They have a really large selection of comics, games, pops* and cool things. I couldn't get an exclusive pop because they provide a small supply of that so all of them are getting down really fast. The price is OK.

This is not a shop that I have ever frequented before and will probably never frequent again, the main reason being I am not a geek / nerd / vampire slayer. Walking in to this 'comic' / 'geek fest' store lived up to every stereotype I had in my head. The guy at the counter ways playing with and creaming over a new Star Wars toy, no I am not making this up! I nearly walked out of the place there and then! It is not that I think I am cooler or that my interests are some what better than the ones catered too in this store, it is just that I don't 'get' the fascination and obsession that people have with sci-fi, fantasy, comics, etc, but then again I have never seen Star Wars, maybe I would like it if I don't have such a narrowed minded view on these things! But any ways, I am in this store to buy a Zombie gift for a geek I know! But this store doesn't have much in the ways of Zombie books or toys or games or stuff like that, but they do have a few comics. However, the staff were so nice and helpful and really went out of their way to help me, gave me a list of cool Zombie stuff to buy my friend, wrote it all down for me, plus the names of stores and websites I could buy them in and then told me they would order anything in for me that I couldn't find. This is the greatest service I have ever received anywhere. They genuinely wanted to help me! I felt so looked after. The store itself is well stocked and orderly and has a really cool vibe to it and now, well, I might be tempted to go back in, even if I don't have a gift to buy for a geek!

Nerdalert!! Its forbidden planet, named after the 1955 Leslie Nielsen movies, he's a fair age now. This comic warehouse was the original occupier of what is now Sam Sara, before Dawson street went all Ross O'Carroll Kelly. They've been down on the quays for years now. I went in here expecting it to be a bit sad really but its actually kinda entertaining, theres loads of toys infact, my personal favourite were the talking Chewie and Darth vader heads and who could resist Jack '24' Bauer shouting quotes from the tv series, all on handy keyring. Back when I was younger and embarrassingly nerdier, hard to believe I know, I was in here every weekend, I'll stop now before I incriminate myself further. Anyway the place is full of books, comics, sorry graphic novels, toys, signed merchandise, the aferomentioned toys. If your a trekkie, Dr who fan or god help you, that awful muck twilight then you'll be right at home here

web design variety, not the comic book and math rock school, but I can appreciate these things nevertheless. Comic books are cool, so people should stop pretending they're not. Especially people who don't like to read (those people scare me), because comic books are basically picture books for grownups, mostly with really cool drawings and sometimes they're kinda porny. What's not to like? Forbidden Planet will satisfy anyone in need of a comic fix, and delight perusers like myself as well. They also have tons of toys and model kits, which I had a hard time keeping my hands off of.

Forbidden Planet is a great spot for geeks and gamers. They have comics, video game memorabilia, and of course, Guy Fawkes masks.

The shop is narrow but packed and reasonably priced even in this age of internet shopping. Whether you've read all the Frank Miller stories out there or you've just heard of Alan Moore, this is not an off-putting nerd-paradise that you might expect. That may have something to do with the daylight streaming in the window.

Combine that with the fact that anime scares me, and you have the reason why I have never, ever been inside a comic book shop. But, I decided to be brave and check Sub-City out, for the sake of adventure and boredom. Now, having absolutely no knowledge of comics, going into a lion's den of this sort was extremely intimidating. I really didn't have much to look for or at, because I wasn't looking for anything and didn't know what I was looking at. But, the guy at the desk greeted me like he would any other comic book dork and I was enlivened. I perused the comics, marveled at the amazing artwork in some and checked out the models, which are probably a lot of fun to put together. The guy was tied up with another customer, but when they were done I knew he was going to come talk to me and I got all panicked. Lo and behold, he sauntered over and chippily said, "how's it going?" "I don't know what I'm doing, I'm just looking around. Huuyuuuh thanks!," I blubbered. He laughed and proceeded to say it was totally cool and to let him know if I needed help. He handled my dork meltdown well, which makes me think he probably deals with that a lot.

I was waiting to get lunch when I turned around to find this comic book store. Upstairs they have a lot of trade paperbacks and manga. But downstairs... That's where the treasure is. So many back issues. I was so frustrated that I didn't have more time and more space in my bag. I was worried about buying too much and having the books damaged in my bag on the plane. But I could have spent hours in that basement. What a store. The guy at the register was also very helpful and knowledgeable. If I ever come back to Dublin, I will make a point of returning to this store.

I then noticed a particular game which have been mulling over buying, Pandemic Legacy. Here they are selling it for 85 EUR. In a gaming shop around the corner it's 69 EUR. An Irish based gaming website is selling it for 60 EUR. It's madness pricing like this. If Gamers World wasn't around the corner and Sub City was priced more in line with online prices, I would shop here. Spend a little bit more to shop local. But 25 EUR more? Go way outta that. Needless to say Sub City was empty and Gamers World was jammers. It's presented well inside.
