I am not easy to trust medical professionals, but almost immediately upon meeting Pam I felt comfortable and confident that she had always my best interest at heart. She allowed my husband to come to sessions with me, skyped with me when we couldn't meet in person (and therefore got to know my pug!), and overall went above and beyond in every way. If finances would allow I would see Pam regularly forever - fortunately in our two years together she has brought me to a place where I can be independent and only need to come in once and a while to check in. This is enormous progress for me, and I genuinely don't think anyone else could have gotten me there. When I first went to see her, I was a wreck health-wise - mentally and physically. Every nutritionist or eating disorder program I went to before I found Pam denied me because I wasn't "actively" sick - because somehow self awareness about your issues cancels out the need for help - even if you don't know how to get truly healthy on your own. I've been going to the Smithtown location. First of all my visits are covered by my insurance but…read morefor some reason there is a $30 scale fee? For what? And then to top it off they charge you 4% credit card fee. I've never heard of a charge for a scale fee, they don't even bill the insurance to see if it would be covered or not, it's like their little hidden fee that they get away with. If your BMI falls under 25 they will charge you $100 a visit plus scale fee $30 because they will tell you there is no code once you fall under a certain number, which is BS because a lot of people need help maintaining weight as well not just help with losing, so I'm sure there is a Code to bill for that, your a "weight loss center" your there to help people not only to lose weight but to help them keep it off. What doesn't even make more sense is that the girls at the desk will charge me my co-pay when I first walk in & they don't even know my weight, only to come out of my appt with Melissa go back to the front desk to get a refund because my BMI is over, the office should not take a co-pay until patient has been weighed, very unorganized!
