We could not have been more happy with our experience. From the minute we booked we felt so cared for. The maitre'd that led us through our initial tour no longer works at English Manor, but that was no issue whatsoever. Marlyn picked up like she had been with us from the very beginning. EVERY email was answered with ease IN THE MOST TIMELY OF FASHIONs, and all concerns (really more so questions) were addressed. Our details meeting was so thorough and I went into our day feeling completely confident that my vision would come to life. IT DID AND THEN SOME. Again, I truly believe this was all because of Marlyn and Jen. I am Type A, so this was something I was very concerned about. From the minute we set foot on the venue property the morning of our wedding until the minute we left we were absolutely blown away. Marlyn and Jen were just so above and beyond anything we could have ever imagined. I would've had Marlyn at my wedding as a guest because I love her so much. I went through my day stress free without any type of professional coordinator (which was shocking for me!). marlyn handled absolutely every single detail and issue that arose. (Again, none of which were her fault lol.) Marlyn walked around with me, carried my bouquet, made sure my phone got to my good friend to snap some photos, made sure I had a drink in my hand every minute I wanted it, and just thought of absolutely everything. She even SCRUBBED the dirt off my dress from the rain so it was perfect. I cannot recommend this stunning venue enough! Although, a team is only as good as their players. so, more importantly, i cannot recommend marlyn enough. Our guests are still raving about the venue, scenery, food, and atmosphere. Came to The English Manor about a month ago for a friend's wedding that my fiance was a bride's maid in. Let me start by saying the grounds are just beautiful. The parking lot is a little odd, but the Manor and its gardens are gorgeous. You walk in and you feel like you've entered an old rich relative's home. There is a small sitting room to your right where they have some beverages and fresh fruit out for guests to enjoy. They also decorate the room with pictures of the bride and groom, making it feel even more like a home, rather than a reception hall. The reception was out back so when the bride gives everyone the go-ahead, the guests will heading out the back to the gardens. (They also do indoor ceremonies in the winter and probably if it rains) There's a deck that leads you through some greenery and over a stream to the ceremony area. It's a pretty open space so the sun will beam down quite a bit. Looks great, but it can get a little warm for the guests. After the ceremony is done, the cocktail hour begins immediately, which is great for those of us who hate the long waits in between. There is seating on the deck and some more seating on another one of their lawns. There is also an indoor cocktail hour area for inclimate weather. As for food, they had veggie platters, cheeses, a selection of about 4 hot foods and a stir fry station. There were also servers walking around with a nice variety of hor dourves. Oh yea, and there was a bar with two bartenders that operated quickly enough that there wasn't much waiting around. Next to the reception. The hall isn't huge, but it makes for an intimate event. I feel like this is pretty personal to the couple and vendors, but the reception was very enjoyable. Food was all quite good. Everything was very nice. Overall, the wedding was great. For someone who is planning a wedding myself, I looked at everything as to whether or not I would like it for my wedding and I can say this place is really nice. What impressed me more than anything my surprise you and I swear I'm not an alcoholic, but it was the bartending. One bartender in particular was quite impressive. With about 150 people at the wedding, this bartender remembered your order with ease. I switched my beverage of choice and he kept on top of it the next time I went up. He was very quick and made a good drink. I know it's strange, but that guy was impressive and definitely enhanced the experience. We went to a wedding tonight. It was the Demarist wedding. As you walk into the house, the cozy cottage charm what spectacular. The ceremony took place out in the back, over at the creek and in the rose garden. . They call a Saw end up listing space was so joyous for the wedding. we then walked into the back room, where they had station set up for food, and the farm set up for cocktails. They are showing reception to place in the ballroom. The food was wonderful, the staff is great, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. read more

English Manor has some charming grounds. Gardens with vibrant colors surrounded by forest makes for a lovely setting. Outdoor ceremony space utilizes the scenery very well. A paved walkway acts as the aisle and guests are seated on the grass. Cocktail hour was held on a deck with some benches and tables and chairs that led to additional tables down some stairs to a grassy area. The indoor space is very well kept and everything seems new. The ballroom is spacious and bright with a decent sized dance floor and a bar built into the wall. The staff seemed very on top of peoples needs as well as removing empty glasses and plates during the cocktail hour and replenishing food as needed. As for the food, it was only so so. The cocktail hour had some tasty buffet items like fried calamari, Asian stir fry and the passed hors d'oeuvres like the fried mac and cheese ball and crab cake, all were delicious. Some of the buffet items could be improved, like the pasta station and eggplant rollatini. Dinner started out with mozzarella and tomato tower. The mozzarella, prosciutto and olives and balsamic drizzle were good; the tomatoes were not. For it being August in NJ you would think they could find a good tomato. The main course was a choice of chicken, salmon or prime rib. I, like everyone else at my table, chose the prime rib. We weren't asked what temperature we wanted our meat cooked, so most of the table ended up with well done meat, a couple of which were extremely over cooked. For the meat that was not badly overcooked, it was tender and it was very good and flavorful. Served with some lovely steamed asparagus and a large croquette like potato, they were a tasty accompaniment to the meat. They even came around with seconds for those who wanted some more. The wedding cake looked great and was heavenly. The bathrooms were clean and new and quite comfortable. English Manor makes for a beautiful wedding and if some of the food can be taken up a notch, it would be excellent. read more

Very nice venue this weekend - we had a wedding on Friday night. I felt the staff was very helpful and kind. My only complaint was the "bridal suit" was freezing & it was cold outside. The door also locked its self and that was a bit stressful- luckily the main office is the room across the hall so that was not too unfortunate. The food was pretty good and the bartenders were great. We had a nice time. I did wish the room was a bit larger, it felt a bit snug. The photo booth was also in another room which isn't a great move- but overall very nice venue. We had a great time! read more

Our guests have not stopped complimenting how good the food was - from the cocktail hour through the main meal, and the deserts and donuts when departing. Only regret is that as the hosts we were too busy meeting and greeting and did not get to sample more food at the cocktail hour! We attended a wedding here November 2018. The place was very accomodating and looked great. We happened to arrive very early because we were coming from far away. They put out some cheese and crackers with water and that was nice. This wedding was one of the nicest weddings I have been to. The food was fantastic and not just cookie cutter food. The chicken dish was special and tasted great. The cocktail hour featured many different appetizers and all tasted great. The staff treated everyone great. Words cant describe how much I love the English Manor!!! My husband and I got married on 5/19/2023 and everything the venue had to offer blew all my expectations for our wedding. I came to the English Manor for a good friends' wedding which they held outdoors. The restaurant (caterers? wedding place? what do you call a place that specializes in group functions?) staff did an excellent job of decorating as well as assisting the guests. They put on a great ceremony. The reception was tremendous, with a great bar and hor d'oeuvres service which almost felt like the main meal. The meal service itself was excellent with three selections, a drink and coffee service. All of the food was excellent! I can't say enough about the amazing service during the service and reception. Our wedding day at The English Manor was truly magical! As soon as we entered, we were immediately welcomed by Lisa who toured us around the beautiful estate. We quickly fell head-over-hells for the venue. The incredible ceremony space, the option for an outdoor cocktail hour on the beautiful deck and the stunning reception room, each part was better than the next. We quickly hopped on the opportunity to plan our dream wedding day at The English Manor. We had a phenomenal food tasting months in advance of the wedding to help choose between all of the scrumptious options. As the wedding date got closer, we met with our Maître D', Denise, who put all of our worries aside. It was so easy working with Denise, she was always available for what seemed like the silliest of questions and she had great ideas and recommendations for the big day! The weather on our big day was phenomenal so we were able to fulfill our dream of an outdoor wedding. We were privileged be able to do our first look, bridal party and family pictures at The English Manor before our ceremony. The lush grounds made a beautiful backdrop for each and every picture. The cocktail hour and reception food were just incredible! My guests are still raving about the vast array of foods at cocktail hour and the quality and quantity of food throughout the entire event! The entire wedding day went incredibly smoothly thanks to Denise. She even fixed my bustle that broke at the start of the reception! Silvana was an extreme pleasure to work with on the wedding day. Very disappointed in the staff and how they treated the bridal party and guests! The Bride and Groom paid all that $$ and still could not have what they wanted on their wedding day/night because the maitre d' was a massive rude cranky witch! Very unprofessional! Bar did not open until a half hour into the wedding leaving guest unhappy, food was good, staff not so much! (except the photographer & videographer, they were great) Not only were we (the bridal party) and the guests yelled at like children but the maître d' and staff also refused to serve us certain alcohol!! They even made the wedding guests sit on wet chairs for the ceremony! A wedding venue is supposed to put the Bride & Groom at ease and all they did was make the day more stressful then necessary! Every, single part -from the day we booked to the moment we drove away - was incredible. The service is superb. We worked with Alex during the booking process and the food tasting. Any question I had, she was quick to respond. So friendly and personable, she made us feel like she knew us forever. Kristi was our maitre'd for the wedding and she helped with the final details, cake tasting and execution of the event. As the day was approaching, I found myself having a lot of little questions. Kristi went out of her way to answer them and was so lovely about it all. Everyone we worked with seemed to really enjoy their job and genuinely cared about making our wedding the most special day for us. I felt so comfortable trusting all of the people at EM to make my wedding vision come to life. In addition to the service, the food was amazing. We both come from families who have high standards for food, and we were beyond satisfied. We opted to upgrade to the filet mignon and we were so glad that we did. I had my wedding here in June 2013 and couldn't be more pleased. They accommodated every special request we had (and there were plenty). Everyone was extremely nice and I even had the opportunity to speak with the owner who is wonderful and warm. The grounds and ballroom are beautiful and picturesque. There is no need to go anywhere else for photos. The food was delicious and they provided seconds for all our guests as well as some for us to take home at the end of the reception. They have little touches that make your day special. We just had our wedding at The English Manor on Friday October 30, 2015. Marlyn was our Maître D and words are not adequate to describe what a great job she did, but will get to than in a moment. The food and staff were amazing and everything went off with out a hitch. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but guests were commenting about how great and how much food there was at the cocktail hour. Then at dinner, guests were shocked when asked if they wanted seconds. Marlyn not only anticipated our every need but always seemed to be a step ahead of our requests. She heard that not only were we Met fans but that many guests were too. There are no TV's but she took it upon herself to bring her own TV so guests could step out and check out the scores. In addition, the maid of honor, pulled a muscle and was having trouble walking at the reception in heels. Marlyn appeared out of no where with a pair of flip flops for her to wear. Many guests commented that this was the best wedding they ever attended. We wish we were able to give more than 5 stars, as she made us feel special from the first moment we met to plan the event to the end of the night. Very underwhelmed by this place. The grounds look beautiful but think again. The worst part about this place was the staff. They were not friendly nor accommodating (reiterated in others reviews as well). They couldn't do shots and didn't have half the liquor guests were requesting. Honestly, the food was a bunch of meat, sliders and Mac n cheese for cocktails. Fast forward to dinner and I requested a vegetarian option, which they said they had. Literally got a plate of roasted vegetables. Which was literally a plate of everyone else's side of vegetables smashed together. So disappointing (and hungry). The DJ said he would play until 1 and they cut us off almost abruptly at 10:30. Told everyone they were closing up. The DJ played one more song as per everyone's request and got yelled at for going 4 minutes over? Would never book my wedding here and feel bad for everyone else who had their vision for their wedding taken from them. It's supposed to be "your" wedding day, yet it sounds like English Manor has another idea in mind. read more

Where do I begin.. The English Manor looks charming on the outside, the grounds are wonderful and I'll admit that the food was pretty good. However, being on the inside the charming place became a nightmare. My ceremony was taken place outside. Before the ceremony even started the bridal party was getting yelled out by staff for not following direction. My guest were also being yelled at by staff because they weren't sitting durning the ceremony. (It had just rained n the chairs were wet the staff did not dry them) everyone was treated like a child. Fast forward to the reception..Let's start by saying I wanted my wedding to be a never ending dance fest. I didn't want tradition by doing speeches and dances in the beginning of the night. We wanted to walk in and the DJ was told to keep the music going. We wanted to wait till dinner so while people were eating we can get all the tradition out of the way. Our wedding coordinator was explained this before the wedding. So it was a surprise to us that the bar wouldn't open till the speeches were completed. Leaving unhappy guests and even more unhappy bride and groom. It was embarrassing to see people lined up at the bar knocking on the window waiting for them to open. When we finally yelled and got them to open the bar people who drink scotch on the rocks or jack on the rocks are being told no we do not give out shots, including the groom who drinks jack on the rocks. The groom had to remind them whom was paying for the event. The entire night my guest would come up to me and say great food horrible service.. From the waiters to the bartenders they all looked as if we were bothering them whenever someone had asked for anything. Very unprofessional. When it was time for desert we noticed our cake was completely wrong. We checked the contract and it was correct on paper, but when presented it was not at all what we asked for. At the end of the night one of my guest got hurt and complained. The next day he got a phone call asking what they could have done to make it better. They also stated we know the bride and groom were upset. At that point my guest stated don't you think you should call them? I never received a call email or any other form of contact. When people ask how my wedding day was I roll my eyes because our wonderful day was taken from us. The money that was spent was wasted. Our wedding day was not what we imagined; it was supposed to be a fairytale. What we received was Nightmare.. Think twice before booking.. They will tell you whatever it takes to get you to sign the contract once signed they don't care about you anymore.. read more

I contacted Nancy regarding potentially hosting an event at the venue. She was curt, rude and acted like she was doing me a favor by providing a sample menu. If an events coordinator is this lazy and rude before booking an event I can only imagine what she would be like after she has a contract. I would stay far away from this venue. read more

Looking for a venue in New Jersey can be extremely overwhelming to say the least. After visiting 9 venues we walked into the English Manor and they seemed to have everything we were looking for. We found that most venues either offered a fabulous ambiance with a limited food package or a fabulous food package but extremely outdated ambiance. To us, the English Manor offered the perfect mix of both. The staff was extremely accommodating to our every want and need. Denise did a fantastic job making our vision come to life! She was always available in the weeks leading up to the wedding and made sure we were treated like royalty the night of our wedding. The food was fantastic and our guests were so impressed when the staff came around with huge platters of second options during the main course! We had our wedding at the English Manor on Aug 15, 2014. Our ceremony and cocktail hour were outside, reception with buffet were inside. From the start, Lisa and her staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They seem to truly enjoy their work, which made planning much easier and our wedding day even more fun! The grounds, the manor, the details, everything was absolutely stunning. Half of our guests were vegetarian, half committed carnivores, and some just plain picky. The food was amazing, the variety was unbelievable, and Lisa went to great lengths to add special touches, including non-alcoholic champagne for some and a special bottle of scotch for my father. There is not a single thing that either of us would change about that day and Lisa and her staff are a huge part of it.
