Pros: small school, very small classes- all the families left after Covid so therefore might be 3 kids in one class. Cons: $650 enrollment fee plus other outrageous fees. Our son has been at Foothill Oaks Academy since he was about 2 years old about 5-6 years now. The school were recommended to us by a family friend whose two college aged sons had attended as well. Right from the beginning, his preschool teacher was so kind and loving. This really started his school experience in the best possible way, and we can only hope that as he grows and moves on to higher and higher education, his love for learning that started in preschool will remain. It has always been a smaller school, and we appreciate the very individual attention each student receives in class. All of his classmates are very well-behaved and kind to each other, which is very important to us. Bullying or meanness has never been an issue, and the kids seem to thrive in such a nurturing environment. The teachers really know and love each of their students and support their learning, socially and academically. About the curriculum, we feel the amount of homework and progression of learning is appropriate for his age. More importantly, he LOVES going to school, he loves learning, he loves his classmates and his teachers, and his participation in the annual read-a-thon has turned him into a voracious reader. We would highly recommend Foothill Oaks Academy! Their environment has benefitted our son throughout his years there, and we truly believe he would not be as happy or successful a student at any other school. We thank them for everything they have done for our son and our family. What my husband and I love best about FOA is the individualized attention he receives in the smaller class sizes. We love all the different things that are going on through the school year. There are several field trips a year. Enrichment programs are offered through the year, such as Lego & Robotics, Coding, etc. They even offer Chinese and Spanish class every week. I have three kids attending FOA, they started school last year in 1st and 2nd, and my third just started preschool there. They are now in 2nd and 3rd. The principle Mrs Ha and all the teachers have been very wonderful. Mrs Ha is welcoming and pleasant to speak with. If you have any concerns she is easy to talk to, very receptive, and takes your concerns seriously. What I like most are the small class sizes. My kids receive a lot of attention, and they feel very important. All the kids at the school know each other and are pretty close. The staff are pleasant and friendly. The school also offers Spanish, Chinese and Engineering classes for the elementary kids. I highly recommend this school for anyone looking for a quality education, and a positive experience. read more

My kids attended Foothill Oaks Academy. I am so grateful for this school. I am grateful for the great caring teachers and strong leader in a principal who truly cares about the integrity of her school. Foothill Oaks helped my son, then a seventh grader, mature as a student and as an individual. Foothill Oaks partnered along-side with me to teach my son new habits and were patient enough to help my son unlearn unhealthy habits. With patience and a lot of hard work, my partnership with Foothill Oaks resulted in my son reaching grade level academics, learn new social skills and more importantly helped build my son's self-esteem. For the first time, my son believed in himself as a student and was able to see the possibility of college in his future. His Math and English teachers in particular were able to see my son's qualities and potential before my son could see them in himself and they helped guide my son but also held him accountable. The following year I registered my eight-year old daughter into Foothill Oaks Academy and we lived the same experience. The school was nurturing, welcoming and a healthy environment to learn and grow. Unfortunately, due to work, we had to move to another state. Otherwise, we would still be attending Foothill Oaks Academy. If I could, I would recommend Foothill Oaks Academy to everyone. From the first time I visited FOA, I knew it was a really special place. The first thing I noticed was the double gated entry. The school feels very secure and safe. What was also immediately apparent was how warm and friendly the staff is. Mrs. Ha, the principal, gave me a tour around the preschool. The classrooms are in one building with 3 classrooms and 2 bathrooms. Each classroom is very inviting, clean, and filled with everything a preschooler could want. I enrolled my son in the Fall 2022 into the 3 year old pre-school class. The price for full time preschool is very very reasonable, especially with their flexible hours of operation. At morning drop off we leave him with Ms. Nayeli, the preschool director and teacher of the pre-k class. She cares for the kids in the early hours before 9 am when their classes start. She is the warmest, kindest person. My son had a rough time the first week of school, and she would sit with him, offer support, set him up with friends to play with, and overall made the experience so much easier. Now he loves going to school. Ms. Sabrina was his teacher initially and she is so energetic, kind, and gentle. He loved being in her class and would often tell me about the games and songs they listened to. Ms Sandra is now his teacher and I appreciate how inviting she is while also maintaining structure in a classroom of 11 three years olds. I have no idea how she has the patience but she is an angel. I've since referred many families to FOA and they are all also very grateful to have their kids enrolled. I highly recommend this preschool! They also offer elementary school, and although I don't personally have kids in the older classrooms I know that they have small class size and very dedicated teachers. read more

My child attended FOA and we absolutely loved it. From the moment we came to visit, we felt like family. It was an added bonus with the many extra classes including art and music that she was able to take during the school week. We especially enjoyed the small class sizes which made learning enjoyable for all the students and teachers were able to work with students one on one or in small groups. This review is for the preschool. We absolutely love Foothill Oaks Academy and the preschool to be specific. My daughter transferred here from another preschool in Arcadia where we had struggled with multiple ongoing, unresolved issues. At FOA, it's been such a different and wonderful experience! My daughter has had multiple surgeries so we needed to ensure she had a safe place to go to school with teachers that would notify us with any issue. We also needed her to let go of some of her fears and she has definitely done this! At FOA, the Administration clearly has a love for children and learning which passes down to the teachers and students. Almost every single day, I see the Director of the PS and the Principal outside playing with children! It's so beautiful to see and it sets a strong energy of teamwork. We have encountered multiple preschool teachers there, that honestly are just wonderful. They love kids, they love their jobs, and it shows! Ms. Tina, Ms. Mirna, Ms. Alexis, Ms. Diane, are all very sweet, very knowledgeable teachers. She has blossomed as a girl in 6 months and I believe it is because they have created a safe space for her to learn and play. We cannot say thank you enough!! Also, it's affordable, clean, well-stocked with toys, books, materials, etc. and has a huge, gorgeous outside play area for the PS, and a separate, lovely large field and structure for the elementary and upper grades. The teachers take great pride in their rooms, with beautiful displays of student work, crafts, and seasonal projects. They have an awesome Harvest Festival, a Christmas program etc. and to top it off, they teach the children to give back to the community by doing things like visiting seniors in nearby homes. I am so grateful we found this school! It's honestly the hidden gem of the Foothills and the SGV. read more

Back in 1994, I went to this school in 4th grade, graduated in 8th grade in '98, then headed on over to Maranatha HS back when it was in Sierra Madre. It was Anita Oaks back then, and to this day, I still drive by it regularly while going to and from work. It brings back fond memories of childhood when things were so much easier! From Mrs. Swanson to Mrs. DiBlasi or Mr. Pei to Mrs. Paniagua, it was just a great part of life for me! The teachers genuinely cared about your understanding of academic material and regularly went the extra mile in ensuring you did. Overall, I'm not sure why I'm writing this review. I don't have any kids that attend the school, currently, but I just want to convey that it's great to see that they're still around, and suggest considering them if you live in the area! read more

My then 2 year old son went here for almost a year but the traumatic experience still lingers. Never have I ever felt like such a bad parent than I did when I would have parent/teacher/admin conferences which I would leave and cry in my car. I was always to blame for any issues my son had and I always had to "fix" it somehow. The teachers are nice but inexperienced especially with discipline, behavioral issues, communication and consistency which is key for his age. I was shocked when I got "spoken to" several times about the fact that my son had pooped in his pants during the time that he was potty training. I mean if you don't remind him every 30 minutes or so to use the restroom he will forget like any 2 year old! I spoke with several behavior therapists, got 7-10 hours of behavioral, speech etc therapy, as the school demanded I request, from the regional center and they still could not handle my son. I was told he was just hitting kids "all day long" by the school but the therapists said the school was too lax and inconsistent. There was just too many things to list. On his last day I heard other parents complaining about some of the same issues I was having. This school had my child making complex art which you will notice walking in but hours of sitting and painting or cutting is not what an energetic 2 year old wants to do every day which in turn lead to him acting out when forced to sit for long periods of time. Bottom line I would highly recommend avoiding this place unless your child has never had any behavior outbursts, acts like a robot, and has zero problems sharing or having kids bully them. Also plan on random days off throughout the year that they do not provide care about 50 per year that they still charge you for. After changing him to his new preschool I have never seen such a difference in him and his care and it prompted me to write this review. His new place communicates daily, has very experienced staff, and laughed when I asked if they needed me to add the behavior therapist and other therapists to his daily schedule. He is a normal, now, 3 year old and together the new school and I team up and coach him using the same techniques towards learning to share, using words instead of hitting and overall good communicating to others. read more

Anita Oaks School is a magical place. My children have been there since preschool, going on 10 years now. It is small and nurturing, virtually every child is special there. Which explains why the kids blossom into self-confident, bright students that get accepted to some of the best private high schools in the valley. The school is strong on academics, but still has a lot of extras in their program, such as music, PE, sports, art, language, and technology. The parents are very involved with the school, so Anita Oaks has a community vibe that is quite unique. read more

She is planning to be a doctor specializing in neonatology and plans to attend USC for her undergraduate studies. Putting my daughter at Foothill Oaks is one of the smartest things that I have done. It has made her transition to High School so easy thanks to the dedicated teachers and focus on academics. This is her first year of high school and her GPA is 4.3. She is also active in extracurricular activities and tonight brought home a trophy for rookie of the year in soccer and another one for winning their division.. She has not had to struggle like many of her classmates in high school because she was so well prepared by Foothill Oaks. We have kept in contact with her classmates from Foothill Oaks who all went on to various high schools and they all are having the same easy transition into high school. read more
