I love the convenience of having a grocery store nearby our condo! I've never heard of Food Lion but they operate stores in ten states (Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia & West Virginia). Located in the Ocean City Square SC, the only specialty features of this store is a deli and bakery. There is no in-house bank, no floral or seafood departments, no coffee store inside. And due to state laws, no alcohol either which is my only inconvenience. Prices were dirt cheap compared to Hawaii, so I felt like a millionaire shopping in a thrift store, LOL! They also have their own line of generically-labeled items and a loyal customer rewards program. Aisles were fairly wide and inventory tidy and well-stocked. Friendly staff. Cashiers with no line wait for customers at the front of their lanes rather than behind the register. OVERALL: Good service and great prices! read more

Probably rudest grocery store I've ever been to. Some associates don't even acknowledge you at check out. Some are texting on their phones doing nothing and say you shouldn't be in express check out line if you have slightly over 12 items. Others don't know any types of potatoes and charge you whatever they guess that day. Some don't know enough English to be a cashier. Self check out you get fussed at if you bring your own bags and try to put stuff on the bigger metal part. read more

I don't know why Yelp* has a grocer classified as a department store. Go figure. My bride and I are spending a few days in OC starting with the long Thanksgiving weekend. This store was my first choice for buying a few staples to keep us til Wednesday. I know we're in the off season, but, this store was loaded with help. The most I've seen in any FL in some time. This store was also well stocked and very well merchandised. I did cherry pick for deals and, where possible, smaller sizes. The latter was met by ADUSA brands: Food Lion, Nature's Promise and Taste of Inspirations. The latter two brands are also prominent at Giant, Martin's, Stop n Shop and Hannaford. Check out clerk was very friendly and efficient. I'm beginning to think brass was visiting. Even if they weren't, this visit was among the best ever experienced at Food Lion. read more

Located within walking distance of various hotels and a block away from the beach. There is ample parking right on premises. Right at the corner you have a bus stand. I've seen many taking the bus here. Prices are very reasonable considering it being located in a tourist/vacationing area. For instance, a container of fruits was priced at $3.99/lb which is average of what we pay in a Shop Rite in New Jersey. While they don't have a variety of brand options for things such as utensils or make up they do have them for paper towels, eggs, etc. On occasions they've been low on inventory. Yet, on the other hand everything there has been fresh and I would absolutely return here. read more

I remember coming here a lot with my former employer shopping for their kids - they get milk here twice a week or also go to Walmart - cereal- grain bars - veggies - eggs - the staples, a lot of caprisun I remember and dairy products and frozen food - fish sticks and drumsticks and I picked up some Indian curry sauce for dinners and rice - was here often and a decent grocery store to shop at . We presented the bakery manager (Paul) with a picture of what we wanted and he told us that his bakery team could make it happen for us. They were amazing to work with from start to finish. Horrible customer service!!!! Never been treated this way at a store ever! The power went out as we were in the store, and I understand that they may have to get customers out as a result, but speaking to customers in a disrespectful manner should never be allowed. We were about to grab a bottle of allergy medicine when a Caucasian girl, slim with black/brown hair past her shoulders comes up to my husband and I and says abruptly that we need to check out now and points to the cashiers. We look over and see lines, so we say okay and I turn to grab the medicine. She then proceeds to say, "No, you either check out now or leave the store!" We say okay, can i just grab the medicine, she replies, "you can either check out NOW or leave the store!". We are in Ocean city on vacation and chose not to tolerate being disrespected so we put our basket down and told her we would not be patronizing the store. She screams down the isle as she walks away, "FINE BY ME!!" We were in shock! We called the manager as we got in the car to let him know of the service we experienced and he tells us that the same staff member is now screaming in his ear as he speaks so he can barely hear what we are saying to him. What kind of staff member is allowed to scream at their manager while they speak to customers on the phone??? This is not a store that deems customer service as important. We will not be returning and will also deter others from patronizing when visiting Ocean City. read more

This Food Lion is located in Ocean City Square Shopping Center in Ocean City MD. Last month from 10/9/20-10/11/20 I was on vacation with my family in Ocean City MD and when we got there on the 9th we needed a place to stock up on food. We found a Food Lion 2 minutes away from the Golden Sands Club Condos where we stayed. It's been ages since I have last been to a Food Lion since they are all but non existent in PA anymore. It was a great shopping experience they had everything we needed and more! The checkout cashier was friendly and engaging too. We were paticurly fond of the bakery section too that made our nights worth it! It was very convenient having the Food Lion 2 minutes away as we had to go back out for more stuff a few hours later for our dinner. We loved our stay at the Golden Sands Club Condos and if we stay there again we know there is a good food store right around the corner! read more

I am giving this location a one star for the horrible service and rude service we received at their "Customer Service" desk when trying to pick up a Western Union Money payment. We were on vacation in Bethany Beach and saw this was a WU location. I called to ask about picking up the funds because it was a large amount and received rude phone service and them telling me they didn't have the money. Several hours later we decided to give them a try and my husband went in met by a rude woman named Tracy who told him that he needed a passport or a social security card with a drivers license and refused to do the transaction. Who travels within the US with their passport and Social Security card? We leave and try a Super Fresh where the people were very nice but just didn't have the money in their till. They even wondered why they wanted a passport or Social Security Card. We decided to return to Food Lion after we put in a call to the Western Union customer service line where we were told that that is not their policy and that all we needed was a state issued id, or a drivers license and our D.O.B and that if we had a problem we should give them a call so they could speak to the people in the store. Upon return, we get Bert! Grumpy Bert who instantly looked at the amount and seemed surprised. I asked him if that was a lot of money and he replied that they didn't have that kind of money(under 2000)! Now we are in Ocean City, Md, not exactly small town USA! He goes in the office to confer with Tracy who comes out again to tell us about the two I.d. Requirement and I told her exactly what Western Union said and was met by silence and then slight cooperation. Knowledge is power people! Now Bert wants to nit pick because the clerk on the sending end added and extra N on my husbands name and he, and I quote, says, 'I'm not sure I can do this because the name is wrong." Blank stare! Once again, an example of people in customer service who need to look for other career possibilities! Tracy proceeded to tell him to do it and after some hemming and hawing, he did it. And what i found surprising is when Bert asked someone to give him $2000. She proceeded to open up the safe, count it and give it to him. Oh, so now you miraculously have it. He had it al along and knew it. Needless to say, we got our money and I promise to never set foot in there again! Now I remember why we prefer Bethany Beach over OC any day of the week. Grumpy people aggravate me. If you want good service, don't go here. If you like rude and aggravating customer service by people who are supposed to lead by example, go for it! read more

This Food Lion is pretty reliable. We came for $45 worth of snacks and left with $45 worth of snacks. Mission accomplished if you ask me. Friendly cashier too! went to get a money order - service desk staff could not figure out how to feed the paper into the unit - waited well over 25 minutes as two people kept trying the same thing over and over and over to get it to work - they would not call the floor manager for help so i went out and found him stocking shelves - he told me that he would not know how to fix it - to come back but i pushed him - asking - you are the store manager and you dont even want to go see what the problem is - you are not even interested in taking a look - he then went back to the service desk with me and he could not figure out how to load the machine - what a waste of my time read more

So, customer service kind of sucks here. Just went grocery shopping there. Seemed everyone of the employees were speaking Russian. Maybe it's cultural. The workers didn't seem to proactively acknowledge the customers around them. Like, a checker or bagger didn't even say "hello" when they began checking us out in line. the two spoke Russian to each other. Probably talking about my family! Seemed kind of rude. Perhaps they didn't intend it to be. I'll just know what to expect for next time. read more
