"The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form…read moreof poison." Ann Wigmore 'The Conscious Cook' is a wonderful establishment where they offer live cooking classes that not only educates you about eating healthy, but also introduces you to a whole new world of foods. I attended a Vegan meetup here and was introduced to a live demo of 'Plant Based Nutrition for Cancer Prevention.' The owner, Sadie King and vegan chef and Health Coach, Landry Fuller prepared easy, flavorful dishes that were full of vitamins and antioxidants to keep your immune system strong and your body healthy. This was a great event to attend for those who want to try and change their diet and improve their health. We learned how cancer can be prevented by making smarter food choices including nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables, fiber, herbs and spices. 'The Conscious Cook' also offers an array of classes from all types of ethnic cuisine to themed dessert classes. It's also a fun way to bring a group of friends to and participate in. You don't even have to be a vegan and/or vegetarian to enjoy these dishes. Just have an open mind. :) Check out their website for healthy plant-based cooking classes, health and wellness coaching for individual clients and groups who are seeking healthier eating and more balanced lifestyles, monthly programs as well as talks, workshops and cooking classes. They even sell products such as the Saladmaster, which has been shown to be the best method for cooking. Here's more information: http://conscious-cook.com/saladmaster/ You are what you eat. I am a true believer of that. If you want to live a long and healthy life, having a healthy diet is the first step. In my opinion, plant based nutrition has been the most impactful and beneficial lifestyle for me. The food is amazingly delicious and that in turn affects my mood and overall well-being. I have never felt more energetic, youthful, and vibrant. 'The Conscious Cook' gets my thumbs up ! It's a business that I support and know people can learn and benefit from. They are really passionate about what they do and it shows in their food. So grab a group of friends or fly solo and attend a class. Get VEGUCATED peeps ! :)

She coordinated the menu with us before we left the East Coast. We made Alvacado hummus rainbow slaw salad, Thai Stry Fry, and Superfood Truffles. I hesitated on booking a cooking class for a long time. You know how it is. You stare at the price,…read moreyou do the math, you think "I could just go eat sushi." And that's where most people screw up, because eating out you can blow a pile of money and walk away with nothing but a receipt and a vague feeling you got hustled. Then I pulled the trigger on Chef Krong for my birthday. Best decision I made all year. Here's the thing nobody tells you about cooking classes: a good one isn't about the food, it's about what your kids walk away knowing. And let me tell you, my kids LEARNED. Real, actual hard skills. Not "we waved some seaweed around" skills. A week later they made a mountain of sushi entirely on their own. Unprompted. Voluntarily. If you've got kids, you know that's basically witchcraft. Chef Krong made the whole thing a hit. She's patient, she's a real teacher, and she turns your kitchen into the best restaurant in town for an evening. You bring her into your house and suddenly everybody's happy, everybody's involved, and you're eating better than any place that's gonna stick a $14 cocktail on your tab. Money well spent doesn't even cover it. This is one of those rare deals where you pay for something and it actually keeps paying you back. We are absolutely doing another session. Huge recommendation. Stop staring at the price. Book it.

I was extremely disappointed we didn't actually cook anything. Everyone was very nice but my expectations for a $100 + cooking class per person were not met considering we didn't cook anything. I was handed a packet with all the recipes for the food we were "making". The first recipe was the crab rangoon except all we did was stuff the wonton wrappers and actually put it together. Same with the bao buns. At no point were the porcupine meatballs even a thing. They were made prior, mentioned, and put on our plates. Everything was made in advance. So I paid to fill wonton wrappers and get printed out recipes I could find online. Also, we weren't even going to get to stuff the bao buns. They were going to have a group of people do each thing - 1 to stuff the buns and the other crab Rangoon except I said I wanted to do the buns too so everyone got to do a couple. Honestly the food was bland except for the bao buns. I won't be using their recipes. Truely disappointed and feel like I was swindled out of money. They should be more forthcoming about what this "cooking class" entails. It's not actually cooking.

So they had offered a "trial class"" - had an okay first class, but it was too basic for my children so we decided to not enroll and enroll in another local swim class. BEWARE - what they didn't tell you is that their trial classes cost the same as a class and they auto-register your child for recurrent classes (despite emailing them that we were not enrolling). My children are all in MULTIPLE activities across San Diego, and never once do people offer a trial class only to CHARGE you if you decline automatic enrollment. Very sneaky policy - will never recommend to anyone as "finding the right fit" for your child is definitely not their top priority.

The reason was price,…read morewhat started as $80 a month for one child, which I thought was expensive but tolerable, has recently morphed into $295. That's for 2 kids, so let's double the original $80 and account for inflation over 5 years.... I still don't manage to get anywhere near $295. That's ALOT of money just for a few 30 minute lessons. I also have to add that these lessons were rarely a full 30 minutes, mostly because of other kids in the class showing up late and then huge drama as they get in and fuss with their goggles, while my kid (who did show up on time) sits being ignored. Lessons would routinely not get going until 10 minutes in. The teachers and the pool staff were mostly great, but the value for money has disappeared. The staff who took my cancellation didn't even ask why, and the pool staff said we weren't the first. Maybe Covid is a justification but I doubt when things get back to normal the prices will return to 2019 levels - if they do I might consider returning, but for now we have taken our kids to a different school.
