Immediately, the vibes and atmosphere at Forager Brewery are awesome. The decor is amazing, everything from all the different beer artwork they have had, to mugs hanging from the ceiling. I ordered the Hip Hops, the beer wasn't anything special, tasted like a very generic IPA. For food, we started with an appetizer of the queso and tortilla chips, this was really good! For a main entree, I got the big cheese pizza and my partner got the Lara Bowl. Both were just okay. Wouldn't necessarily go here to eat again, price was pretty outrageous for what it was. The two waitresses that worked our table were flippant and rude, and the food and drinks were awful. I asked one waitress for a recommendation on drinks and she said she didn't have one. I told her I liked vodka and she offered literally no help or suggestion. A few of my friends ordered a bottle of what tasted like sour kombucha. The food was cold and I ended up ordering fries, which were undercooked. The second drink I ordered was so bad that I had everyone try it and we all laughed about how bad it was. Then, I asked the waitress if they did anything for birthdays bc it was our friend's birthday. She said no, we don't give out anything for free. I said, I didn't ask for anything free. This is probably my favorite brewery in Rochester. I love the dining areas and the outside patio that generally has live music on weekends. Their food is so solid and they try to incorporate other cultural foods into American dishes. My favorite dish is the salmon & it has a subtle kick of spice to it. They generally have rotating beers on tap & most are pretty solid options so it's hard to go wrong. I like that drinks are offered in 4oz pours as well so you can pick and choose basically your own flight. Was in Rochester to visit some family and wanted to explore a brewery in the area. My cousin and I went to Forager Brewery and we had a wonderful time! First, the inside and outside are both amazing. The inside is huge, and the coolest part was the library seating section they had. The weather was gorgeous (which is somewhat rare during spring in MN) so we had to sit outside. There were so many flowers and bushes, and the stage in the corner was beautiful too. Lots of outside seating and umbrellas too if you don't want too much sun. For drinks and food, we ordered the seasonal mead drink and it was delicious. I've never had mead before, but it was perfectly refreshing on a nice spring day. Originally my cousin wasn't going to have any drinks, but she had a sip and had to order one because it was so good! I also ordered the Kaleidoscope Kookaburra and enjoyed it, but I liked the Mead more. For food, YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE PILE OF FRIES! The aioli sauces were addicting, and the pile of fries was huge. I was thankful I got to bring it home and have leftovers later that night. When we left, we kept admiring the art on the outside of the building as well. The aesthetic overall at this place was just a great vibe. When I come back to Rochester, I will be back here and will order some more beers! Purely a food and atmosphere review. Inside and Out it's a very pleasant place to look at. I wish I could say the same from a parking standpoint. During the weekend parking isn't terrible but on a weekend? Good luck. Again, very very very beautiful place. If you don't know I am on the prowl for the BEST Reuben around, unfortunately it's not here. The corned beef was shredded which is very different, I definitely prefer sliced and it tasted more like Roast than corned. I'm a big fan of corned beef. Just like other places it was a bit heavy on the Swiss but very tolerable, was not an issue but worth mentioning. Kraut was... there was an interesting taste it may have been from the house made 1000 island dressing. I'm not sure but there was something there (or lacked). Fries were disappointing, they looked AMAZING but were very bland. I needed to ask for salt and pepper (was not on the table) it helped a bit but didn't save them. Maybe I had a bad batch I'm not sure, I've heard people say they have the best fries in town. Overall fine experience, nothing wrong but nothing making me WANT to come back. Reuben: 5/10 Fries 4/10 (I have high standards) Highly recommend this place if you like brewery's, I don't personally drink. read more

Fortunately they made a mistake when bringing my food and brought fries. Thus, I had both. I am glad they did because the mac and cheese was average at best. Don't get it added on as a side would be my advice. Maybe putting it in a cast iron and adding bacon takes it to a new level. My wife had the caprese salad. We are doing dry January, and in my experience for most breweries, the only non-beer option tends to be water. Not here! They have kombucha, wine, juices, and more! I had the lavender kombucha and it came in one of the beer glasses, so I didn't feel like a loser with the different glass. I felt included. It was a great drink! Without a doubt the best brewery in the Rochester area and most certainly a top contender in Minnesota as a whole. Not only does Forager brew up some other finest and funkiest beers around they are also dishing up incredible plates of irresistible food. With food coming from local farmers you are sure to get a delicious, fresh meal and you can really taste the difference. My most recent visit we indulged with their version of a classic comfort dish, Cast Iron Max & Cheese with a house blend of cheeses, panko, and kimchi. The dish is finished off in the oven and comes out with a slight char on the top starting you off with a nice little crunch as you dig deep into soft and tender noodles. The kimchi adds an explosion of flavors of ginger and garlic you wouldn't typically expect in Mac & Cheese. I also had the Double Diego burgers consisting of two smashed patties, melty America cheese, onions, pickles, and remoulade all on a freshly baked pretzel bun. Just like mom used to make it! Ha! Not even close, this was way better!!! The patties were perfectly seasoned and medium cooked, the raw onions adding a slight crunch paired with the creamy texture of the cheese and sweet maltiness from the pretzel bun. My mouth is watering writing about it. The beers. Oh the beers. I don't know where to start or finish. What's your flavor? Sours, yeah they are amazing. Belgians, yup incredible. IPAs, how do you want it? They've got the hazy, juicy, hoppy and bitter. Take your pick. Each beer has distinct flavors and incredible mouthfeels. This place is a must any time I'm visiting Rochester. The menu focuses mostly on burgers and pizzas, with some salad options. I stick to the burgers and they never disappoint. Although this is a brewery, I LOVE that they cater to us wine drinkers as well and, man, those pours are generous! As most have mentioned, parking here can suck. When I asked for a sample, he replied we don't give samples. Every brewery, cider house I've ever been to has offered samples with describing what each beer is made up of. We stopped here passing through on a road trip and happened to this brewery Bc most others were closed (it was a Monday?!?). This could be the best selection of beer we have ever had. We are no stranger to breweries and travel all over and have tried many in different states. The sours, tarts and IPA's here are some of the best I have ever had. If you love flavor and thicker beers than it's must try. The biggest bummer is due to local laws (?!?) you can only buy a growler of certain beers, no to-go cans, so it was impossible to try / take beers with us - we would have purchased a lot being so far away. They do have a sister company that brews in WI, when we drove through we were able to find a few of their beers canned / for sale in grocery stores and took some with. Took a mini detour on the way down to LaCrosse for the weekend and so happy we did. Let's start with the cute patio what a great outdoor space. The Coastal Sunrise is dangerous...in a good way. It honestly tasted like a smoothie that I could easily sip a couple of those each day. Now most breweries the focus is obviously the beer. Forager took a step above and provide excellent variety, great portions, and fabulous meals. Now I was side eyeing my friend for ordering Forager Noodles on a patio in 90 degree heat but I'm so glade they did. Great flavor and would venture down there to get it again. The pizzas were a perfect size for one and I am not ashamed that I ate each slice in one sitting. So happy to have stopped in and can't wait to get back down there again read more

Came here for dinner, not drinks, and was really impressed by the food! It was recommended to me by a doctor at the Mayo Clinic, who had rave reviews of the food. Drove an hour from LaCrosse, WI for lunch and beers only to find that this brewery takes the unique approach in not letting customers sip a beer to determine if they like it. Was 2:00 PM on a Wednesday and the place was 10% occupied, but was told that it creates too much of a burden on staff when "people order multiple tastes and then leave without ordering anything". If that's the case, then either their clientele is odd or their beers are not good. Their pints are boldly priced in the $8.00 -$9.00 range. Seen that a few times in San Diego and Boston at world class breweries with cult followings but not a cafe / brewery / Knick knack shop. We kept the $60 in our pocket and enjoyed beers and lunch elsewhere. read more

I went here on a Saturday night on our way through Rochester. I was excited to see that a brewery was serving dinner. It was nice getting to enjoy a brewery and have dinner instead of making two stops. I was happy to see there is a parking lot and an additional parking lot for overflow. You walk inside and into the coffee shop. It's cutely decorated and the artwork is incredible that lines the wall on the way to the brewery. We waited in line to be seated and they sat us right away at the bar. I ordered the Twisted Zweig raspberry sour and my friend for the Johnny C's. We both really enjoyed our drinks. They were very flavorful and my sour wasn't sweet like some tend to be. The menu for drinks isn't huge but there is at least one of each kind that you would expect. They really like heir gummy bear sours! For food I ordered the trout sandwich. I thought it was way over priced considering most of the sandwich is bread with a small piece of fish. The fish and toppings was so flavorful I only wish there was more. The fries are fresh and homemade. My friend got the Cuban and enjoyed it but again it's pretty small. I like their mission of local, sustainably sourced food that's homemade without using a microwave but I don't like the portion of foods. The beer gets a 4.5 and the food gets a 3.5. Standing on the patio, sipping a beer, looking at the massive flowers, and listening to the live jazz, I couldn't help but wonder about the patio's transformation. The area surrounding the brewery is mainly concrete and has electric wires in all directions. Yet, they were able to turn the area into something beautiful. I would watch a YouTube video of the transformation. The summer lineup of musicians was extensive. They were probably local or small time acts but they would still be fun. I really had a great visit for the food, beer, and atmosphere. I love when a restaurant serves great food and beer. I do think it's kind of rare when they can nail both and this place just happened to be one of the places that has. The door was broken when we entered and my plus done said that it was broken on his last visit almost a year ago so, it sounds like they could do some fixing up on something thought. They have a good sized parking lot, a nice sized dinning area, and a bar to belly up to! We sat at the bar. The staffed at the bar was really friendly and we met some regulars who were great as well. You can tell that the locals really enjoy this spot. I absolutely had to try their experimental beer on the menu called Methode Push pop ; Granddaddy Purple. The menu stated it was for those wanting to try something extraordinary. I was absolutely down for that. It was definitely special and fun to try. I was most obsessed with Johnny C a Belgian Style Dubbel brewed with buckwheat and fermented in oak barrels, and I also really love one of the fruited sours which was called Gummies Make Us Likeable: Paradise. They make some amazing sours that's for sure. For dinner I grabbed the Cast Iron Mac & Cheese made a blend of cheeses, panko, and topped with kimchi. I landed at MSP on a flight from PDX about mid day on Sunday. I rented a care and soon found myself driving down US 52 towards Rochester to visit my brother who was being treated as an outpatient at the Mayo Clinic. His treatment was done for the day, so he and his friend Todd were doing some out-of-town touring. We made contact and agreed to meet for a late lunch at the Forager Brewery. I found this place randomly via a Google search and then reading the reviews. I arrived 10 minutes earlier than them, passed on the donuts up front, and ordered a really nice cloudy double IPA to enjoy at our table while I waited. Scott and Todd arrived and we proceeded to catch up on our beers for several minutes before ordering our food. We all went for our own choice of burgers (mine included blue cheese and bacon) and really enjoyed them, including the fries. My second beer was a Holiday Imperial Stout which was expensive ($16 for 8 ounces) and outstanding. It was almost like drinking wine. Overall, we had a very nice time and Forager was a solid choice. We enjoyed the space, the waitress was very friendly and knew her beer, and it was great to just hang out. read more
