I am so happy that there is a large international market near where I do most of my general shopping. I love that the produce is fresh and reasonably priced. Other items are higher (as expected). They have a wonderful deli and fish market as well. The staff have been helpful when I have requested that items be replenished, and things are relatively easy to find. Credit cards can only be used on $10+ orders and of course you will pay for bags. On the weekends it can be a bit crowded, so pack your patience, or be like me and go in off hours. read more

This is for the cashier working at the EBT check out on Christmas eve and management at a whole. I am writing to express my disappointment with a customer service experience I had at your New Carrollton Foodway location on Christmas Eve 2025. While checking out, I mistakenly stood in the EBT-only line because I intended to use my WIC benefits for ripe plantains. Instead of being politely informed of the mistake, the cashier responded in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. She stated, "You didn't see the sign? I take only EBT," accompanied by an unwelcoming tone, gestures, and overall demeanor that made me feel demeaned and disrespected. The situation worsened when, at the end of checkout, I noticed that the item intended for WIC was rung up on my EBT card. When I calmly asked why this occurred, I was told to "talk to management," again with visible frustration and disgust, as if I were being treated like a child rather than a valued customer. I understand that misunderstandings happen, especially during busy holidays, but there are respectful and professional ways to address them. Unfortunately, this interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in a store that serves a diverse and supportive community. Foodway plays an important role in the New Carrollton community, and without the support of this community, the store would not thrive. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and provide additional customer service training so that all guests--especially those using assistance programs--are treated with dignity and respect. read more

They have a 24 hour policy for fresh produce return if you discover that it went bad. Most households don't consume the fresh producers in 24 hours. Just imagine buying produce(sour sop) from them Worth $100, $60 and $25 respectively on different occasions and you find out that everything has gone bad after 48hrs. Do not buy expensive produce from them that you know might go bad and you are not gonna be using before twenty four hours. They will refuse giving you a refund not even store credit. read more

I love this international market as it has so many different food option from all over the world. The have fresh fish and fresh fruit which is always a plus. My only problem is the location of this market. There is not enough parking for the amount of customers that come to shop. It gets really crazy in the parking lot. It is in a plaza with other stores, and personally I think it needs to be by itself as a business and create more parking spaces for customers. read more

Can you smell what Foodway is cooking? Seriously when you walk in you get with this smell of salt fish, raw meat, fruits and veggies! We stopped here to get our grilling meats for the Memorial Day weekend bbq. The grocery store is in a strip mall, but tends to get crowed so be ready to maneuver around. It's well worth it though, minus that funky smell hahaha. This place has fresh well priced produce! A fresh and butchered cuts meat department and a variety of ethnic items that are not so easy to find outside of metro areas. I will def go back when visiting the fam in MD. I saw tons of Hispanic items like pre made el pastor meat, fajita meat and thinly sliced butterflied chicken cutlets... I hope you enjoy your visit as I did. read more

Store stinks. Lack of product. If you're coming in the store for something small and you don't have cash don't shop here, just go somewhere else. $10 minimum to use your debit card, that's not posted anywhere so here is your warning. Cashiers rude. Won't be back. Came in for small stuff to make for breakfast and left empty handed because I didn't have cash. I'm sure this store gets enough patronage to remove the minimum requirement for using a debit card it's 2020, lets do better. read more

Do not shop here if you want to get ripped off and scam. I bought beets that i didnt know had fungus and they refused to exchange or refund my money with the recipit. The beets were still underneath the plastic. So they basically stole from me. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I spoke to a woman at the store and asked if I could be refunded for my purchase for Perdue ground chicken because it was not good quality. She advised that maybe I left the meat out. Why are you assuming what happened? I didn't ask for your assumptions and I did not leave it out. I bought it Thursday, it was refrigerated for 24 hours and then I cooked it Friday and ate it Friday night. The call was made Saturday. She said too many days passed by? Well sometimes people don't cook their meat immediately and that needs to be taken into account. I asked repeatedly to speak to the manager. She first said she spoke to the manager already and he said no to the refund and then I asked to speak to him directly and the woman said she was the manager? Who is the true manager? I am confused. If you ever need a refund you will not get your money back at this store. We are the customers and if you own a business always accommodate your customers and they do not. Very poor customer service. So I ended up here because its next to the hotel I was staying in. I must say it has a VARIETY of ethic foods, Yet the place is often crowded and busy, virtually no room to move UNLESS of course your string bean thin as me then its easy! They pretty much had a lot of things that you would also find in the american supermarkets. Asian pears, aloe stalks,great lemons, israel tomatoes, my fav sushi citrus dressing, my fav brand of ramen noodles, ginger beer, and much more! I did discover some natural unsalted almonds, and I believe NO OTHER stores natural almonds beat these, they are SO good I brought about 10 cases just to take home with me! Very crowded. Difficult to maneuver a large cart alone. Best price for very fresh feta cheese (3.50/lb) (pick up at meat counter). They actually have a team of butchers ready to cut all your meat special for you at no extra charge. The meat counter has better cuts than pre packaged. They have a huge seafood section with decent prices. Also, the produce is cheaper than anywhere else I know. Lots of Hispanic brands and pre made "Hecho a mano" tortillas (the thick ones hand made). If you have never tried Hispanic sour cream, try it. It is much better than American. A whole aisle of dried bean packages, including jumbo sizes. Twenty pound bags of all kinds of rice. read more

It can be a quite busy on the weekends and if you are a casual shopper it can be fustrating. Overall, they have very good price on fresh vegtables / fruit and meat The butcher and fresh fish counter is an added bonus. It definetly save a trip to Langley Park. read more

I Have shopped there about 3 years and will never shop there again. Go to Grand Mart 2 miles away . Service has declined, it smells, inventory is packed in isles, management does not help with customer control. Bathroom I mean 1(one) dirty and backed up, no tissue. I purchased a melon, cut it same day , it was rotten I called said could not help me I only wanted to exchange for good melon. This place is very very unprofessional....they don't like to honor their sale prices. They claim they don't speak or understand english....so be sure to take a sales paper with you, because they don't have any in the store. I even had my sales paper with me and they tried to tell me I had the wrong store and the sale had ended with the date on there clear as day.
