Chris Ford is an excellent attorney. He listened and understood the facts of my case, and informed me on the various possible outcomes. I never felt "left in the dark" as to what was going on in my case, or that he had a case load too big to handle my specific needs. I believe the most helpful skill Chris possesses is superior legal writing skills. He prepared thoughtful, thorough and reasonable responses to the opposing party. The opposition he created in response to a motion to modify custody, demonstrated how well he understood my case. He helped me defend myself against a plethora of erroneous accusations, by writing the facts in such a way that the judge understood why these claims should not be taken seriously. My coparent has a history of lying, manipulating and controlling behavior which was finally seen by the court. My coparent would say or do anything to win, even if it meant hurting our child in the process. I was relieved the judge reviewed the evidence provided, my statements, and arguments to understand the "full picture". The entire court process was lengthy. It lasted from mid 2016 to early 2018, although, this was not due to Chris' actions. The opposing party would not comply to court orders, and delayed the outcome of the case whenever possible. It was a frustrating experience, but I was relieved when the judge final said the "fishing expedition was over". Every step of the way Chris eased my stress with keeping me informed. He is professional, ethical, and intellectually very bright. Trust me, I know from experience, these are not attributes to be taken for granted. Not all attorneys care about the clients they represent, spend the mental energy it takes to understand the case, or even have legal writing skills required to make compelling arguments. The last time my coparent pursued a modification of custody, I made a grave error. I thought that since I am good parent, and had done nothing to lose joint custody, that almost any attorney I chose would create the same result. After all, this was the 4th time a case was brought to court with baseless accusations. I jumped through all the hoops to disprove everything I could that was thrown at me from a drug test, to my daughter getting evaluated by a psychologist, to printing text communications that demonstrated my coparents lack of communication. You name it. What I learned the hard way, is that it doesn't always matter what the facts really are. Sometimes it matters more which attorney makes the stronger argument and the optics of the situation. Presenting yourself in such a way the judge likes you or at least doesn't not like you (goes for the attorney and client), formulating strong rebuttals to false accusations, strategies attorneys take including how they use the courts time, meeting disclosure and filing deadlines, and understanding how to boost their client up when the opposing party has mischaracterized evidence and who you are as a person. I didn't hire Chris this last time and everything possible went wrong from the start. Had I hired him, or found a way to afford him I know that the most recent case would have gone drastically differently. He would have responded to the motion with a thoughtful, professional, and thorough opposition. He would have submitted the evidence I gave him that was most helpful to the case on time. He would have known the history of cases with my coparent. He would have redirected questions in a way that any misunderstanding or clarifications that were needed would have been resolved quickly. He would not have allowed misheard statements to make it within the record as facts. He would have presented himself well in court, and I really don't think he would have gotten bulldozed the way my attorney and I were in this last case. I made a terrible decision based on financial cost, but what I didn't realize is that the financial cost means nothing compared to the cost of losing time with your child. I would do anything to take this decision back and just come up with the money to prevent this heart wrenching outcome that has hurt my child, her sister, my family and me. Excellent representation comes at a financial price, and sometimes a steep one for a superior attorney with the qualities needed to fight complex cases, but consider what the price is for losing time with your child, and what the outcome could mean to your bond with your child. After spending over a year being represented by Chris as the defendant back in 2016, I hoped I would never need an attorney again. When my coparent filed a motion to modify custody a third time in 2022, I went with a lower priced attorney. I thought that since I am a good parent and had done nothing that I was accused of, that I shouldn't have any concerns I would lose my parental rights. This is quite possibly the biggest mistake of my life. I did lose custody. What Chris did for me in the past case, I thought most attorneys were capable of. I was wrong. After sifting through every communication, filing, opposition etc Chris provided in the previous case, I realized just how thorough, knowledgeable and skilled Chris was. I feel a bit guilty that I didn't appreciate him more than I did back then. I suppose I just lacked perspective since legal matter were new to me. Unfortunately, I had already paid my latest attorney before realizing she lacked strategy, skills, knowledge, or tact. She had a huge case load, and did most things "on the fly". She didn't file ANYTHING on time, and her trial prep consisted of telling me to get enough sleep. This was not helpful, when I knew we were going to trial without a single disclosure or witness on the list in time. She failed me, and most importantly she failed my daughter. After this absolutely horrible experience, I have had time to reflect on the attorney I once had, who went through the process correctly and timely. Chris explained everything in a way where I never felt left "in the dark" on what was happening in my case. I always received a response and it didn't take 1-2 weeks like my latest attorney. Chris and his office kept me updated. I was never left waiting and wondering for days on end for a response. When Chris filed an opposition or response to something, he was thorough and encompassed everything that needed to be communicated. Some may think that "of course my attorney will understand the facts of my case and file evidence on time". Let me tell you, not all attorneys take the time or even care about the clients they represent. Some just take a lot of money up front, and don't even begin to work on the case for months (from my experience, these are "bundled" attorneys, that have little incentive to actually work on the case once month is received) . Chris took the time to understand the case/accusations against me and addressed each one within the first opposition. Throughout the year and a half Chris represented me, he demonstrated professionalism, excellent legal writing skills, and compassion. I thought the expense to hire Chris again would be too great for me. What I didn't consider is the risk of losing custody if poorly represented, and the cost to my daughter, my family and to me. Gambling in a casino is one thing. Don't gamble on your child's happiness, well-being and the relationship you get to have with them by choosing the wrong attorney. Trust me on this one. read more

I hired Mr. Matthew Friedman to handle my divorce case. Mr. Friedman charged me to have his retained subconsultant (property appraiser) revise and redistribute the property appraisal, which contained numerous errors. I was not consulted nor was I a part of Mr. Freidman selecting this subconsultant. Friedman constantly missed deadlines imposed by the court and then charges me to "fix" the problems he created. In a conference call, Friedman asks me my opinion, then shuts me off and begins to tell HIS story. I ask him if he wants to hear my opinion or if he wants to dictate my opinion. He takes offense. Mr. Friedman is late to a court hearing by 45 minutes. I continually have to ask for correspondence from Plaintiff's attorney, as I know I am not receiving information, or if I do receive, it is 30-days late, and then I have to respond within 48 hours or less. Plaintiff's attorney files notice to compel me to produce documents, because Friedman is again late as required and/or agreed upon deadlines. Then again, Friedman, creates paperwork, and charges me to "fix" his non-responsiveness. I show up to court at appointed time, after confirming date and time, and Friedman is a no show. I send email to Friedman and he had continued court date WITHOUT telling me. I begin to notice that when I receive emails from Plaintiff's attorney, which have been forwarded to me, that the "date and time stamp" has been removed. This concerns me immensely. I receive an email from Plaintiff, stating that she sent Mr. Friedman a deed for me to sign and return. I never receive notice of such from Mr. Friedman. I have to obtain deed from Plaintiff, sign and return to plaintiff, bypassing Mr. Friedman, as I truly do not trust him. Mr. Friedman double bills me, the evidence is on his invoices, same action item, just on different pages. read more

1. Attorney Matt Friedman did not keep us informed as required by the "Rules of Professional Conduct". Matt Friedman did things without our permission or knowledge, did not provide a signed Order, drafts for our review, responses to our questions, etc. (In case, Matt tries to say my financer is not his client, he consulted with her, allowed her to attend every meeting, phone call, submit documents and emails on my behalf, offer her opinion because my financer paid every bill!!) 2. EVIDENCE: In a video deposition, Matt Friedman negotiated away $25,000 of the $40,000 plus paid in attorney fees without our knowledge or permission!! Matt never gave us a copy of the video deposition or admitted that he waived $25,000 even when we asked why no fee reimbursement? Matt responded: "She will never agree to it " when he should have told us: " I told her she didn't have to pay $25,000 in attorney fees." (Matt billed us for the video deposition we never received.) Over a year later, we ordered the video deposition from the deposition company. We discovered Matt's wrong-doing. 3. EVIDENCE: Matt omitted the unknown, unapproved $25,000 attorney fee waiver in the Order and signed it without permission, rushed the Order to the judge, did not give a draft when giving the opposition several drafts, where we could have corrected things. Matt held the signed Order "hostage" and demanded $5,700 first. Payment was always made AFTER receiving documents/orders and our account was paid timely. Why the change? We got the Order from the opposition where it appeared as thought the opposition controlled the negotiations. Matt immediately sent her the signed Order but not to us, his clients! 4. We spent 4 stressful years (6 now) as the victimized family, wasted over $40,000 for this unnecessary prolonged litigation custody case against an abusive parent to save 3 kids, only to see justice subverted once again. Matt refused to respond to emails asking why things were changed without our permission and knowledge including why attorney fee reimbursement wasn't included in the Order. His response was to send us another bill plus interest. 5. We refused to pay the $5,700 to Matt Friedman because he didn't answer emails and didn't give a copy of the Order or Deposition. Matt's response was to put an "Attorneys Lien" on one of us for non-payment of the $5,700 and adding interest each month without sending us monthly invoices. 6. We requested Matt's Malpractice Insurance information TWICE (certified/return receipt requested) to try to file a claim which Matt ignored. 7. After TWO complaints to the Nevada State Bar were dismissed due to "not enough evidence", it seems as though the Bar does not want to consider evidence of the Video Deposition and the Order. It seems the only "EVIDENCE" acceptable to the Nevada State Bar would be Matt's admission of wrong-doing. Avoid ANY attorney who does not follow the "Rules of Professional Conduct" in Nevada by keeping the client informed. There is no recourse in Nevada thru the Nevada State Bar Association. You may submit complaints about corrupt attorneys and corrupt judges to the national "Family Civil Liberties Union". You can also view this case "Kester Matter" (6 hearings on YouTube) see how many questionable things you notice on the 11/21/2019 from fraud to a judge giving excuses for the opposition's attorney to reduce child support. Australia abolished their Family Court System last year. I hope America is next. We do not think Matt will respond to this complaint or try to make things right by refunding the $25,000 in attorney fees, removing the lien and terminating the balance of any charges and interest currently accruing, but we want everyone to be aware of who they hire so they don't waste their money and time (6 years now) like we did. read more

I was referred by a friend in town to Matt Friedman who appeared to be a great choice and retained him Wednesday evening. I decided to retain a less expensive lawyer early this morning (Friday) and asked for a refund of my retainer ($7500). The firm charged me $800 in 1 day with $680 of it to "review entirety of case history and client documents to prepare for client affidavit on 5/31". It was only 4 simple court pages I personally filed for child custody and they charged 1.7 hours at $400 per hour= $680??! And what case history?
