If I could give this business 0 stars I would. Very rude girl at the front. Dr. recommended I see a ophthalmologist. And it was a Saturday near 12 pm. They tried calling to get an appointment, when it became apparent that there was going to be no answer instead of giving me the number to call myself the lady stayed on the unanswered phone for over 20 minutes. Letting it ring and ring. When I asked to get the phone number myself she told me no the doctor told her to make the appointment. I was charged for a visit that day and they did nothing for me. I did not get any prescription to get new glasses or contacts and was told they would adjust the price when I came back in after seeing the ophthalmologist. I saw the required doctor and went back in and instead of adjusting my appointment amount they charged me for another appointment. I will never return to this establishment again. the girl at the front desk has 0 customer service skills and should not be there. read more

I went to For Eyes in Algonquin for an exam and reading glasses and wished I hadn't, the exam was rushed and the reading glasses they tried to sell me were well over $100. I didn't purchase from Four Eyes but went to the drug store and bought a pair for $7.99 and I can see great with them. read more

I live in Schaumburg but my family and I drive all the way out to Algonquin to see Dr. Wickizer. She is so friendly and patient. She actually started out in Schaumburg but when she transferred to Algonquin, the Schaumburg store kinda went downhill so we hall it out to Algonquin when we need our exams. Dr. Wickizer gives a thorough exam and she also gave me different types of contacts to try out before I purchased. The staff when you are purchasing glasses, helps you to get the best deal. They will check with your insurance to see what your insurance pays or if the sale price is better. The only bad thing is glasses and contacts are so expensive but that is not the staff's fault, I know The pricing is set by "Corporate". read more

My husband and I had eye exams and got glasses at the Algonquin location. We have been here before; we bounce back and forth between this location and Johnson's Eyecare in Cary, depending on which eyeglass insurance we happen to have at the moment. We currently have Eyemed. Dr. Whitty is great. He has caught eye conditions for both me and my husband that required follow up with an outside specialist. I feel very comfortable trusting our vision screenings to him. The front end manager Gilberto was also really great with helping us pick out glasses, going over our insurance benefits, and making sure we utilized both our insurance and the coupons that for Eyes offered. We were able to each get multiple pairs of glasses for way less that I expected. We will continue to go here for glasses. read more

My kids and I have been going to Dr. Wickizer for years. I always tell friends and family if you want to see better, better see my eye doctor. Not sure she would want me to make that claim. But what I can safely say is that she really cares for her patients. From our friendly conversations to the thorough eye exams, accurate prescriptions, and continuing compassionate care and education, Dr. Wickizer is top notch. I highly recommend that you get your annual exams with Dr. Wickizer. Best eye doctor ever! I can't believe these bad reviews! I can only hope they met different people when I was there. I actually looked on yelp at these reviews before I went and was a little scared, thank goodness I didn't listen! Everyone was so nice and helpful! The lady doctor was great and super sweet. The people upfront were nothing but nice and I want to give a special shoutout to Gilbert! He was awesome! One thing I can say is they should have another person helping with fitting/selling the glasses but him being there alone AND busy he was on top of everything! I would've been so overwhelmed but he was trying his best and being so nice and courteous at the same time. He deserves a promotion! Beyond that, for eyes had great prices. I got an exam, contact fitting, 6 months of contexts, new glasses with lens that are anti glare and scratch proof, AND a warranty for the glasses that rolls over to my next pair If I don't use it, for all a little over $400. My last place I pair well close to $600 for anti glare glasses and 3 months of contacts! This place and the people are wesome!! Thanks everyone & Gilbert! read more

Dr. Daniel Whitty provided the most detailed, patient, thorough and considerate eye exam I've experienced in 42 years of wearing glasses and contacts. The result? I can see 20/20 for the first time several years... in bifocal contacts no less. Shop has nice folks and a decent section of frames, but it's this doctor who wins the 5 stars. read more

My husband and I are very impressed with both the Dr's and the four eyes staff. Upon receiving our glasses the four eyes staff noticed a minimal divot in the very outer edge of the lens. They could have just gave them to us without a word and we may have never known, however, they ordered a new lens on their own. They obviously care a great deal about their work and their customers. I have been to many different For Eyes and this one is the only one that compelled me to write a review. My wife and I both went here for our annual eye exam last summer. The office seemed to be poorly managed as we waited over an hour past our appointment times with no recognition of that by any of the staff. A 'we are very sorry we are running behind...' would have been nicely appropriate. After our exams we were both curious as to both of our contact prescriptions had changed. Both of our had improved to a lesser prescription. Anyway, after a week my wife was complaining that she was having difficulty seeing at work and I also was noticing a problem with mine (my prescription was always -.75 in both eyes and the Dr. switched my left eye to -.50). I called them up and they said we could come in and try our old prescription. My wife did that and her eyesight was immediately restored. They said they would order her old contacts and it would take about a week. From the time of the exam to my wife actually getting the correct prescription about 3 weeks passed. When I brought in the remaining contact boxes they issued her to swap them out they only replaced what she hadn't used. I said they should give my wife the full correct order since their Dr. prescribed the wrong ones initially and they disagreed. I had my children with me and many other errands to run so I accepted the swap and left there knowing we will never recommend this place nor ever go back ourselves. read more

Unprofessional, unfriendly, and very unhelpful staff who were women. Waited over a half hour without acknowledgment, only to find out the staff couldn't repair the stems to my glasses that fell off because of being bent but somehow were offering to fix/adjust another customer's eye wear with ease? Such a waste of my time. I've never experienced poor customer service such as Walmart's Vision Care!!! I only wish I could rate this place with 0 stars! By the way, to the woman who stated my glasses are "completely unfixable," GUESS WHAT!" After using pliers,a toe nail cutter, and tweezers my non credentialed ophthalmology self FIXED THEM! So they were fixable! Your statement really makes me feel you were too lazy, feeling rushed to get off your shift, or were wanting me to consider purchasing a brand new pair with an eye appointment charge. No thanks. I have to tell you all to be very careful in going here. The female dr. That works here should have her license taken away. She was so unprofessional it was unacceptable. First of all don't take their staff's word for what is covered under your insurance, they don't know how to do the paperwork correctly. The dr. Apparently can not give you a proper eye exam if she doesn't have your old prescription, her words. Don't let her put you in a different brand of contacts, where I'm pretty sure she's just getting a kick back from. Now I have abrasions on my eyes from an allergic reaction to the material, which is very common with that brand. But was never mentioned in my follow-up appointment after my complaints. Now after having to go to another dr. I have found out that my contacts and eye glasses are two different strengths then what I needed and what was made for me. Please what ever you do stay away from this place! I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

Be assertive so you don't get ripped off. I've purchased three pairs of glasses in the past year or so from For Eyes in Algonquin. Their selection is so-so. I was happy with my first pair of glasses and the tech glasses (for computer work) that I got at the same time. The service was a little sketchy and lacked transparency. Like most eyeglass places, be prepared for sticker shock! I was not shown how everything added up and felt that Mary, the salesperson, should have discussed each item with me. The transaction seemed a little pushy. Recently, I decided to get blue frames and that was harder to find. The wire pair I first picked out did not look or feel good when I got it back with the lenses. Because of the store's policy of full replacement if you change your mind about your spectacles in 30 days, I decided to get a different pair. The For Eyes website showed a blue Coach pair so I asked Mary to order it for me. She wrote down the info and said she would. Never heard back and when I finally talked with Mary by phone I got the sense that they wouldn't be able (or willing?) to get the blue Coach frames, ever. Like much of their communication, it was never really clear. So I ordered the item on Amazon and brought in my own frames! My frames were made into eyeglasses for me and I am happy with them. I asked to see a copy of the 30 day policy so I could figure out how much money I should get back for having to purchase my own frames. The policy was not available online and was not made available to me at the store, though I asked the manager, Gilbert. So I got the replacement glasses but did not get any money back for the $160 I spent on the original frames (the wire ones that did not work out). They treated it as an equal exchange for the glasses I returned. At that point, I was glad to be done and get out of there. The corporate culture of For Eyes seems to indulge or even encourage shady tactics. I had to be assertive and repeat questions over and over till I got answers or their versions of answers. I felt pushed rather than assisted by the salesperson at times. I see from reviews written by For Eyes employees (at a website that reviews companies) that they also suffer from lack of transparency and communication at work. For instance, they're not allowed to call the pay roll department and ask about vacation days, etc. Sounds like a dehumanizing environment that is conveyed along the line to their retail stores. They're just trying to make a living at these stores and we're just trying to get a good product for a good price. Here is an update for the above review. I heard from the For Eyes company and the store manager, Gilbert, shortly after I posted my review about my experiences buying a pair of blue glasses. I was offered a refund to cover the glasses that I purchased and returned. The message from the company indicated plans to improve customer service. So that's good news. read more

My sister and I had prescheduled appointments, we were there on time to fill out paper work. The staff wasn't that helpful, seemed disorganized. On the paperwork we both signed that we didn't want their "field of vision test" because it costs extra and seemed to serve no purpose. We did some preliminary testing which was a little tedious but fine. Our appointments with the male DR were actually very good. He was comprehensive and did a good job of describing procedures and explaining the results. I would recommend except for when he opted us into this "field of vision test" where both of us sat for 20 minutes because we couldn't see anything that we were supposed to be seeing. The technician runs the test multiple times until I start randomly clicking the button and she finally lets me leave. We were charged extra for the test we specified we didn't want. Not to mention they didn't tell us any results, they didn't communicate it's importance, and it didn't seem to have any effect on our prescription or hold any importance to our eye health. Yet we paid for it. Then we get to purchasing our contacts/glasses. Mary is a swindler. She was forceful, bossy and must have thought we were completely incompetent. She talks over you and faster than you to try and overwhelm you into buying things you don't want. She kept shoving different prices in our faces that seemed to come out of thin air. And the more questions you ask the higher the prices, the more she interrupts you, and walks away. We were there for over two hours. We just wanted to pay and leave. It was miserable. Then once we were paying, I handed her the card, and then she disappeared into the back for a couple minutes. We were, at this point, past being annoyed and we were just laughing about how awful that place is. 2 hours and 15 minutes later we laughed the entire way home because this place is UNREAL.
