This was a long drive for me from the Westside......AND WORTH IT! This is a wholesale nursery THAT SELLS TO THE PUBLIC. It's huge, offering a wide variety to fulfill your garden's needs. It's well maintained in plants and people. I had a specific succulent I wanted to buy and called nine different nurseries before reaching Brandon on the phone at Standard. Instead of just telling me "no" like the others, he chatted with me...explaining how some succulents are created as a hybrid for one season and often are hard to find again. When I drove here, I was created by Anthony Gardner, a cheery, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful guy who showed real interest in my needs. And I wound up buying three plants for different areas in my garden. Two plants that I needed in multiple flats were sent to one of their many locations closer to me, so I didn't need make that long drive again. We've had follow up phone calls and each time I've found him friendly, responsible and, truly, going the extra mile for me. read more

Poor communication with staff never returning phone calls about issues with tree purchases

Been to this nursery 4x before deciding to purchase an Olive Tree. Their worker Keith told us multiple times that the olive I was looking at would cost $800 alone or $1200 with delivery and install. Went back a week later and the manager working there states the tree is now "1500" at its lowest without delivery or install. Not to mention, the manager had a horrible attitude treating us as if we didn't know what we are talking about when we have years of landscape experience when designing our developments. I have been to 20 nurseries all across Los Angeles and these "Wilsoni" Olive at 7 ft cost between $450-650 without delivery. The manager then turns around and says "you must have not been to Moon Valley" trying to say their prices are so much cheaper when in reality their place is a rip off and Moon Valley is the rip off or rip offs. ALSO, when purchasing from them make sure to check the trees. The Standard Groups olive trees had major scale infection (black bumps fully covering branches), peacock spots on the leaves which you can tell when the yellow leaves have brown circles at the tips or in them, and a good majority of the leaves had bite marks from an infestation. You would think if they're charging a premium they'd at least have healthy trees. I will be going elsewhere to give my business to more knowledgeable, kind, and correctly priced for their quality businesses. read more

I've been here quite a few times. The place is fairly big in size. Plants were beautifully arranged so you'll easily find whatever plants and trees that you are looking for. The staff are quite helpful. They'll immediately offer assistance but would leave you alone if that's your preference. They're never pushy and I like that so I can freely look around without distractions. However, this place mostly offers outdoor plants for landscaping. I've seen some succulents but I wish they carry indoor plants as well. read more

Well kind of good and bad. Brandon decided to quit without telling his customers so we have been trying to contact him and weeks later found out that he has left the company. Seriously? No one ever thought of calling the customers on their pending projects? We had to do our own investigating? Anyway we finally got Aaron who unfortunately got sick so he couldn't make his appointment but at least he gave us Chris who seems to be great. We shall see. Will update once the project is finished. Nope don't bother We spent a lot of money to upgrade sprinkler front & back yards which worked fine except where they forgot to hook it up at Then many thousands of dollars went into installing Dymondia on our two lawns in back It died due to terrible heatwave last summer So they came back to replace what died replanted then winter storms flooded everything So Dymondia flats which they overcharged me for at 250$ a flat -a rip off- even online they ate less than 50 per flat ?! Died So they came back & wanted to charge 20k more to replace dead Dymondia for which their rep had no explanation for none of it succeeding in back yard. Nope never again with these people I'm serious check references which we should have done but their yelp review looked promising A big mistake I spent over 22k & have great sprinkler system But dead grass read more

This licensed landscape company was hired to manage and build out my landscape project. My experience is that they did some of it well, but most of it has been a very expensive nightmare. Here is a quick recounting of my experience: -used their retail as a loophole to go outside the contractor laws of California (i.e. they asked me for more than $1000 deposit or 10% of the project. It's supposed to be which is less) -didn't send me a contract with milestones and payments along with a clear scope of work -I first chose them based on their social media posting -- which I later learned were just inspirational images from OTHER projects, not their own -At the beginning, they were extremely attentive and came on site a lot to discuss all the elements I wanted and then follow up with a short list invoice as to sum up the conversations. The problem with this, is then so much that was promised isn't written and since things went south, they were able to claim deniability. Here are some pictures of their work. -They built a deck extension but couldn't bother to finish it. -It was supposed to cover the mechanicals, but there's a large gap and I have mechanical just hanging loosely. -They cut uneven blocks of wood and just nailed them around the pool. -Left stickers on the lattice along with debris and nails shrewn about the yard. -The site prep for the pool was supposed to be properly retained with cement and backfilled. It was partially cemented (and some wood is exposed behind it), it wasn't backfilled, and they used thin pieces of wood that will totally rot over time on one side, but it doesn't stop earth erosion. -The site is COMPLETELY unlevel so yes, the pool is unlevel -Worst? After consulting with the project manager over and over again about whether the site would work to drain and to do what we it needed to, she confidently advised that the gravel would be fine. The site completely flooded. -I still have yard exposed -AND I never got any actual plants. They did throw mine that were supposed to be repurposed away. I paid in full -- this should never have happened. And when I complained, upper management was extremely condescending and have been harassing and bullying me, threatening legal action if I shared my experience. I don't want anyone to experience what I did. Please use caution when dealing with the Standard Design Group Nurseries. What a nightmare. I've posted a review 5 times, they've had it removed each time. Instead of spending the money to have the truth concealed, they really should just refund me. That'd be the right thing to do. read more

I'm really glad we shopped around and landed on Standard Design Group Nurseries! My fiancée and I had been in the market for hedges for a few months getting quotes. 6-8 foot Indian Laurel Ficus hedges ranged from $260 - $330 per tree with installation and warranty. With that price tag we held off for a few months. We almost decided on getting the 6-8 foot hedges from Home Depot for $79 per tree and doing it ourselves. Then we stumbled on an Instagram ad for SDNG (boy those reels really do reel you in), and we spoke to Payton from the ad. They were considerably more affordable than our quotes. Long story short, we had hedges delivered, concrete cut and demolished, and trees installed with irrigation system exactly 8 DAYS later! Amazing! The initial install date was 6 weeks out. I had mentioned to Payton that we had gathering in 2 weeks and he took note of that. When something opened up the very next weekend, Payton called me immediately. We crunched hours of working out details over the following two days, Payton was incredibly patient and went above and beyond to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we were comfortable with all the details. With our budget we initially were only going to get one side of our property done, but instead we went for the 5-foot trees (which were more like 6-footers) and were able to do both sides all within budget. Payton really worked his magic on getting us the best deal and was very transparent about all the costs and the process. The installation quality was also very good. I was impressed with how precise they were able to cut the concrete and get us a straight line of hedges all the way down our property, as you can see in the pictures. 10 out of 10 would recommend. On 12/19/24, designer Chriss came into our home for a sales presentation for our backyard landscape design . He was VERY high pressure and unfortunately we gave him a check for $3,000 for a design plan and a deposit on future work. He immediately deposited the check while in our home, but didn't give us a copy of a sales contract. We cancelled the contract according to 3 day review. We never heard from Chriss or anyone at Standard Design Group regarding the cancellation. No one responds to emails or phone calls. No work has been done and no refund has been issued . We did ask Chriss , as he was the designer who was in our home and was supposed to do the work, to please have Standard Design issue a refund. No response from him, or anyone at the company! Standard Design took our money and will not communicate with us! They did not honor the cancellation of the contact, nor did they do ANY work! No communication from anyone at the company! read more

I have another 5 star for this Awesome, Honest Company! Keith Lenik has been my point person and he saw how over grown my lemon tree was. He wanted to prune it personally so it wasn't "over" pruned. I didn't have empty garbage bins and my personal gardener, who was coming the next day, didn't have an extra bin nor truck to take the branches. I was going to cancel Keith pruning due to this branch issue until he said he could handle all of it. He pruned the tree and used his own vehicle to haul away the branches, of which there were many. Well, wouldn't you know we had heavy rains that night and my gardener couldn't come to garden for 2 weeks. So it was super helpful Keith insisted on completing the job and I wasn't left with a mess! We had a great experience with Standard Design Group Nursery in North Hollywood almost entirely because of Keith. We went there looking for a tree because we had lost a couple of big ones in a wind storm a few months back. We described the area we were hoping to plant in and Keith was incredibly helpful. He showed us a few options and explained the pros and cons of the various choices. He explained how big each tree would get, the thickness in leaf density, and how fast we could expect each or them to grow. I've never met anyone with such a vast knowledge of trees and plants. We ultimately settled on a Chinese Elm. He even came out to our property to make sure the place we wanted to plant would be adequate for the tree. We set a time for delivery and instillation and the team showed up early and had it in the ground in just over a half hour. It was so easy. We were getting a deck built onto our house and needed a tree for it without holding up the build. Standard Design Group knocked it out of the park. Fernando narrowed down possible trees and then broke our preferences down by size and price as well. Then Brandon was able to find us a much-quicker install then they usually do and got the tree to our house the next day. The tree prices can be higher than some nurseries, but if you're looking for start to finish help and knowing you're giving your tree the best chance to thrive, they really can't be beat. I'm a plant person and had so much fun geeking out over the cinnamon stick tree and avocado saplings with Brandon. He walked the property with me for over an HOUR answering all questions (many of them unnecessary and asked out of curiosity), and made recommendations based upon my property.
