What a find! I was just perusing on google maps looking at what's nearby and stumbled upon this…read moreshack. Without actually vetting this place out beforehand I would've never stopped by. I'm here to continue with spreading the word that this place serves top quality sandwiches. I even reheated my leftover sandwich for my husband the next day and he gave it a solid 9.2 saying it's one of the best chicken sandwiches he had (tried the somerset). Imagine if he ate it fresh? When you order, they even deliver it to your car. Think Sonic vibes. Definitely stopping by again in the future to try more items.

This was my first time and I kept it simple with the Rueben (special sandwiches section on the…read moremenu). It contains Swiss cheese, Roasted Turkey, Sauerkraut, and Thousand Island on Rye bread. I also added sauteed onions. Overall, it was okay, lacking some flavor and it was not as filling as I'd expected. I wanted to understand and experience the hype about American Melts, but it fell flat for me. It was just okay. Despite being underwhelmed, I am still giving 4 stars because the service was great and I am impressed with the price range. Every sandwich on their menu is under $10, and that stands out especially these days when a mediocre burger is $15+ minimum. You can even "build your own grilled cheese" sandwich. For these reasons, I am willing to give American Melts another try and perhaps a different item on the menu.

Every eatery here at Newark is a chain, the infamous Steak Escape is no different. I have probably…read moreeaten here more times than I'd like to admit, but when the neighboring food stands don't open early or stay open late, beggars can't be choosers. It can be best summed up at this: skip their "famous" cheesesteaks and just go for their overpriced breakfast. It's not exactly diner quality stuff, but at the very least there is enough variety to keep people interested. Service is pretty atrocious, enough to where it's best to figure out what you want ahead of time instead of asking the counter folks. I've seen too many visitors try to do this, only to get shot down every time. It also helps minimize the risk of having to rush to your flight, which is something most people have to consider when dining in at an airport. I give them an extra star for offering hashbrowns. Not the McDonalds patty kind, but actual shredded, grilled hashbrowns.

Let's face it, "mignon" is often the word places use to indicate "wrapped in bacon", as inappropriately as they use "-holic" to indicate addiction or "-gate" to indicate a scandal (there's gotta be a word for that, right?), so I wanted to be sure. Pork makes me nauseous, but the employee told me the sandwich contained only steak so I placed the order. The first half of my sandwich was gross and I wasn't sure why. When I picked up the second half, I opened it up to find several pieces of bacon. Note to the employee: BACON COUNTS AS PORK. I removed the bacon and the second half of the sandwich was delicious. I'd give the place at least three stars for the taste and quality of the portion of my sandwich that wasn't oozing with pig, but they lose all stars because YOU DO NOT EVER TELL SOMEONE A DISH IS FREE OF PORK UNLESS YOU ARE SURE. And this goes as well for beef, shellfish, gluten, phenylalanine, red 40, ANYTHING. Tell me you're not sure about a dish and I'll pick something else. Tell me you are sure, and you lose a customer forever if you're wrong..
