Let me back up and give you some context. My husband and I knew we wanted to get married in NJ on my uncle's farm. The only problems with that were that we lived across the country in Portland and we didn't have a building to have the ceremony in. My husband and I also both worked full time jobs. We began to realize that we'd have some time constraints on our hands and hiring a wedding planner might not be a bad idea. After reading some reviews online, I reached out to a few planners and set up a couple of introductory calls to hear about their services and experiences. When I started talking to different wedding planner, every one of them started off by telling me about all of their packages and what was included in their service. Lindsay was different. Unlike the other planners who immediately went into their sales pitch, Lindsay wanted to hear our story and what we wanted in our wedding. It seemed like she genuinely wanted to help us create our special day, not just give us a cookie cutter list of services. This was such a refreshing and personal way of approaching wedding planning. I knew from that minute that I wanted her to plan my wedding. Lindsay of Simply Sunshine Events is an amazing events planner, coordinator, and event designer. She covers a wide array of events, from wedding and baby showers to corporate events and fundraisers. And every single review that I read about the company was simply glowing. Not only is she professional, candid, creative, and helpful, but she just seemed like someone who I would work well with. Ironically we both grew up super close to one another, so we instantly clicked on that part of our past. Even without that connection, I knew that we would get along well. We decided to get help on both the design portion as well as the planning portion of our wedding. I'm really not the most creative person in the world and I felt like we needed help putting together the overall vision. We were presented with a personalize design brief with a couple of different options. Once we decided on a vision, Lindsay was able to pick out vendor options that she thought would work well with the venue and overall theme. It was so much less overwhelming being able to choose out of a couple of highly recommended vendors than to have to choose from everyone in the area. Which leads me to another important thing that Lindsay brought to the table: experience. Not only has she worked with all of these people before, but she has seen all the ins and outs of doing a wedding at a "home" venue. Initially, we thought it would be more cost efficient and easier to have an at home wedding. However, it turns out that this makes the whole planning process much more difficult since we had to not only style a wedding but actually create a venue. Lindsay instantly knew all the things we needed to look into - a tent, flooring, a generator, bathrooms, the list goes on and on. She provided us super detail specific timelines of when we should do each task, as well as supplemental tools to assist us along the way. With Lindsay's help, my husband and I made a lot of the big decisions pretty early on in the planning process. I completely trusted Lindsay's opinion on vendors and that really worked out well for us. We had amazing food and cake tastings, had a florist meeting on site that was spot on, and have a Chaplain who gave me chills when going through ceremony options. The best part about the whole deal is that Lindsay can sometimes get her clients special discounts with vendors that she works with regularly, and passes those deals directly to her clients. Some planners will take those discounts as profits, but Lindsay has an awesome system where she charged us one flat fee for everything listed in her contract and helped us save money elsewhere. She was a huge help in constructing our budget and sticking to it. Overall, I'm so glad we worked with Simply Sunshine for both the planning and design part of our wedding. The wedding went off beautifully and I was so glad I could just relax and be fully present on the wedding day. Even though there was threat of rain all the way up to the actual day, we were able to execute a plan B (extra tents for the ceremony and cocktail hour) that most people had no idea was actually not what we originally intended. I was so thankful to have such an amazing team of vendors backing me up through the preparation and actual day, even when we threw curve balls at them. Simply Sunshine Events has made this whole planning process less stressful than I was initially expecting, and made our wedding day more amazing than I ever could have hoped for.

We got married in September, and I can tell you that to this day, our guests are still raving over the fun they had. We literally danced from the time we were done eating to the last note of the final song. Mind you - our guests ranged from 3 yo to 80 yo! And yes - all were on the dance floor. When I first started looking for a DJ, I remember reading all their reviews - and I am telling you - BELIEVE it! They deserve all the positive feedback. The way that Will talked about their business and how they approach weddings was exactly what we were looking for. We are all about the music and having an MC and a DJ to help with the flow of the night just made sense. Even though we didn't end up choosing that venue for our wedding we left feeling as if we'd found our entertainment team.  When we met with James to discuss the options for our night we were excited to learn we could also add on a lighting package to make the event even more memorable. After talking through our wedding vision and the type of music we like we were paired with our DJ/MC team. This Is It hadn't been to our venue before so they met us there to make sure that our lighting plans could work with the layout. It was helpful to have James and Chris talk through everything with us.  We were all set to go and then COVID hit. When trying to figure out our new plans we knew that This Is It Entertainment HAD to be part of them. They were one of the top vendors we wanted to make sure to keep. The team was so flexible with us in rescheduling our date. The live stream dance parties they have been doing during the pandemic have been something we look forward to every week. And they make us even more excited for our big day next year. My experience was definitely unforgettable... but not in a good way. :( my fiance and i were really…read moreexcited about potentially booking one of their dj's, pj, for our upcoming wedding. i gave them a call and whereas i'd had no problems with any vendors coming into manhattan to meet with us, they told us that they had a "no driving into manhattan without a contract" policy. i thought that was understandable, so made arrangements with my fiance to take the day off work on a tuesday to meet with the dj at our venue in clifton, nj. before the meeting, not knowing the etiquette, we asked the dj if we were expected to provide a meal. his reply was very curt and told us that "in 12+ years of dj-ing he'd never come across this question." yikes. we definitely didn't mean to offend and we apologized and assured him we'd be happy to pay for his meal. however, we scheduled another meeting with another dj just to have a back up. this dj was also in central jersey, came in to the city to meet with us, and gave us a great rate! my fiance and i were impressed but we had already gotten the time off work and the wedding wire reviews were so great that we decided we still wanted to meet with unforgettable djs. the meeting went very well! we thought pj had a lot of awesome, youthful energy. however, we wanted some time to think about it. my fiance and i debated and while the packaging price was better with the other dj, we thought that pj seemed like he'd bring more energy to the night. we e-mailed them explaining where we were in the decision-making process and asked if the price was negotiable. a few minutes later we received an e-mail that was essentially an e-mail RANT, accusing us of giving them "the bait and switch," listing all the trouble they'd gone through to meet with us. they also stated, "To offer my services for one dollar less is to de-value my services and I would never be able to do that." they also accused us of trying to steal their ideas ("I offered you input that you now will be able to use whether it's with me or any other DJ that you choose.") which seemed both paranoid and arrogant. i later called the owner of the company who apologized to me (hence the 2 star instead of 1). however, as a bride-to-be who is already stressed enough planning, having to tiptoe around one of my vendors is SO NOT WORTH IT. yes, maybe other people who used them loved them, but if you decide (or even LOOK like you're going to decide) to not go with them, watch out! an intimidating exchange at best, a demeaning one at worst. bring your business elsewhere. note: i was really surprised that wedding wire had ONLY glowing reviews about this place and looked up how the reviews worked. it seems that if there is a bad review, vendors can get that review pulled from the site. that's MESSED UP. secondly, i feel like a good chunk of the wedding wire reviews are fake because this place ALREADY has 1 filtered review posted. YAY for yelp for posting REAL reviews by REAL people and monitoring it!

All around, everyone at Unforgettable DJs was a pleasure to work with. My wife and I went off book in a lot of ways, ignoring a lot of typical wedding tropes to try and make the event something to really represent us, and Chris was right there with us the entire time. He was great about setting up meetings to talk through our plans, and helped a great deal in taking the random collection of ideas we compiled, and fine tuning them into exactly what we were looking for. Chris is really knowledgable about the dynamics of a wedding how crowds respond, what they expect, what kinds of music works best in what scenarios, etc. This kind of expertise was invaluable in figuring out how we could make everything work. Chris even had some great ideas of his own that really helped bring everything together. He hooked us up with uplighting, which really added a nice touch to the venue (we got married in a huge art gallery). And we were even able to book an awesome Red Carpet Photo Booth for the guests, which everyone loved. During the wedding itself, Chris did a great job of setting a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. He really connected with the crowd, and was very responsive to the mood of the room. A lot of the music we selected wasn't really common for a wedding, but Chris managed to put it together in such a way that people really responded to it. Overall, we put a lot on Chris and his team to dictate the flow of the evening, since we weren't doing a typical sit-down dinner, but they did an amazing job keeping everything on track, while still feeling spontaneous. Since the wedding we've gotten a lot of compliments on it, and had several people ask for Chris' contact information to pass along to people they know getting married (which I think says far more than this long sprawling review could).

I got married to my best friend just a few days ago, and I am leaving this review because I am beyond grateful to have had the chance to meet Michael and have him officiate our ceremony. My husband and I aren't the most typical; we are both nerds, both introverts, and both neurodivergent. We aimed for our wedding to represent us in every possible way, and to be totally honest, before we met Michael, we struggled to find an officiant who understood us and gave us the feeling we were in good hands. Michael not only took the time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, but he also went above and beyond to tailor his speech to perfection. He found the exact words to make us feel seen, amused, understood, and absolutely happy. He even researched the videogame I met my husband in and used a few of the beautiful phrases our favorite characters say. As if that weren't impressive enough, he was the very first person to arrive at the ceremony, looking sharp in his suit, ready for anything that came our way. Did you forget a ring box? No worries, he had one. Would your makeup get ruined with all the tears? Fear not. He had Q-tips and tissues in every pocket. For those who get the reference, his suit was like Mary Poppins bag. He also made sure we were calm, relaxed, and happy before stepping outside the bridal room and helped us with all introductions and announcements. Throughout the entire event, and even before that, communication was smooth, prompt, and transparent. When our hand fasting cord got left behind, you went running mid ceremony to find it even tho you didn't have to..only taking maybe 2 min to find it amongst all the craziness of wedding decor, boxes, bridesmaids bags and who only knows what else!!...then running it out to our outdoor ceremony (those longs legs help!) I believe you knew where more things were than any of us did the day of!! My husband, so grateful for your humor and professionalism was beyond thankful when you would fix his boutonnière and in the moment tell him things to help keep everything going smoothly...like not to hug people wearing makeup the way he was bc he's so tall too, that they were smearing all over his suit but you pulled out a shout wipe, cleaned him up and kept it moving. Communication from our first phone call all the way through after the wedding was impeccable. We had a blast doing all of our photos, you keep it light and fun so everyone can relax and you can get the shots we wanted, to have our wedding day story told so beautifully.
