Such a gem of a find! I discovered this place from one of the bosses of an outdoor nursery by my house. There is so much room in their nursery for so many plants to grow, which matters for the health of their plants instead of being crammed tightly like big box retail stores. The prices are great and generally cheaper than big box stores and other popular nurseries. I was able to buy 2x 3 ft tall Alocasia Regal shield ($35 each) , a Tricolor Stromanthe($12.50) in 6x pot , an Aglaonema Lady Valentine ($10) in a 4" pot, and a Marantha Lemón Lime Prayer Plant for ($15) in a 6" pot, all for cheaper than other places AND all healthy with no blemishes or pests. Nothing bugs me more than a lot plants that deteriorating condition, which I see a lot in big box stores, and thankfully you don't see really too much of that at Foothill Nursery. Finally Regina, Raschia, and Yolanda all have been helpful and friendly, and are quite knowledgeable, too. Thanks again and I'll be back to get more wonderful plants! read more

I've heard of this nursery before and decided to check it out. It's actually a wholesale nursery but the lovely ladies allowed me to walk around and buy a few things. There were so many indoor plants to choose from. Since this is a wholesale nursery, the pricing is extremely reasonable. I'm from the Bay Area, and every time I'm in Sylmar, I make it a point to stop by this nursery, it's that good. They have an incredible selection of healthy, well-cared-for plants at super reasonable prices. I'm especially impressed with the variety of rare tropicals like Alocasia and Anthurium! Some of these plants that are hard to find or usually overpriced elsewhere. The staff here are genuinely kind and passionate, and Yolanda in particular was amazing. She went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I was looking for, offering great tips on care and placement. She even walked me around to make sure I didn't miss anything and let me take my time without feeling rushed. If you love plants, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Large nursery, but disorganized and the office staff are unpleasant. One exception is Regina, who was very friendly and helpful. Not a place to shop for sun worshiping plant material, but if you're in the market for shade and indoor plants, they have a big selection, especially floor plants. Their signage is faded and worn so you need to pay attention to their entrance or you'll drive right past it. Same with parking. There are no marked spaces and everyone just sort of wings it. Not hard to find this garden nursery. Parking was easy. There was just 2 other customers there when we arrived. They were mostly Spanish speaking so I am thinking all these negative reviews are leaning towards the lack of communication. But my hubbs and daughter speak fluent Spanish so they were able to conversate very well. I understand but can't speak fast enough. Lol The selection was very very limited. One green house was open. Potting area was also open. Ended up purchasing a ficus elastica and a bird of paradise. Prices were reasonably affordable! Was hoping to purchase string of pearls but a staff member recommended we come back at a later time since they haven't completely rooted yet. We really appreciate the recommendation. Her honesty is exactly why we enjoyed our visit. The woman in the office wasn't too pleasant but the staff working the greenhouses is why I'm giving 5 stars! The owners an old gentleman and two daughters that work in the office are the most RUDEST people I've ever come in contact with when it comes to a business...... I was in there looking around for certain things for me and my son's house but I want a certain look so I was looking around the old man calls the worker that was helping me says very loudly" Do NOT WAST TIME ON HER" as I was asking him a question if a certain plant gets tall or does it stop growing he was very helpful and he immediately walked away from me.... Finally made a stop in, after hearing about this place for years. They had a HUGE selection of house plants in the greenhouse, and a smaller selection of pots that are a bit disorganized but fun to sort through. Prices aren't marked on a lot of the plants, but you can ask (we had an AMAZING woman helping us - I think her name was Yolanda) and it seems like there may also be some room to bargain if you were getting several things. Overall, the prices here were much better than other nurseries or place like home depot. The selection is almost entirely indoor plants, so if you're looking for something to plant outside this is not the place. I spent under $100 and left with 3 beautiful house plants (one of them HUGE) and about 5 pots that would have cost twice as much elsewhere. As a dog owner myself, it's so weird to me that so many dog owners leaving reviews have an entitlement to take their dogs everywhere with them. It would be a major risk to take your animal into a nursery with so many houseplants that could be poisonous to them. The woman who rings you up is a bit curt but having spent some time living in NYC it didn't bother me, especially since the staff member helping us was so friendly. It's year 2022 and we're still living in the global pandemic era. That's all to say, a lot of businesses have been struggling from covid in the past two years. I've been coming here to buy sale plants and have been enjoying the helpful Spanish-speaking staff. However, this business is run by true a$$holes. Like I did notice the two white women sitting inside the little office handling payment have never once greeted a customer or smiled or said thank you for supporting their business. I just imagined that they must live miserable lives and hate the world. Fast forward to now. I walk in the empty nursery with my dog leashed and one Italian old man runs out of his little office to shout NO DOGS HERE!! I'm a conscientious citizen of this society so I asked him the following: Senior aged Italian Male Owner named Vince: "NO dogs allowed in here!" Me: "Oh, I didn't know because there was no signage. Since it's currently sweltering hot at 94 degrees, do you know of any place I could put my dog while I shop here?" Senior aged Italian Male Owner named Vince: "That's not my problem!" Me: "Wow....that's so mean for you to say. i'm not asking you for a lot- I'm trying to abide by your policy and have my dog in a safe space as I don't want him to die of heat stroke? " I told the owner to his face how insensitive and mean his comment was to me. i even asked if he wants to apologize for his harsh hurtful words and he replies with "What?!" Classic dumb non reply. I obviously walk away and drive away vowing to do everything in my power as a customer and decent human with basic manners towards other humans to let you know who is reading this that there are plenty of other nurseries around this area where the owners don't verbally abuse their customers and their hard working Spanish speaking staff. Overall prices are good. Depending on the size/plant they can be $1 to $15 cheaper than HD, Lowe's or lower priced plant shops around Los Angeles. There was an older Hispanic lady helping me who was extremely kind and sweet. She was definitely well liked by customers as they would all greet her with joy. Unfortunately she's not the most knowledgeable about the prices, which is a huge negative about this place, no prices on 99% of there stuff. There was a clearance section that had prices, but that was about it. Everything, except for the 2 clearance plants I got, rung up higher. 2 plants I was told was $13.50 turned out to be $18, plus $1 to $2 more on the others. The lady writing up the receipt could care less about customer service or honoring the prices told to the customer. It's a shame this business has been here as long as it has and they can't take the time to make signs for prices or figure a system that will work for their customers. read more

Anyone else feeling the plant fever? I've dressed my window with plants and its never looked prettier! Ok, some of the warning are true. However, since I read the 1 star reviews I came prepared. I didn't expect much and I was SO PLEASANTLY surprised. The lady who helped me was INCREDIBLY nice, the woman and probably owner was pleasant, just busy. Yes, the lady in the office didn't have a mask on but she just had the employee working there go in and hand her the money. I didn't feel so comfortable with that. Especially with the Governors new orders, she invited me to step into the office but I just took for granted that she had a mask on and then I saw she didn't but it's her office so... Now, if you are say having plant fever like myself and want more options than Lowe's, this is the place to go! FANTASTIC selection and great prices - everything from an under $2 snake plant pup to a $5 spider plant and incredible amounts of pothos. I bought a pothos at Lowe's for about $15 (with 10% off cause of the yellowing) and here I could I have got a healthier, smaller pot for about $5-$10 This is a nursery for a beginner like me, no crazy varietals of plants and stellar orchid selection. a little bit more money than my former favorite place for orchids - Trader Joe's - but I can see why, the orchids where spectacular! This business isn't worth visiting, first no inventory. It looks like they're going out of business. I have visited three times and every time the place is practically empty, they hardly have no plants. I ask employees why there are hardly any plants and they always tell me the same thing, yesterday they had a full house but this is a lie, Secondly, the the few plants they do have, are wilted and under watered. Go to Home Depot better, you get better and cheaper house plants And lastly, the owner is a rude and nasty old man. I was looking at their sorry and overpriced phalenopsis orchids and not knowing they couldn't be touched, I touched one bloom and the owner came and screamed at me three times. I understand that if his policy is not touching the orchids, I can respect that. (I went to Home Depot and I bought some beautiful and healthy orchids at a cheaper price) But he didn't have to scream at me. I believe It's not what you tell people, but how you say it. I have never been treated like this ever, it was humiliating and uncalled for. I told him, that was no way to treat a customer and he just laughed. HORRIBLE! RUDE!!! I came to this nursery with my little dog. Before walking in, I checked the door for signs to make sure dogs were allowed. I saw plenty of signs aggressively saying they only took cash, but nothing about dogs not being permitted. We walked around, pick out a few plants ( which by the way are not labeled with prices) until we heard screaming from across the nursery. It took me a moment to realize I was the one being yelled at. The older gentleman who owns the place was yelling about my dog. Now I completely understand a business not wanting a dog in their store, however yelling at me from across the room was incredibly upsetting. I apologized and said I would leave. I asked if I could quickly pay for the plants picked out and the man didn't even respond and walked away. I sat at the front waiting for a while to pay. The woman charged me $53 for 4 small plants which seemed purposely high. I also noticed the owners were very rude to their staff. While I love supporting small businesses, I would much rather go to Home Depot. I left this place feeling violated and upset. read more

This nursery is one of the bigger nurseries I've been to but they have very basic houseplants. I read several reviews before going and the bad ones would complain about customer service. I was fine with just browsing and didn't think I would encounter them very often. However, while I was trying to select my plant, I was dusting off the dirt on the leaves and the man told me to stop touching the plants. He said it very rudely but I stopped touching the leaves and continued to the next plants I wanted to pick out. While I'm trying to pick out plants, of course I'm going to pick it up to examine for infestations and to visually see how the plants look like on their own. Apparently, I'm not supposed to do that either. He shakes his head at me and tells me to stop touching the plants again. He became very rude at this time. Much more than the first time but I stopped touching the plants all together. I drove quite far to come here so I was determined to get this one last plant before leaving but now I cannot touch anything. None of the plants have prices on them so when he was staring me down, I asked him how much it cost. He completely ignores my question and continue to scold me for touching the plants (which I did stop touching anything since the last time he told me). He is the most rude person I've encountered. He made me very uncomfortable and he belittled me countless times. I would rather go to any other nursery because it was not worth it. The prices are slightly cheaper than others but thr selection can be found almost anywhere and you wouldn't have to deal with rude service elsewhere. read more

First of all the communication here is pretty bad. I drove 49 minutes from the south at after this place being highly recommended from a couple of you tubers. When I show up after checking in with the staff o was told many different things bottom line come Wednesday when shipment arrives. I go super early Wednesday to show up for a waste of my time. Wow, this is a hidden gem, a true greenhouse oasis! I went around 9:30AM on a Tuesday and it was empty aside from a few very friendly and helpful employees who were so welcoming and kind to me. So many gorgeous plants to choose from. I walked away with 4 large plants and a huge bag of soil for $76 - CASH ONLY! They put it in my car for me which was so nice. I buy lots of plants as a new (quarantine) gardener and this selection is the best I'be seen at the lowest price! I would have paid $150 or more for this easily somewhere else. Incredible selection of plants and great prices! I was coming from Cerritos, so it was a bit of a drive (although, if you're from this area you might disagree; but I'm originally from New England and am not used to driving such long distances or with so much traffic). If only I could give negative stars.....I hate to write this update as I have previously raved about this nursery, but the truth is the owners are terrible. There are tons of reviews that talk about how rude they are, but I've never cared because the prices have been great and the staff that helps you take your plants out to the car are always very sweet. Well that all changed today. I went to Foothill in an effort to continue to support small, family run businesses during the whole lockdown situation. The selection wasn't great, there's never been a really big variety, but I still found for plants that I was excited about. As I went up to the front to pay for my plants, the owner (old man)walked past me and just scowled a few times. His daughter was actually on the floor. She's the one that always sits in the office and takes the money. This time, she was invoicing a big order, but I was the only one there waiting to pay . She made eye contact with me about four times and continued to do what she was doing and never made any effort to acknowledge me. A normal business person might say "I'm sorry can you hold on just a moment"....But clearly this family is not normal. After a few minutes of the lady who bagged up my plants continuing to apologize for her bosses and their unprofessional behavior, I just asked her to give me a total. Great price at 15 bus for four plants, so I just gave her a 20 and told her to keep the change for herself and got the hell out of there. Not only was the rude owner completely indifferent about my purchase, she was also not wearing a mask as she barked out orders to the poor workers! Rude and contagious!?! No thank you. I've been to this nursery twice and each time walked out with some awesome deals! They have a wonderful green house filled with so many goodies at such great prices! The plants I've purchased here are always so healthy and have great roots! ( no cuttings shoves in a pot with barely there roots like some places). The pots are not marked with prices but the staff has always been so friendly and would answer any question I had about pricing or plant care. It is always well organized. There is also a selection of pots at a reasonable price. Just know that if you go here to pick up some awesome plant finds, BRING CASH. Because they are CASH ONLY. Can't wait to go back! read more
