Benches at the dog park but the bag dispenser is always empty. Bring your own!

It's been awhile since they've closed the humane society dog park, but this is now my go-to park. Things I like about it: 1. There are 3 benches in each side - the big dog side and the small (under 35 lbs) side. 2. There is a tree over one of the benches in the small dog side. 3. There is usually a breeze so there are less bugs eating you alive (disadvantage of Hawaii Kai park is the bugs...). 4. More grassy so you/your dog don't get totally muddy (disadvantage of the Mililani park...) 5. Great sunset views 6. Restricted access 7. People that go to this park are usually watching their dog & responsible for the dog's actions. Note: bring your own bags and pickup after yourself! There usually isn't any bags in the dispenser and I don't think there is any normal cleaning crew. If they hire someone, keep in mind that this is a government facility and it is supported by tax-payer dollars. Again... PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF!

    Nice view from the park

Nice dog park with lots of room to run for the big dogs! Great view, very breezy (keeps away the bugs, yay!) Only downsides: bag holders are empty so bring a few from home! & water fountains don't work so be sure you bring some for your pups

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

First off, we don't own a dog or any pets but, that didn't stop us from noticing this Dog Park in…read moreour Kaka'ako neighborhood. We took notice of its soft opening on January 31, 2020, as we were just next door at the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park while out on our daily walk. We returned on February 7th to watch its Grand Opening ceremony. Secondly, I wondered about how this off-leash dog park would accommodate different sized dogs and energy levels (much like how the Mother Waldron Park separates children's' activities from the older junior ages and adults) since this dog park is nearly 8,000 square foot swath of land in between Mother Waldron Park's basketball courts and the walkway by Fisher Hawaii on Pohukaina Street. The rectangular-shaped dog park doesn't have a water fountain or separate areas for small or large dogs. Although there are signs posted with rules for the safety of your furry friend or family member and owner and hours of operation along the chain link fence entrance. There should be poop bags available so dog owners should make sure to pick up after their dog. If there's none, I would think that most responsible dog owners carry spare plastic bags. I hope to see more dogs and their human parents spending more time outdoors even during these difficult COVID times. Social distancing between humans is encouraged and maybe even between the furry friends (just in case of possible animal transmission). Maybe we'll see you there as we pass by or stop to vicariously enjoy watching the dogs frolic in this park.
