Went to check out Rive Bistro about a week ago with a few friends . One of my friends had to write…read morea pipe dreams article on it for restaurant week. Honestly I did not expect much because it was Binghamton. The food was good, the taste was comparable to some restaurants I've tried in the city. We ordered 2 Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes and Sauteed Mustard Greens ($14 each), a Grilled Chicken Panni with Portabello Mushroom, Smoked Cheddar Cheese and Sauteed Mustard Greens, and a Salad(forgot which one) with Grilled Ahi Tuna. All the dishes were presented nicely in terms of culinary art. I had the Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes and Sauteed Mustard Greens with Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese ($4) on the side. Personally I believe that I've had better. The salmon was not over cooked, the skin was maybe a little bit too crispy. I think it is pretty good for the price. The mashed potatoes and the sauteed greens went well with the dish. The sauce on the plate also went well with the salmon. As for the Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese, I was disappointed. The pasta could have been a little softer. I would give the Truffle Scented Mac & Cheese 3 stars and Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon Butter Milk Smashed Potatoes 4 stars. I am comparing this to my Camaje and SMAC experience. For dessert we had 3 orders of gelato and an order of warm molted lava cake with vanilla gelato. I had the warm molted lava cake with vanilla gelato. It was pretty good, but I have had better dessert than this. I mean this is better than probably dessert from TGIF or Apple Bees. The cake was really moist. All of us were satisfied with our meal. This place is definitely has a great atmosphere. It is a little fancy and romantic. It's great for dates or special celebrations. I went for lunch and the bright light was shinning in through the window (does not have a nice window view) It seems like the restaurant is a candle light dinner or dim light type later in the evening. The restaurant is inside a hotel. So I would not dress too bum-like, lol... One thing that disturbed me was an unfamiliar object had dropped into my friend's glass of water as the waitress was filling it. But she kindly replaced it for us. They had really good service. I would definitely go again to try some of their other stuff.

I need my sleep so I chose Tru by Hilton Binghamton Vestal. I'm basing my hotel selection on: Free Breakfast Colorful lobby Smoking is permitted out front After checking in, I pretty much hung my clothes and went out to dinner. After dinner, I went back to the hotel and lit up a nice cigar. The next morning, I woke up refreshed. The bed was comfortable, the shower products were very good but this hotel doesn't believe in giving out bar soap? Yeah.. I travel with a bar from L'Occitane so these silly rules don't apply to me. I woke up, poured myself a cup of coffee from the free breakfast bar. I see families coming down and enjoying the breakfast selections. I'm sure they're here for a graduation or visiting a student. Nice hotel, I would stay here again. *If I see a beer keg, I'm pouring myself some of your beer while I smoke.

Leading up to graduation this year, sadly, my mother passed away - we had a room reserved for her which we, obviously, sought to cancel. Apparently, Hilton, and specifically this trash-bag of a property, feel that my mother should have died sooner to avoid having to pay a cancelation fee. My apologies that my mother DIED at an inconvenient time for you - so much so that I am now out over 600 dollars to cancel a room which you were able to turn around an IMMEDIATELY sell again. Hilton hotels will never see another dollar of my money - and this hotel in particular, and it's clown of a general manager, can both go pound sand. I TRULY hope that you end up being taken advantage of due to the death of someone close to you so that you will understand what an absolute piece of garbage you were in this situation. Screw this property, and Hilton in general - this is not the last that this will be heard of.

Not a bad place to stay for a night or two.

We went in to check in and were told the sign had been ripped up by a storm recently, fair enough. Then casually were told that the maintenance guy had quit because there were "too many things to fix" ok, slight red flag. Staff was friendly and checked us in and we went to the room. We were only staying one night, we were out in a first floor room right by the parking lot and the street. It was surprisingly quieter overnight than we thought it would be. As we unpacked, we noticed the electrical outlets by the bed were loose so anything we plugged into them would not charge. There was a usb port on the desk area that also did not work. We stopped at the "gym" and the one and only treadmill was out of order. No wonder the maintenance man quit. While these things weren't make or break our stay, they were kinda frustrating. The next morning we went to their breakfast area and were not impressed with the spread. Very little in the way of selection and once again, the equipment (waffle maker) was out of order. We checked out and again the staff was so friendly. Even for the price, I doubt we would stay here again.

The sand traps (dirt traps?) are showing the black netting underneath and turn into ponds for days after it rains. There are dead trees galore and those that aren't dead haven't been pruned in decades. The wooden fences are all falling down and the bridges are in such a state of disrepair as to be scary. One of the ponds is covered in scum and another gets so low that it reeks. Pond and stream banks looking a bit unkempt? Herbicide them all. Geese on the greens? Hire a buddy to shoot them. The cut grass is left in yellowing clumps. Any asphalt, concrete, downed trees, tees or busted balls just get dumped on the perimeter. Absolutely terribly maintained over the years. If anyone doubts this, I'll post pics.

We have stayed here a few times as a stop over and never had a bad experience. It's extremely easy access from the parkway. The staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. It was a quick check-in and we were off to our room. It's a nice size clean room with plenty of lighting and outlets for charging phones, computers, etc... There was also a very nice working area. It's always a plus to have a coffee maker and microwave oven too. It has a large clean bathroom and great shower. A very comfortable bed and pillows made for a nice sleep. Morning breakfast was very complete with oatmeal, waffles, eggs, yogurt, etc... There was one woman working keeping everything filled as it was extremely busy on Sunday morning. My only gripe (and this was not with the wonderful hotel staff) is that people would park their cars in the EV & Tesla charging area overnight. REALLY, if you own an electric car charge it and move it!!! The spot does not have your name on it. Please be cognizant of the other Electric / Hybrid owners. It's not a Tesla spot... it's a Tesla / EV charging area for everyone!!! Clearly I was not the only person who complained about this! The staff understood my frustration but they don't manage that area. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to my next stop in Binghamton. KUDOs to the team at Fairfield Inn.

The layout of a small "village" like grouping was pleasant generally well planted and the staff very friendly. The issues: a little run down for a Marriott and some of the room cleaning needed more attention (fridge doors, bathroom floor) The lobby looked pretty good but the furniture is well worn. Our first floor room had a sliding door but the screen was sketchy and the door very hard to slide. Some of the outer siding was in poor shape. The fridge doors were hinged incorrectly to where it was placed in the kitchen making opening awkward. Breakfast was the usual kinda bleh thing but not worse than other such places. Basically at $160 plus you are paying for a kitchen but not upkeep. I would call this a clean 2 hotel that could be a 3 with some attention. I would use it but not seek it out necessarily if I had choices in the price range but it was quiet.

The outside of the buildings looks a bit weathered, but we were extremely happy with our stay.
