This dog park is a VERY spacious gated area welcome to all dogs, large and small. There is a lovely view of Koko Head and the beach nearby. Free parking lot with lots of spaces, and benches under shaded areas. Poop bags, water, and tennis balls are available. I personally haven't had/seen any issues with dogs/owners. Owners here are more attentive than other parks I've been to. Just watch where you walk because there may be some poop, attracting a lot of flies as well. When visiting, just be mindful, watch your dog, and they will have a great time :)

The big dog area is huge with lots of running around. Both areas have a few benches for the humans to sit and it has trees for shade, plus bowls for water and a water faucet available. They also provide poop bags and there is PLENTY of parking. When we go there with our 2 small dogs , a papillon and Min Pin, we start off in the small dog area ( which is never busy) and they always look over at the big dog park ,with a look that says "we can handle them Mom". LOL So we always end up in the bigger area and they are in doggy heaven! Everyone is always nice and watch their dogs. Now in the outside areas and parking lot are hundreds of feral cats, but they're harmless and it looks like people feed them. Costco and Roy's restaurant is across the street to do your food run and a happy hour drink(not in that order ;) )before heading home. This is one of the best dog parks on the island!

It feels like it's dirty or dangerous. Nope! Not this park. Actually, MAYBE!! It's not a place I'd be at night tho. I didn't see too much lighting in the area. And it's in the back of homes and apartments on a side street. Not like it's on or on the side of a MAIN ROAD or anything. So, YEAH... I wouldn't say this place is TOTALLY COMPLETELY SAFE! NO! Just saying that it's a place where you can hang out with a bu ch of friends or family and not be bothered by the traffic in the roads or people coming out of the woodworks watching your event. Oh PARKING IS A B!+[#!! Because it's in a cup de sac road, and NO private parking lot, parking is limited. And the street parking is already taken by the people who lives in the area. So, if there's no parking INSIDE the CUL DE SAC, you'll have to find parking ON THE ROAD or park at the shopping center, and walk your butt down. It's not too far of a walk, but it is a distance. Quarter mile perhaps. Think I may try to hold a birthday party here. But, I don't know if we can pop up tents. Oh! And there's a playground for the kids too! A jungle gym! And YES... there is restrooms. But it looks kind of small. Smaller than MOST PARK RESTROOMS. I didn't check it out, so I don't know how much stalls there is. I'm guessing 2 stalls minimum. 2 toilets for girls & 1 urinal stall & 1 toilet for boys. If I do come back here... I'll repost with mire details. "Thanks for your time & "YIBIDIP, YIBIDIP... ( He's been very needy and jealous lately since my son was born a few months ago). After being here once, I want to make it a regular thing. It was so awesome to see our dog being able to socialize with other dogs and have so much fun. Thre park is fairly big, very well taken care of, and even has a doggy water fountain for our fur babies. The one annoying thing is the flies! But what really can be done about that? I know there is a fern that will keep flies away. Maybe if there was some we could plant around the doggy park, it might help? Especially around the benches where the humans sit to wait... All in all, a really great place for our fur babies, and I look forward to returning again and again.

Technically this is a "private park" for Ohana of the Military communities. But I dont think its really enforced. There is NO private parking lot, parking is street parking. There is a rubbish can. Also if you live off base and drive on with your pup keep in mind Hawaii has supposedly added a law which requires your pet to be in a seat belt while in a vehicle (per the gate guards information). He said they don't enforce it yet but to keep it in mind for the future.

They have outdoor tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a nice grassy field for little league baseball games and practices. Like all facilities while still under pandemic restrictions, be sure to follow the protocols in effect at the time of your visit. The views from the upper part of the park on 20th Ave. are quite nice, especially during sunrise. During normal in-school class days, most of the street between the school and the park is closed. On the mauka side there is access to a couple of parking stalls for your use when using the park. An interesting side note is that the park's rec. bldg. next to the children's playground equipment area used to be an open pavillion that was one of the coolest places to sit. The tradewinds would roll through with a sweet breeze as you sat and kicked back to daydream during the lazy days of summer.

Petrie Community Park is not overly big, but it has a little of something for everyone (for all ages). Petrie park has several basketball courts, tennis courts, a volleyball court, a jungle gym for the kiddies, and a large field for kids to play soccer, baseball, as well as football. There are also several benches & picnic tables on the park premises, should you wanna eat there, or watch the kiddies. In my recent visits here, I could clearly see that the field could use some water, as the grass was pretty brown & dried up...........but of course summer is just around the corner, so I guess maybe the city is trying to save water? There is also a office pavilion, as well as a restroom at Petrie park, but be careful if you come here at night, as I saw some sketchy element hanging & loitering around the restroom area. There is no private parking lot for this park, but not to fret as there is a lot of street parking within the Kaimuki neighborhood. Through the years, not much has changed at this park since I used to hang here as a kid, but glad to see folks still bring kids here to enjoy this nice community park.

We were there today with 4 dogs trying to practice obedience training and there was several loose dogs playing ball while 1 dog was off leash with no collar and was running up towards our dogs. This dog looked like a pit mix and came up to my dog and almost seemed like a fight was going to start. Human nature made me yell at the owner since we were distant apart and he couldn't get his dog back. Please be responsible people! 1. Don't let your dog loose with no collar 2. Take your dogs to run at a dog park 3. It's the law to have a leash on your dog out in the public except when you go to offleash designated dog parks 4. When your dog is offleash in an area not designated, any damage to human/dog, owner of dog that caused bite will be held liable!!!
