We wanted a family vegan cooking class and Sadie created a great class for the four of us.

Everyone had the best time, and the food was incredible. Chef Teri was super responsive from my first email, and she made the booking process easy. I had my team peruse sample menus on the Eatsies site, and we landed on grilled flatbreads with homemade ricotta and strawberry napoleon. The grilled flatbreads can be done with figs, but they weren't in season, so Chef Teri instead showed us how to make the delicious Piatti's garlic dip. Chef arrived with everything we needed (all ingredients as well as equipment). She started off the class by showing us some basic knife skills, and she shared good stories, tips, and tricks throughout the entire lesson. She was great about ensuring each of us got to try out every step so that we would really learn how to make each recipe. The combo of the grilled flatbread with the homemade ricotta (SO good!) and the garlic dip (almost like a chimichurri) was scrumptious! The strawberry napoleon was fun to assemble, beautiful, and delicious. That vanilla lemon whipped cream was *chef's kiss! We all got to enjoy the fruits of our labor right then, and we had some leftovers to send home with people. I think each of us have already made at least one of the recipes again already. The garlic dip is also an excellent marinade on any kind of meat. The entire experience was just perfect. Teri is incredibly fun and engaging, she makes recipes and techniques easy to understand and execute on, and the final product was so good. We will absolutely do more with Chef Teri in the future, and I would recommend Eatsies to everyone!

The price quoted for this was a somewhat steep $375. To my wife's shock and amazement, this ballooned to $494 once our credit card was charged; not only tax, but 18% gratuity on the original excessive amount, was added. Within a few days we decided this was a bad idea overall, and phoned to cancel. After a few confusing telephone and email exchanges, my wife received email notification that they would retain 25% (approximately $125) as a cancellation fee! To date, we still have not come to a satisfactory resolution regarding our refund. Altogether it has been a very frustrating and time-consuming experience. Update: our credit card company issued us a credit for the full amount, and took matters into their own hands.

I was pretty excited because my friend told me that we were going to learn how to cook and have dinner at the Kitchen Art Studio. We learned how to make chicken empanaditas and seared scallops piccata with pasta, and just torch the sugar on the creme brulee since the creme brulee was already premade. We had some wine that we brought and they provided us with strawberry lemonade to drink. It was a fun experience however it is a bit pricey. For a large group we paid about ~$60-80 a person granted it was for a cooking lesson along with gratuity. There were about 15-20 of us and they could not split the check which ended up being a huge hassle since the bill was over a thousand and we had to put it on one card. I don't know whether or not I'd come back again since I think this place is intended for large parties but overall it was a good experience and the instructor was very friendly and informative.

Don't forget his kitschy little cooking show! It's also nice that he is a friendly and unassuming and makes cooking and BBQ-ing look so easy and painless. You missed it! Jazz Artist Rose Mallet Featured This Evening…read more One of the best-kept secrets in any community is its community center. While many people think of exercise classes or meetings, these centers often host incredible cultural events at surprisingly affordable prices. That is exactly what I found at the La Jolla Community Center's summer concert series featuring jazz vocalist Rose Mallet. The evening was elegant without being pretentious. The concert lasted about 75 minutes and attracted a mature audience, though I couldn't help but think younger adults are missing out by not exploring the non-traditional venues. Tickets were very reasonably priced compared to many jazz performances around Southern California, making this an exceptional value.$30.00. The center also showcases artwork from local artists throughout the building, with many pieces available for purchase. A simple snack bar offers reasonably priced refreshments, with most items costing under $5. The venue is comfortable and accommodating, with plentiful restrooms, indoor seating on folding chairs, and spacious outdoor seating that includes large communal tables and smaller café-style tables. Seating is open, so arriving early is worthwhile. I arrived around 7:30 p.m. and had no trouble finding free street parking, though valet parking is also available. Most attendees dressed casually. As for me, I took the opportunity to dress like my fashionista self and the occasion is always worth it If you're looking for an inexpensive evening of live music, art, and community, don't overlook your local community center. Hidden gems like this are exactly why I enjoy exploring them. I'll definitely be back for another performance this summer. TIP: Sane day purchase is $5.00 more per ticket after 12 pm

As…read morea newbie into healthcare/emergency services etc and without any previous knowledge like anatomy classes etc, I had so much to learn, just listen in lectures and you'll pass and do great. I did the accelerated course for 5 weeks Mon-Thu 8am-5pm. Tips: 1. whether you have general knowledge of the topics covered in an EMT course or not, acknowledge that you are gonna be digesting a lottttt of new information. Get good sleep, take your notes, apply yourself don't just show up to class and expect to pass 2. Create a good set up. I did my sign/symptoms homework over the weekend in addition to the online JBL quizzes. (both graded). This way during the week all I had to worry about was learning new information, being ahead, and studying for the in person quiz and exam. 3. Ask questions, the instructor is a tool that you can use. They are always there to help you and want you to succeed. Super knowledgeable and helpful, just have the courage to ask questions, especially when it's needed. 4. Sign up for your 2 required EMS rides early, if you do them in the second or third week it's better. A lot of the students including myself put dates for the last 2 weeks of the course, however EMS services can only have so many ride alongs.Hence, I just finished the course and am taking my 2nd ride along the week after because it was backed up. Do it early. 5. Make friends in the class and help each other out. We were all able to bond over the topics that were harder to learn etc, it ended up helping a lot. Everyone the first week is obviously nervous but everyone is super nice just put yourself out there. 6. When your class is studying together for the quiz or exam and Spencer is talking, listen CAREFULLY to what he says, if he repeats something or says it slowly, it's for a reason, study it for the quiz/exam. You will be doing yourself the biggest disadvantage if you don't listen to the instructor in class. 7. The skills assessments. You get out what you put in. Skills instructors are there to help teach you and correct you in practice, but be able to make mistakes and learn before skills testing day. 8. Manage your time effectively. Some students understood the information better than others and were able to enjoy themselves more outside of class time, for students like myself, the information was hard to grasp and the extra time outside of class is needed to study more. Expect to be done with class, go home and study what you learned. 9. Quizlet helps a lot, however cross check the information on there with your notes. (the book wasn't really much of help). But Spencer goes over all of the important topics in detail. Quizlet is good for practice but know your definitions and how things work. 10. Not everyone in the class but most were taken as a prerequisite for Fire Service. Super nice to network with everyone on this journey and get more information about the different routes people are on. I believe we started with 60 individuals and ended with 40 passing or so. Overall, the class was not that difficult if you followed these. At a bare minimum, turn everything in on time, keep up in the class or get ahead, LISTEN to the instructor. Great experience. Also the Cargo Cafe coffee shop there is phenomenal. Very convenient. About to take NREMT, super confident and studying pocket prep after the class. Goodluck y'all.
