I have been to the Footworks Relaxology site in West Grey a few times (it's located a little further down on Broadway), and when I booked my appointment here at this location, I actually thought I was booking at the West Grey site. I loved the West Grey site so! Both times I've been there, it was a wonderfully relaxing spa experience and it feels really self-indulgent to go there. This time, I had an out-of-town visitor and she had a painful knotted-up back, so I thought she could benefit from some pampering and a good chair and foot massage, so I booked us both appointments here. In error. This site is a far, far cry from the West Grey site. (Funny, when I booked here, I called back immediately to confirm that this was the correct site, that I've been here before. The receptionist said yes, I was at this location in the past. Turns out, someone else with my exact same name had been here. Not me. Honest mistake). This site is SO SO loud and SO bright. Unlike the insulated, dim interior of the West Grey location, this salon is small and placed its 5 foot massage chair stations right in the front of the shop, right by a huge glass window facing busy Broadway. There is so much light, and so much street noise. You can hear every bus and car whizzing by, every conversation of people on their phones or with friends, walking and talking on the sidewalk outside. Not to mention the acoustics in the salon, where you hear the people all beside you chatting with their masseuses (one lady was on her phone before being told to quit it). (In contrast, the West Grey site has the foot chair stations BEYOND the reception desk, further away from the front entrance and the street, and either there's no windows or they are blocked by heavy curtains, so the interior is dim. It is like night and day. At this Kits site, they bring the chairs for the chair massages right out to your foot chair station, jutting out in the middle of the small, shared front room where all the foot chair stations are. So there is NO privacy at all. Granted, you are fully clothed while this goes on, but still, I found it unnerving and, again, NOT relaxing. (At West Grey, the chair massage stations are at the far rear of the salon. Still visible by a few foot stations if they want to look, but more remote and distanced from most others. It feels more private, for sure). My masseuse here at Kits was nice but I can't say my foot or chair massage was special in any way. Plus I had to ask for some tea (other customers were just given it without asking). Plus my masseuse never introduced herself, so I don't know her name (which made it all feel more impersonal). The reason why I'm giving three stars here is because my friend had the best massage of her entire life here (and she has had many!). Her masseuse was Anna (Anna introduced herself to my friend right away. They were in the foot chair station right beside me) and my friend left the salon like a new person. For real. (I should note that my friend's massage lasted 15 minutes longer than mine, for some unknown reason). If I was just rating my friend's experience, it would be five stars. Mine was 3 stars. Which proves how inconsistent one's experience can be here, depending on your masseuse. Based on the relaxation factor alone, and ambience, and "spa experience", I'd definitely recommend the West Grey site. (Note to Kits site; it really REALLY would serve you well to better insulate your interior and block the front window with heavy, insulating curtains and provide more privacy between foot stations. Was given a gift card for this location for my birthday. My foot masseuse lady was in no way experienced or even trying to do a good job, I have had much better foot massage at my nail salon. No effort or pressure was applied, I did tell the girls at reception they said they were sorry. No name tag so I can't mention the name but much too elderly to be doing this job. I've now got my husband on board who also sees Victor on the regular. Viktor is one of the kindest humans out there, and takes such care with all of his clients. I enjoyed the 50 minute foot massage which starts with a neck and upper back massage. It was heavenly. This is followed by a complete foot and lower leg reflexology massage. I have experienced a lot of foot pain in my large toe joint and explained this to the therapist. She insisted this would not be a problem and she was so correct. I really wanted to like this place and give it a decent rating. The place was clean, nice modern decor, comfy couches for the foot massages. The treatment rooms are nicely appointed. I was greeted warmly. I got the deluxe combo - 75 min full body massage, and a 75 min foot massage. I started off with the full body massage. It was off to a good start, but I quickly realized my treatment room was at the very back of the hallway, right across from the linen/staff break/lunch room. I was not able to relax and enjoy my treatment because it was just so noisy from the sound of the staff talking in the hallway, the dryer tumbling, the microwave beeping. There was a window above the door to my treatment room which was opened. I asked Debra if she could close it, but she couldn't reach it, so she offered me earplugs instead. I have to wear earplugs in a place that has the work "Relax" in its name?! I moved into the front part of the place for the foot massage. I was looking forward to relaxing in the loungy chair and dozing off. But that didn't happen there either, because of the insanely loud traffic noise coming from Broadway traffic. I swear the large window at the front is single pane, because i heard every car and bus that roared past the store front. At one point I even heard a child's laugh as she walked by. The massages themselves were OK. My therapist had good hands, but I found her movements between the massaging to be quite rough and jerky. There were times when i found she was grabbing my arm or neck, not a smooth touch that I expect during a massage. While there's nothing Footworks can do about the therapist's rough movements, they definitely need to do something about the noise level. It is just impossible to relax during my treatments, and I found it a very disappointing experience. Sadly I will not be returning. read more

I received a package of five 50-minute foot reflexology sessions as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend. I think he was getting sick of me asking him to rub my feet, so this was a win-win ;) Upon walking in, I was very pleased with the appearance, scent, and atmosphere of the Footworks salon. I was warmly welcomed and invited to come inside and select a chair in which to have my treatment. The armchairs are big, soft, and cozy to sit in and I chose the one right by the window so I could people watch, should I choose. My therapist was named Hans. He soaked my feet in a soothing warm bath of water and river stones then proceeded to relax me with a shoulder and neck massage. He was firm but graceful with his hands. No discredit to my boyfriend, but Hans gave me the BEST foot rub I've ever had in my life. He had strong hands and rubbed all the right spots in just the right way. 50 minutes is the perfect amount of time and the Tuesday complimentary sugar scrub and essential oils were wonderful. I might have to book every Tuesday from now on... I will recommend this place to anyone with feet and will ask for Hans for all my treatments. Five stars, without a doubt. read more

Like any gal, I'm totally a 'spa' person; on the other hand, my boyfriend is not. He always says he doesn't need any massage. Somehow I convinced him to go for a Monday special foot massage. As we sat down on the nice comfy sofa, he started talking to the therapist.... actually quite a bit. He was nervous and even the therapist can tell!! We'd to remind him to sit back, relax and have eyes closed. After about 15 mins, he finally started to relax. After the treatment, he said he loved it, and said he would do it again!! Years of stuffing my feet into tight hockey skates and generally not really paying too much attention to my soles, have rendered them into a pair of pain at the end of my legs. Thankfully, a stop here gave them some much needed relief. For $39, I got 55 minutes of reflexology. During the month of June, you also get started off with a shoulder massage....great for me, since I sit at a desk all day. Give this place a shot; it has beautiful decor, comfy chairs and great staff. They might need to install a heavier, more insulated door though...noise seeps in and sometimes the outside crowd gets distracting. read more

My favourite place for a foot massage in Vancouver. It's a nice and quiet environment with comfortable chairs and the staff are really friendly. When you arrive, you are offered green tea or water. There are specials when you book a foot massage on Mondays or Tuesdays so if you could make it those days, they're extra great! I've had a body massage here (combo 50 minute foot massage/50 minute body massage) and it certainly wasn't the best body massage I've had but wasn't the worst. If you have a regular RMT that you go to, I'd probably stick to that. There's ample street parking out front. Come here, you won't regret it! read more

They offer endless green tea, and the last time I was there they offered a 5 min shoulder massage before the foot rub began Watch the timing. I have been twice and my first experience the massage was 30 mins when I paid for 55. The masseur was confused and just went on to the next customer. Thought they totally felt bad and only made me pay for half....really they should have taken care of the entire thing. Footworks Relaxology, located at 2992 West Broadway, offers traditional foot reflexology services in a contemporary setting. When I was little girl, my mother always told me to take good care of my feet. She use to work long laborious hours in a factory and as soon as she got home, she would apply pressure on her feet with her fingers and thumbs. She said there are certain points on the feet (as well as your hands) that are connected to the rest of your body. This is what we call reflexology - By applying pressure to certain zones of the feet, it can help by relieving tension, stress from other parts of your body. Celebrity Gwenyth Paltrow is a big fan of reflexology and she dishes about it on her blog, "GOOP". What I liked most about Footworks is the clean and simple contemporary space. They also have a couples room at back with a TV for some privacy. On top of their regular foot massage, they also offer a leg scrub and aromatherapy oils as an add on which I would highly recommend. A regular session of 55 minutes is only $39 and you can up that to 80 minutes for $59. If this is your first time with reflexology, make sure you tell them. They are able to adjust the pressure to your liking so that they can make your experience as comfortable as possible. read more

I checked out Footworks Relaxology for the first time last night by myself after lots of excercising during the week and stressed out from work. I wanted a little pampering for my poor feet and I felt wonderful afterwards. I got a 10% discount for having an evening appointment and complimentary back massage (although at times it was a bit painful.......maybe too much stress and pain). I was given an hour long foot reflexology session as a Fathers Day present. I am normally very hesitant about doing stuff like this because I feel uncomfortable about it. I'm not sure why, it's just me. I found this place to be very comfortable and relaxing. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I like my massage therapist, but don't like where she's working right now. It's a bit surf and turf - a lot of clients can come through and I'm guessing that's why you don't get the full amount of time you pay for. I never had this issue, not with massage therapists anyway, in all the other places I've been to. Footworks Relaxology needs to allow more time between people or something to avoid this sort of thing from happening. The first time, I overlooked it but this second and last time: I don't care how good the person is, you don't start late and end early. I will see my massage therapist if she ever moves to another setting, but not while she's here. read more

They have about 5 chairs, so if you want to come with someone, you better make a reservation. I am so disappointed with our foot massages. I felt like my masseuse was agitated and took it out on my limbs. The appointment was rushed, and the massage was jerky and unnecessarily painful. She frequently slapped my legs and feet with what felt like full force, and rested her body weight on my foot as she massaged my leg. I did not feel as though I could speak up because my masseuse had such a negative demeanor and I was afraid she would take her frustration out on me. There are many "good practices" that people in the care/relaxation profession should employ. 1) Asking for consent to touch certain body parts; 2) asking if the client has any sensitive spots or injuries; 3) checking in on pressure and comfort level; 4) treating people with kindness. This place did not fulfill any of the above. We will not be going back. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this place 1 star. My partner and I had a foot works hour massage. They gave me a beginner (white lady, can't remember her name) - she rubbed my feet and legs the whole time without any routine - I felt like my feet and legs were on fire from all the rubbing. My boyfriend next to me had a foot massage by a guy (David?) and he did a fantastic job. My lady just copied parts of his routine then would push on very sensitive parts of my feet and when I pulled away because it hurt she would say things like "oh that's your ovaries" or "oh that's your spine"... Seriously?! So disappointed and would never go back! I hope you don't get the same treatment from this woman! I also had a massage there before - sub par. Not Thai style which I've had before. More like wam bam thank you mam. Plus it was noisy from the outside and so dark in the room. The wall had a sign "no special ending" which seemed more like an invite. Totally weird! read more
