I was first introduced to Kinney Creek at a Seltzerland event where a bunch of seltzer vendors showcased their beverages. Kinney Creek stood out because their seltzers not only had the longest sample lines, but their flavors/taste easily surpassed any other seltzer brand that day. Every seltzer I tried that day tasted artificial and fake. Kinney Creek's seltzers stood out because they were smoother and tasted more natural. I was super bummed out when I googled to find that their taproom was only in Rochester. Chances of me being anywhere near there was slim to none unless I deliberately drive to Rochester. Fast forward a couple months, we find ourselves conveniently driving through Rochester enroute back to the cities and happily made a stop. The taproom surpassed my expectations! Lots of seating available - leather sofas, high tops, games galore, build your own 6 pack seltzers, pizzas and snack foods on menu, large beer menu (shout out to the beermosa). This is the type of place where you want to take your friends and just chill for hours. It's such a inviting atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. My only regret is that it's not closer to the cities - please consider opening a taproom in Minneapolis! read more

Medium bitterness, wheat bread flavors and aroma medium, and low citrus notes.  Yellow Jacket IPA: An Imperial IPA hopped up with fresh Centennial from a local hop grower. Low lemon, medium-high bitterness, and clean fermentation profile. Enjoyed this one the most! mYbock: A refreshing Maibock with more flavor and bitterness than a traditional German lager (aka Bock style). Slightly hoppier, slightly bitter, and some apple / orange flavor.  Just Kveik'n Around: A light bodied lager brewed with Kveik yeast. Stopped by after running errands and while the parking lot in the back took a moment to figure out, the indoor ambience was cool! Love the mix of both a rustic and industrial ambience. Also, the bartender was chill and helpful. It's a really relaxed place to hang out! I had the special smoked porter which I was really excited to try; it was a good, middle of the road porter. However. didn't quite get the smoky bbq flavor that I was hoping for. Popped in yesterday. Built a flight w assistance of friendly beertender Lindsey. I went w Miss Agatha, No Big Dill, Happy Porter & Yellow Jacket Imperial IPA. Beers were delicious, I didn't care for Yellow Jacket....but that was a me thing & not a bad beer!! I'm still trying to find my niche w IPA's, this wan't piny & bitter it just... I don't know.... something hoppy so it was a good beer, just not for my palate. The digs were comfy, spread out. I was the only one sitting @ the bar so it gave me a chance to chat up the beertender, Lindsey, who was lovely. I will definitely stop back in whenever I find myself in town again. I stopped by here last night with my wife for some afternoon drinks. Although not the highest rated brewery in Rochester via Yelp I was intrigued by everyone's comments on the games and the cool space and so we headed on over. The inside of Kinney Creek is definitely what I would call cool. They have blue string lights hanging from the ceiling and large games of both Jenga and connect four. Some of their tables are complete tree living edge (think circular living edge) and some of their beer rails are apparently reclaimed metal from the metrodome. Last but certainly not least they have the largest growler collection I have ever seen! They have them on shelves and it wraps around the inside of the building and is even two high in some spots. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight here and chose the 5 choice option. At only $10 the price was certainly right. For my 5 beers I went with Round town brown, Name that session IPA, Lord Nectar (IPA), Yellow Jacket Imperial IPA and a Docks End IPA. Out of the bunch I think that the Yellow Jacket was my favorite but that is not necessarily saying too much. Most of the beers here I felt were weird and I didn't exactly care for. The brown was very hoppy while the session IPA was very bitter, not in a good IPA way. Meanwhile the Lord Nectar tasted bubblegummy to me and finished very harshly while the docks end actually had too much hops. As a hops and IPA lover it's tough to actually say that but there can be a point where enough is enough. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't come back here again in the future. While I expected a beer or two to be a bit off based upon previous Yelp reviews, I certainly wasn't ready for 4 of the 5 not being what I thought the style should taste like. read more

This is one of the most beautiful breweries I've had the chance to be in. I love the space and the way that it is designed. They have games around the room, the most beautiful wood tables I've ever seen, I love all of the growlers that decorate the top of the walls, and the small details in the bar that make this place stand out to me. I went there on a weekday afternoon and there weren't very many people inside. The bartender was helpful and let me know about some of the different beers. The Porter I decided upon was absolutely delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't come down this way super often and next time I do I will be sure to stop back and have another beer and hopefully play one of the games around the bar. read more

Don't let first impressions fool you, this place has some really good beer. We stopped through on our Rochester brewery day and at first I wanted to turn around and walk out. Everyone kind of stopped what they were doing and turned around to see who walked in kind of place. We were greeted pretty quickly by the lone bar tender/server and she was super friendly and answered our questions about the different beers. Everyone ordered and she had them out in no time. I went with a 5 beer flight and everyone was really tasty, I especially enjoyed the English Brown and the Sunny Days IPA, by far the best local beers out of our 5 stops. They have a bunch of games to play like Hammerschlagen, giant Jenga, a big connect 4, Foosball and some other board games....However, I felt like we were getting some looks from other patrons when we were getting too noisy. There are some opportunities to polish the place up a little and get some food options. Overall though, the beer is really good so if you don't like the atmosphere it's totally worth getting a growler or couple of cans. read more

My wife and I were in Rochester for my sister's wedding and we had an hour before we had to get ready. I asked my wife, "Can we check out the Rochester Tap Room?" I came across this brewery by chance when I went next door to shop at the Asian market beside it. As soon as I walked in, I was wowed by the spaciousness, cleanliness, and the overall good vibe of this brewery. It was really not what I was expecting to see judging by the appearance of the outside. I got a warm welcome by the awesome owner, Donovan, who was nice enough to let me sample some brews before I ordered a flight. $10 for a flight of five. Good deal! Sadly though, I wasn't super impressed with the beers I chose. I do believe that they make some pretty good ones though, but maybe I was just there on a day when the brews on tap wasn't to my liking. Nonetheless, I had a great time sitting at the bar and chatting with a couple of really nice locals and Donovan. No food is served here, but you are welcomed to bring in your own or have something delivered. They have some games for everyone to play, like the huge Jenga and Connect Four that I saw. Can you imagine?Jenga must be fun to play after a few. Woohoo! Despite the choices of beer I had, I would definitely like to go back and check out some of their other brews someday. read more

My wife and I checked out Kinney Creek Brewery last summer when we were in Rochester. It was a quick bike ride away from our Airbnb so we gave it a try. The inside seemed to be loud, not in the sense of noisy, just that there was a lot happening even in a sparse crowd. The interior seemed to be highly decorated, had big monitors behind the bar, and a large projector running to the side. We grabbed our beers and headed out to the patio. The patio also seemed to be full of a little of everything. Unfortunately, they were never able to create a barrier, or the feeling of a barrier, between the blacktop patio and the blacktop busy street. The beers were pretty good though. read more

We were staying near Rochester recently and saw that they had a brewery there. According to family microbrews in this part of the Midwest is still an emerging phenomenon but is gaining momentum. There is not a brewery on every block like it seems the farther west you go. I hear Michigan is following suit with a high volume of breweries as well. But not here, not yet. Kinney Creek was a nice stop over. I got the Opener IPA which was not too bad. Steve had a beer that was similar to a Mexican Lager which was not too bad either. I liked the IPA better though. Steve then was reading on a beer that they had where they had apple in it. He went ahead and got it. It was very unique and enjoyable. It reminded me much of a stout but was categorized as a lighter beer. That was quite a tasty treat! read more

I really liked this brewery. It was super cute. We came on a Friday night and we were able to sit outside. There was live music. I have the Craftapped app and I was able to use that. I got the Strawberry Fields sour which was delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here I really liked it and will be back. read more

This is my favorite brewery in Rochester without a doubt. Servers are always friendly and you can tell that they love their jobs. I used to live right down the road so was there atleast twice a week. Right off the bat I have to say parking here can be confusing. They have a few spots right in front of the brewery but if you're not lucky enough to grab one make sure to read signs and ask the bartender before you stay too long. People have gotten towed for parking in the wrong spot. On my last visit they had 16 beers on tap. With the selection being rather large there is a good chance of finding something you like. Along with that you get a few hits and a few misses. I had one of their seasonal bock's and it was just alright. I did like the Yellow Jacket IPA I had on a previous visit. A 16 ounce beer will run you from $5-$7. Plenty of room in the taproom with games, and live music scheduled for your entertainment. Growlers and Crowlers are also available for your to-go needs. Kinney Creek is the only brewery based in Rochester. - They have a surprisingly large number of beers on tap, considering the size of the brewery. They are very creative in their offering of styles, making use of local ingredients.
