I paid a "flat" rate for my child custody case then they found ways to add a couple thousands for depositions where john just sat beside me to doodle on his blank paper. Then once the status check was extended by the judge, john kelleher dropped my case so when i went back to court the judge didn't listen to a thing i said because i had no representation. They took my money and left me. Nathan is completely terrible i cried. he allowed the other party to say whatever and because he was not fully aware of what was going on in my case he could not defend me properly. 10/10 would not recommend. To put the cherry on top, I asked the paralegal Noah, the one who prepared my whole case I asked him what do I have to do moving forward to get better results he said I have to pay a new retainer fee before he can answer any questions good luck and goodbye this was before the status check so im still supposed to be represented but no. That's what you do to somebody that has not spent thousands of dollars in your office. They pushed me off like I was nothing and didn't even finish my case with me. They took my money and they left me. I regret paying this office a dime, they didn't take my child custody case seriously resulting in me not getting good results in the end; i now have to pay a seperate attorney and start again. A complete waste of money and energy dealing with this office. High emotions are involved when it pertains to family cases yes, what makes these negative reviews are personal experiences with individuals at this office. I paid for a consult with Kelleher's office. Because of Covid, consults are done remotely. I have no issues with that. On the day of my consult, I spoke with attorney Nathan Gibbs over the phone. I originally thought I would be speaking to Mr. John Kelleher himself directly. However, Nathan Gibbs was very personable over the phone and answered my immediate concerns regarding my custody case, so I had no complaints regarding my consult, or the fee. After the consult, I decided to Google Nathan Gibbs. Nathan Gibbs was NOT a well reviewed attorney online. His reviews were poor, and the only good review I found lacked detail... which led me to wonder if it was authentic or not. So I became concerned about my custody case being transferred within the firm to him. I called Mr. Kellehers officers the very next day, to pay a retainer fee, and express my concerns. Jodi, the receptionist, answered my call. I started the call off by saying, that although Nathan Gibbs was wonderful over the phone call and answered my questions/concerns... I did not originally intend to consult with, or retain him personally. Before, I could say anything else... Jodi became very defensive with me. She spoke loudly and combatively over me, and told me SHE took my consult appointment and that I was KNOWINGLY booked for a consult with Mr. Gibbs. I tried to tell her that I don't recall her saying that during booking, but that it didn't matter, cause I had no issues with my consultation. However, going forward, I wanted to retain Mr. John Kelleher, and be represented in court only by Mr. John Kelleher. She didn't hear any of that though, I don't think. Because she was quite concerned with defending herself unnecessarily, pointing the finger at me, and repeatedly telling me I "knew who I was booked with because SHE booked it." She kept saying that over and over. After, realizing I couldn't get a word in edgewise to explain.... (maybe she thought I was attempting to request a refund?? I wasn't. But she wouldn't know that... because she kept speaking over me defensively) I asked to please speak with someone else in the office, because she was being unnecessarily rude. Again, she was defensive, curt and had very poor customer service. She denied my request and curtly told me she would "take a message." Her offer seemed less than genuine... so I asked if I could please be transferred to either John Kelleher or her managers voicemail instead. Again, she denied my request and combatively told me she was going to hang up on me in THREE SECONDS. As if I was arguing with her??? Our conversation was pretty short.... and for what reason, i don't know, we rubbed each other the wrong way. So a solution to that, would be to transfer me to someone else in the office. Someone that had better communication skills, to say the least. As a business owner myself, your front desk and reception is the face of your company. They need to represent you with courtesy and professionalism. Jodi was NOT that. In fact, I had to take my business elsewhere despite the personal recommendation I got for John Kelleher. When dealing with high stress, high emotional cases like CUSTODY... the last thing you want to encounter is an emotional, rude, unprofessional front desk receptionist. And for no reason! I was calling to make my retainer payment, after paying for and receiving my consultation. I simply wanted to confirm who would be representing me going forward, before making my payment. Sadly, I never got a chance to say that with Jodi as the receptionist. I do not recommend retaining a firm that would allow that within their office. Because it is a direct reflection of how you would be handled, as a client, if there were ever a situation (God forbid) that was unfavorable. You would not be treated with kindness or even basic courtesy. Which is the bare minimum to expect from any law firm. read more

I felt like all they were concerned about was coming up with ways to bill me and provided very little guidance or communication. We had to request a new attorney within the firm after Mr. Richards showed up to our first court hearing and said, "Sorry, I'm not prepared." It's really weird seeing all these one star reviews. My experience was nothing like what I'm reading. They were amazing to me. This review is 5 years overdue. Essential I had a case going on in CA and the respondent was trying to drown me financially so filed a motion here knowing I didn't have the money for hire an attorney and respond. I had enough for a retainer and went and met with them. When they heard what was going on and how I was being stalked by the firm the respondent had hired and just saw all the proof and what had been filed they only took my retainer and never charged me another dime. Saira Haseebullah represented me and I believe John himself helped her with some of the responses to the other party. I was so scared that I'd lose in Nevada because I literally had nothing to pay them. They did their job as if I was someone who was paying them a lot when all I had given them was $2500. I know my bill was probably over $12K at least. They were even awarded attorneys fees and they still never asked me for a dime after that retainer. Because of their compassion, and support and they way they advocated for me in court I won. Dear John T. Kelleher, Esq. I'm sending you this e-mail because of the fact that you have failed to communicate with me directly about my concerns about the Invoice #26001 dated, February 26, 2020. Instead you sent my stepdaughter Sheena C Anzora an e-mail claiming that I told your office manager Cheryl Anderson wasn't going to pay the outstanding balance of $318.86, that is a blatant lie. I stated that I had questions about the charges on 1/22/2020, 1/27/2020 & 2/10/2020 and that I want to talk to you about it, but no you decided to send an e-mail to Sheena and putting her under more emotional duress. You are either a coward or a man with no guts! You as an Attorney have the responsibility to deal with me directly since I'm the one who is providing the finances for your representation is the CASE NO.: D-19-593412-C Robert vs. Sheena Anzora. Your failure to communicate with me is a violation of the oath that you took when you became an Attorney. On or about 1/22/2020 you or Jessica Humphries instructed Saira Haseebullah to attend the Hearing involving the CASE NO.: D-19-593412-C. She was inadequately prepared to move forward with the case. This is evident by her actions when the Judge asked her a question, as she had to turn and ask Sheena for an answer. Therefore the fee of $630.00 is not justifiable because of the lack of adequate representation. Moving on to 1/2/2020 & 2/10/2020 concerning the total fee of $1,400.00. I find this to be somewhat excessive due the fact that I do not believe that it took someone 4 hours to begin drafting a motion & to draft/revise motion, gather and prepare Exhibits; e-mail client for more documentation and review. The reason I don't believe it took that amount of time is because I represented myself in a Court Case in January and I drafted 3 motions in less than 2 hours. When the Judge reviewed said motions he was quite impressed and stated that I should have been an Attorney. Oh by the way the motions that I submitted were on point and the cases that I quoted was correct with a result in my favor. Furthermore when I spoke to Jessica Humphries on 1/22/2020 @ 3:43 p.m. for 16 minutes 22 seconds about what had what occurred during the Hearing she told me that she didn't understand why the Judge made the Temporary Order and that she shouldn't of made it. So with that being said if a more knowledgeable Attorney was representing Sheena at that time one could have presented reasonable rebuttal. In concluding I have reached out to you and tried to come to reasonable settlement. Whereas you have not made any effort to come to, a reasonable settlement. But instead you stated in your e-mail to Sheena, that at this time we are not able to continue on your case and will be filing a motion to withdraw. No one has asked your firm to finance Sheena's litigation. Therefore if I don't receive a call from you by the end of the business day today 3/4/2020 to resolve this matter you leave me no alternative but to file a dispute with State Bar of Nevada Fee Dispute Arbitration program. I will also be filing a complaint with the State Bar of Nevada Office of Bar Counsel against you Saira Haseebullah and Jessica Humphries for inadequate representation. Once the State Bar of Nevada Fee Dispute Arbitration program rules in our favor and the State Bar of Nevada Office of Bar Counsel sanctions you and said parties. I shall file civil lawsuit in Sheena Anzora's behalf in an unspecified amount for the extreme emotional duress that you have caused her. read more

I was on the receiving end of a divorce from someone who I thought I knew but apparently not. Two days after the announcement, I am faced with her attorney even after suggesting mediation. I had no experience in family law and really didn't know who to turn to but was advised by several people that I had no choice but to get my own attorney. John was the second attorney I visited as the first one seemed very aggressive and I felt she would have made my life very messy and very expensive. I went to John in 11th hour after exhausting all options and I am very glad I did. Right away I could feel a sense of fairness in the way he spoke and he struck a wonderful balance of fairness and fight. One must understand that these folks do this every day and your case, however special it is to you, is one of many on their list. We would all like to feel that we are the only important case in our attorneys day but they have a lot of cases. The point being is that you hired a specialist in something you know very little about and in a time when you are emotionally weak. We reconciled from the first go round but after a year decided that divorce was actually the best thing for both of us and this time we decided to use mediation now that we were both thinking a bit more clearly. John had carried my retainer all of that time and before mediation, I went for a consultation to understand where to give and where not to. Going into mediation, I felt empowered by the no-bullshit information he had given me and armed with that, I felt effective and knew where to draw the line. It came in handy as my X wanted a lot more than what John had clearly stated the court would award so I threw down and told my X in mediation that I stood a better chance in court and she stood less chance in court if it were to go there now. I could do this because of what John had told me and I am happy to say that armed with that knowledge, I successfully mediated a settlement, stayed out of court and now feel like I got a settlement that I could live with. I went back to John after the settlement to have a post conversation and he said that I had done a great job and the settlement was indeed fair. We spoke about our personal lives and what the future holds and I left the office with a sense of accomplishment in something that I knew very little about. I also left with a refund on my retainer while my X was being hounded by her attorney for another 1000.00 over hers. The legal system and divorce is a complex game and it is best to understand that going in. You have to take the emotion out of it and I know that is very difficult but once you do, you really get a sense of how good or bad your attorney is. If you feel the world is crashing around you (very common), you always feel like you should be the center of attention and this is the wrong way to think. Attorneys are experts in law - not emotional counselling and it's no different than a surgeon or even a car mechanic. The legal outcome of a divorce will be the same whether you understand that or not. The old saying that the only people who win in divorce are the attorneys and I believe that is still true. There is nothing good about a divorce, especially a contested one but if you have to go through it, you deserve the best legal representation you can find, coupled with a sense of empowerment and that is exactly what I received from John and his team. The most difficult part of this process for me was gathering up all of the documents and filling out all of the paperwork necessary to go to trial. I was always the worker bee while my X handled all of these types of things and now I was thrust into it and really didn't understand all of the things I had to gather. I still had to work and also deal with emotional state but I made it through and gathered the required info for John and team to do their job. Once that was done, I had to trust them. Could the system be better? Absolutely it can and I feel that there is no empathy for the people who are going through the divorce anywhere down the line. At your weakest emotional point, you are faced with the most complex of personal challenges. It honestly felt like I was diagnosed with a terminal illness to be honest. That cannot be treated by your attorney but what he can and should do is provide you with a legal "treatment" to make it out the other side - no different than a doctor really. So the best thing to have is someone with a balance of fairness and to help you set the limits of what you would do and what you wouldn't. John has so much history behind him that he can clearly tell you based on the situation what you can expect and that was the most powerful part for me. He also handled everything with grace and understanding and that was also appreciated. We will remain friends and I remember telling him in the end that I felt a loss that we would not be doing business together anymore. He got me through a very tough time in my life. read more

I left the firm in the middle of my divorce, big mistake. They were working on my case but I was frustrated that they weren't submitting a lot documents and etc. Its because they do not file things that aren't need in your case(I wish I knew this before). Another words, they do the work that in necessary keeping the clients bill reasonable fair. They do not do discovery that isn't needed and rack up a clients bill for nothing. I wish I would have stayed with this firm. Kelleher does not let another attorney push him into settling for something that in not fair for his clients.
