My opinion, give it a fair chance. Compare it with the equivalent in Amsterdam when it started. Full, full, full, smoke, smoke and tears in my eyes. Not the place i wanted to be. Few weeks after the opening on a saturday afternoon. Nice vietnamese food, price avarage. Beer blond from own brewery 4,75. I am not complaining about the price . Its less than its counterpart in Big City Amsterdam. So i say check out Mout !! Its fun place. read more

'De kop is eraf', a.k.a. the early rush has subsided a bit. When the weather's good it still seems as if there is no place to sit, but then you walk inside and there is plenty seating-space. I like the concept, with several eating options and a big plus is that they brimg everything to your table. Downside is the portions vs the prices. The first are a bit to high in relation to the amount you get. On average should be at least one or rather € 2 less. But that's for the location and hype I guess.... read more

These are early days, but currently Mout is too expensive, too smokey, too stupidly trendy and because it's new, too busy. Hopefully it'll work itself out. Been there twice now in their opening week. First - know everything is a la carte - order a burger, you get just a burger..no fries, nothing else. Better get a few things, because getting service again to order more is a bit of a trial, as many of the staff seem to prefer to chat with their friends. And since it's a la carte, the bill will be closer to the €20-30 range than €10-20. About the food - the dim sum we had (3 rice-paper wraps) was quite nice but the burger (their most expensive brisket burger) was done nicely but small; perhaps half the size of a similarly priced burger at Burgers' Bar down the street. The beers and ales are either brewed locally or there on the premises - this is where Mout does best. Go there for the grog and you'll be probably happy. The big advantage is that Mout has a large outdoor space, right on Hilversum's new marktplein - and it's a wonderful space...if you smoke. There is no non-smoking section and worse yet, most of the seating is on large picnic-table rows, so you'll soon have a smoker and his crew, eager of a space, camped out next to you. The restaurant needs to be a bit smart in this regard - it's a really large area, and it's not hard to say one side is smoking, one is not. This isn't the 1990s - smoking is something a restaurant needs to manage. We left soon after we were surrounded on both sides, our drinks dodging the ashes flying about in the breeze. We probably won't be back until a non-smoking area is addressed, or they open up smaller tables where you don't have it so much in your face (and clothes, and food..). There are a few separate round tables next to the building, suitable for 2-4, but these are prime locations, camped out for hours. I've seen more half-full glasses of wine pushed around while the malingerers bask in the sun and scene..hence the "too trendy" part of my criticism. Fine if they're drinking or eating, but they seem to be camping. I've lived in this town for nearly 20 years, and I understand Dutch culture very well, so I know how fashion and fads come and go. I guess in a few months the bar might be ready for suggestions, but now they're the new kids in town and are happy to ignore the odd customer who isn't comfortable. read more

My favorite place in Hilversum! They have a large selection of drinks and different kinds of cuisines to choose your food from. Food is ordered at the food stands, drinks will be served at the table . Great atmosphere! read more

Terrible Terrible TERRIBLE customer service!!!! The guys who work there have to realise they are working in a "service business" and they are not doing us a favour for visiting the place. I went there with two friends. I ordered a double vodka with tonic water. Outside 35 degrees celsius. They brought me my vodka in a simple glass no ice on it plus a warm tonic water. Maybe they thought I was sick or so and they wanted to kill any germs with warm vodka under the sun and 35 degrees outside. Then it was time for the food. My friend ordered a four cheese pizza. First of all it took them ages to bring the pizza and it was not what we ordered. I can understand that mistakes can happen. What I cannot accept though is a 20 year old waiter insisting that we are lying and that we ordered a margarita instead of a 4-cheese pizza. It's pizza ordering not rocket science !!! We told them politely that we ordered a "4-cheese" pizza and not a margarita but the waiter was insisting that we ordered a margarita. Finally they took the pizza back and they brought the correct one. P.S with the correct pizza, and after being so rude, they decided that it is the proper time to ask for +3 euros because the 4-cheese pizza was more expensive. A total DISGRACE !!!!! Hope this place goes bankrupt soon even though with such a service I can see that coming sooner than expected. read more

Very very bad costumer service. We ordered a couple of drinks and some food but I got the wrong pizza. Instead of taking the pizza back I had to argue for 5 minutes that I did not order this pizza and that I do not want this pizza. After 5 minutes the waiter realized that I did not want to eat the wrong pizza so he left. After another 10 minutes another waitress came to ask me what pizza I ordered after I told her she ask for more money because apparently the wrong pizza was 3euros cheaper. I never had such a bad service and it was not even a busy weekend, it was a quite Monday night. read more
