. Peppers are wrinkled and corn on the cob is brown, it should not even be on the display. I don't expect it to look like Whole Foods, but maybe in the middle somewhere? Shame on corporate headquarters for not investing in their produce departments and offering good product to their shoppers. read more

Ended up coming here for some milk, creamer, prunes. Was happy to find some disinfectant wipes and spray, so, bought a bunch to carry us for the next few months. It's neatly organized and easy to find. I wanted some Zapp's jalapeño chips, but wasn't able to find any at this location. I checked at an attended register. I did self checkout when I forgot some items the second time before leaving again. read more

i don't not usually at shop at Publix but was in the area last weekend. So I stopped in to grab a few things at the one on 707 in Murrells Inlet, SC. The staff seemed super nice. However, when in the snack aisle I saw what looked like a used bloody needle on the floor. I was so grossed out and appalled. Im still traumatized by what I saw while I was grocery shopping. Publix is one of my favorite stores, although they are a little pricey, I do enjoy my experience of shopping there. This is an immaculate store with a tremendous selection of groceries, meats, deli, vegetables, bakery, frozen food and dairy departments. The 5 stars is for the grocery store, not the pharmacy. The employees are very helpful and the aisles are not loaded with people stocking the shelves, while I'm trying to shop. I find many customers offer to help me reach for items. I think the atmosphere makes it pleasant for everyone. There are several self check out registers and the full service that I use. They have a packer come to the register who packs my bags, follows me out to my car, loads it and returns the electric scooter to its charging dock. They could use a few more Handicapped parking spaces, as we have many. tourists here as well as new developments popping up daily, luring the northern retirees. The Pharmacy section, is well organized and the Pharmacist and their assistants are very helpful. My issue with them is, they display a sign stating they can have all your monthly prescriptions arranged to be due on the same day. This has been a thorn in my side. I have asked them for several years to please make that arrangement, and I'm always being told they will take care of it. Every month I pick up my meds and go home to get a text later that day that one of my meds is now ready for pick up. I have spinal issues and am not able to go day after day after day to pick up my monthly meds. Usually I pick up my meds at the drive up after I shop, or sometimes indoors while shopping. They have dropped some of my prescriptions, I mean it fell off the radar and when I ask about it, they told me they haven't given it to me in 7 months. I ask if they can refill it, they say they call the doctor and when I call back later to be sure the meds are ready, they tell me the doctor didn't answer the phone. One medication I have been on monthly for 15 years was not available to me because they gave it to someone who is newly diagnosed with cancer and I should understand that. I had to call the main branch that I had to suffer because they didn't have enough stock. They straightened it out. I am trying to be patient but this is the Bain of my existence. read more

Within walking distance of the MVC and incredibly nice staff. I didn't really understand the term southern charm/hospitality until I arrived in the Carolinas. On our first stop by, to quickly pick up food for Superbowl LIV, a sweet woman helped us to our car to unload and take our cart back. I tried to tip her and she absolutely refused it. She blessed us and wished us a happy day. They have ready made sandwiches, salads, fresh produce, dairy, beer, wine, and pretty much all of the essentials. We grabbed a 4 pack of apple fritters for an easy breakfast and they were really good. All in all, a fantastic experience. read more

About six months ago I began having my prescriptions filled by the Publix Pharmacy at Village Shops in Grande Dunes. Prior to that I had been using a local drug store; but became frustrated with pharmacy closings, shorter hours, and long lines at this location. Upon registering with the Publix Pharmacy, I had the pleasure of coming into contact with the most consummate professional pharmacist, Stephanie (Chayce) Vance. Ms. Vance immediately enrolled me and got my prescriptions into the system. Since that time, I regularly receive updates on when my medications are due for renewal, and they are always available like clockwork. When I go to pick up my prescriptions, Ms. Vance and the other pharmacists and workers are always pleasant, cordial, and ready to answer any questions. The Publix Pharmacy Department is highly efficient, there are never any lines, and all customers are treated cordially and with respect. Kudos to Ms. Vance and the Publix Pharmacy, I would highly recommend this pharmacy to all. read more

Anytime we're down south and need fancy sandwiches for the beach, we hit the Publix deli. The bread rolls are perfect size and soft on the inside while chewy/firm crusts to keep everything inside when you take a bite. Pay the slight up charge for the Boars Head meat, add mayo and your favorite mustard and the works of cheese and veggies and a half is plenty of food. Don't forget to get some house Lemonade, some chips and fruit and head to the beach. Forget Subway or this other guys, you won't regret it. You'll have to wait and your sandwich is made to order and today's retirees employees were kind of overwhelmed with our family of five. Otherwise excellent read more

I broke a general rule of mine by actually reviewing a supermarket. I mean generally, even though they can differ, most people know what they're getting out of a supermarket. Anyway, I like this Publix because on Wednesday's all day, this location does a five dollar to go sushi roll special that I've come to truly love and I have found that the people that work here, from the cashiers, to baggers, to butchers, to produce people, to management, are the friendliest supermarket personnel I've ever encountered. Seriously, customer service is definitely a priority here. It's never too crazy busy and this store is very, very clean. Tons of available parking out front and it's kitty corner from my local Starbucks, so it's convenient for me to grab a coffee drink and also pick up some groceries here. Be aware however, that it closes at 10 p.m. Finally, I also like the sub of the week deal that Publix offers and I might get one of those deals 2 or 3 times a month, just depending on which one is offered. Year after Year, They continue to IMPRESS. The staff is great and always willing to assist, regardless of where and what it is that you are looking for. The bakery is the BEST. They serve and bake the best bread daily. Do your self and family and try it. If its not available they will go out of the way to either make it or have it ready in the morning for you. The deli, is good for fresh Boars Head meats, but there is often a wait. Buts its often due to over demanding customers who want to sample everything to the point where it becomes a dinner service, rather than a purchase. But the deli staff endures and provides great service. Fish selection is good. For a quick meal (at no charge) ask them to steam and season your shrimp. Overall it beats all other food chains nearby for selection, availability and convience. read more

The self checkout has never worked right for me since I bring my own shopping bag..even though I "tell" it I have my own bag. REGIONAL GROCERY CHAIN Good quality produce and deli counter the Publix in this area are 25% or more higher than the one just over the state line in NC. Stores are generally the cleanest on the beach, the deli area is spotless but unfortunately the prices are ridiculously high for this particular area. I prefer to shop at Publix but when they are pricier than Lowes Grocerybut can't afford to. Now that we have Aldis unless it's something that only they carry or I'm cooking for my now ex inlaws it's a rarity. I'm moving to an area where Publix is the closest grocery with next closest food store (Lowes & Walmart) over 45 minute drive. Prices in that area are actually less than Myrtle Beach it's a tourism area also and 3 hours from Charlotte. In this area though the prices versus wages it is just tooooo expensive for day to day. Overall the 10-12 Publix from NC to Jacksonville I have shopped at are top notch just prices locally are $$$$$ vs say Food Lion for a chain comparison$$$$. I actually try to use IGA groceries when possible, most still have either real butchers or meat departments & try to use local produce with reasonable prices. read more

This is quite possibly the cleanest grocery store I've ever seen, and yes, I've been to Wegmans, Roche Brothers, TJs, Whole Foods, Fresh Market, and a lot of other well-loved local and/or regional favorites. I made three or four visits during a recent trip and always left quickly with exactly what I needed, no line, no muss, no fuss. Staff were friendly, helpful, speedy, and competent. Very convenient location that more than meets basic needs for folks vacationing in the area: good selection without spiked tourist prices. Worth the short drive, particularly if you're looking for produce and other fresh items, as compared to the (closer) alternatives. read more

Three words: It's no Wegmans. Being a Northerner, from Western NY, we are extremely spoiled by Wegmans. I love to go to different grocery store chains to see what unique items they have. We stopped in for food for our vacation week while in Myrtle Beach. I think this store is very highly priced. I'm trying to keep in mind this is a vacation town, and this usually happens, but the price of their cold cuts is outrageous. Grapes at $3.99/lb during the SUMMER? Are you kidding? One of the things about Publix that disappoints is the lack of store brand options. For example, I needed to buy scotch tape. There was no off-brand, only name brand, which was $4 for the roll of tape. In general, I didn't think there were as many options for store brands as I normally see elsewhere. The bakery items looked great, but very overpriced for a grocery store. The store was clean and the staff was friendly. read more

Always shop here and have always had a good experience until today. The two women making sandwiches yelled at me when I was standing in front of the hot bar asking what I wanted. I asked them for the sauce for my wings box and she yelled that it wasn't her job to get the sauce and that I could buy it off the shelf. I explained we always get the sauce when we buy a fresh wings box and it's never an issue. She rolled her eyes and said "you'll just have to wait until this line for subs is finished" I explained I wasn't trying to rush them as I was just standing here patiently waiting for someone to come ask what I needed before she yelled "what do you want" in the beginning. Absolutely horrible service and those sandwich makers should be retrained in customer service. I shop here all of the time and felt like I was at Walmart the way she spoke to me and acted. Very disappointed in this store today. I'll just shop at lowes foods if this is what this store is coming to. read more

This is one of the cleanest Publix I've been in and was impressed with their self check out kiosks. The produce was well stocked and extremely fresh.
