Swear there are more Food Lion locations in this area than you would expect. There are more of these than other grocery store chains in the area. Stopped in here to grab a few things. Not that we hadn't done that so many times during the week. I can't even remember what I actually came in here for, but I definitely did come out of here with some stuff. I grabbed some soda for drinks later and headed for the registers. This is where it got a bit tedious. I know I have an awards account with them but for some reason it would not take my phone number. I had to go through my phone, find the app, and open it up to get the barcode to scan. Only paper bags here, which was weird to carry to bottles of soda out of here. I just like a standard Food Lion just in another state. I love Food Lion and I wish they were around where I lived. It just happened to be the grocery store that we were shopping at during our vacation and I love Food Lion. The employees are nice and the store is brightly lit so it's easy to find things. read more

This Food Lion became our home away from home since we had a house around MP 20 and this store was a very short shot up 158. Overall I would say this is a fantastic third rate grocery shopping experience while in OBX. Third rate because on my subjective and highly informal pecking order, I would put Food Lion behind places like Harris Teeter and certainly Publix in everyway that matters to me - selection & price. Selection I somewhat get since it was the offseason and clearly they're only getting new deliveries here every few days at best. I.E. as soon as you enter the store and turn hard right towards the deli they have a fridge case with store brand large pizzas at a decent price. They had a few of them available on Monday the first time came here during our week but that section remained empty until Saturday and I came to this store four times during the week. It wasn't just the pizza but also several other things that when they were out, they were out for days. I'm somewhat accustomed to that as in prior offseason visits I had been to the store up in Corolla and in the offseason they would close at 8pm or 7pm and have basically the entire left side of the store tarped off closed until ??, I guess Spring. Also, at home for me the Giant grocery store chain is the prominent player and Ahold is the corporate parent of both Giant and Food Lion so it was no surprise to me on the irregularity of certain items availability as the three Giant stores closest to me at home have been having those issues for years whereas local Wegmans are always more expensive, yet more fully stocked. The prices are what they are, the selection is fine as long as you're not looking anything too specialized or unique but I will say that the employees we encountered here were all very, very nice and that made the shopping trips a little bit nicer. Could it be better? No doubt but if I wanted that I would have gone to Publix and paid more but to me this is a-ok, good enough. read more

Bottom Line: Not fancy but has all the basics. This Food Lion located in the Nags Head Mall is a bit dated and isn't fancy but it's certainly adequate for everyday grocery shopping. Aside from the basics, some special treats I appreciated being able to pick up here are Tillamook dairy products and Ukrops bakery items. Also I like the convenience of the self check out lanes since more often than not I'm just grabbing a handful of items. During the on-season this store is a zoo on Saturdays and Sundays but it's quite pleasant on weekday mornings. read more

Do not visit the grocery stores on the OBX on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. These are the change over times where new residents move in for the week. We knew this, but forgot a few things for dinner and ended up going anyhow. Lots of empty shelves, very little social distancing and frustratingly long lines even though lanes were empty. read more

There are about four within a 10-mile radius. Large grocery store on the main road and with a huge parking lot. The interior was bright, clean, and well organized. Prices seem reasonable and items were adequately stocked. Staff were abundant and helpful. There was no line in the speedy lanes. We were in and out within 10 minutes, getting some water bottles and paper towels. I recommend it! read more

This Nags Head Food Line has the greatest grocery selections, from vegetables to frozen foods. All the associates were friendly and very helpful. I recommend coming to this Food Line between mile markers 13-16. What a great experience. read more

Visited this place every day during our week's long visit to the outer banks in July 2011. If you visit in summer, expect it to feel like the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas eve every day in this store with hordes of people pushing 1-2 carts full of junk food that they wouldn't buy normally but hey, they're on vacation. Close, clean supermarket to Nags Head rentals. They seem to be fair prices, which is good because sometimes in a beach enviroment the stores love to raise their prices for everything. When I went in September they had a creepy baby in a nic case where you could put money in to help raise money for the local hospital. My one complaint is move out of their store because its in bad taste and just creepy. read more

We have been doing online orders for the last year and today when they got to my house (which has 13 steps up) the bags were so heavy that we could hardly lift them. Reading the previous reviews, I was scared to go into this place. However, my experience was very pleasant: 1.) Good prices - don't worry about being ripped off by $5 for one pepper "deals". 2.) Crowded? Please! It wasn't any more crowded than supermarket shopping on a Sunday. 3.) Nice looking, modern supermarket with everything you could want. They even had GOYA products!! I love Food Lion for that fact alone. I was expecting ghetto mart from the reviews, but this is actually a nice place. No worries! read more

Can I really review a supermarket? I think I can... It isn't like you're not going to come here. It's a supermarket - it has the things you need/want and cheaper than a smaller shop. But I can talk about what I saw in there. It's a supermarket and sells everything that a normal supermarket sells. But it's a mad house in there. There are lots of items missing (the B1G1 free bread was completely gone), and the lines to check out are brutally long. But the good thing is that the prices are cheap and do not try to take advantage of tourists at all, they have the things you need/want (maybe not the brand, but they have at least something that'll do), and they're open 24 hours. This is probably the cleanest, newest, largest food lion I have been to. They had everything we needed and this one is right near where our friends beach house. The staff are friendly and its well stocked. I'm impressed a holiday weekend and their shelves were pretty full. read more

Avoid coming here if you can - friendly neighborhood market this is not!!! Came here at 7:40 to get a couple of items (holding in my hands) and only one cashier was working. When I asked someone if I could get checked out at customer service the woman in customer service glared me down so I decided to leave and shop somewhere else. So again drive a couple extra minutes to go to the Harris teater down the street or wait till the neighboring fresh market is open. read more

The only thing that was unpleasant was the lack of clothing on some people who my daughter and I had to look at in front of us in line and around the store... Great store where the help is extremly friendly! It does get a bit busy during the summer time, but that is to be expected due to the high tourist activity. Proper planning and you should be able to get in and out, ie tourist check in time are on Fri. & Sat. so try to avoid those days unless you can go late at nite (they are open 24 hrs/per day during the summer time) They always have what is needed even though they go through such a high volume of goods. I would strongly recomend Food Lion over Harris Teeter due to the price difference. read more
