So much to do here I'll just ramble off a list of what you can find here: walking and biking the miles of paths, tennis courts, grassy areas for solitude, a reflection park with landscaping and stone benches arranged in an oval, barbecue and picnic areas with built in stand up grills, picnic benches and a few covered large areas for entertaining large groups with nearby running water from a hand pump (check park website for availability but I believe it's first come first served for the covered picnic areas), TONS of parking all around the park for easy access, babbling brooks, cute bridges, a really nice man made pond with an island and best yet, BATHROOMS all over!

The park has two sides, and it was pretty busy when I went in the evening but still spacious. There were lots of families and tons of kids enjoying the playground and people walking the loop. The loop for walking and running is well-maintained and, I believe, about 1 mile long. The park also has seating areas, a gazebo, restrooms, and ample parking. I noticed people playing cricket, baseball, and football, different fields available and there's even a small creek nearby.

I would get a raft and float with it tied to the beach to enjoy the outside. Plenty of parking both street and lot. The benches are not the most comfortable, metal and thin. But they have holes for umbrellas if you want to do a lunch, or enjoy book club outdoors. The skyline isn't much but sunsets can make even the most industrial of places appealing. there are bathrooms but I've heard they're never open and I saw a porta potty the last time I was there. I think there's an official 'park' someone who either checks safety or fishing permits, I'm not sure. Down the block you have Moby Dicks, a small park with outdoor fitness, bikes to rent, and a new concert area for live music. Nice breeze and good place to just relax.

Sometimes the best date nights don't require anything fancy, just good company, fresh air, and a chance to slow down. The park is beautiful, clean, and incredibly well maintained. There are plenty of paved walking trails, wide open green spaces, and lots of room to relax, whether you're taking a stroll, having a picnic, or just enjoying the scenery. It's easy to see why so many people come here to walk, bike, run, and spend time with family and friends.

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

Rule of thumb for the spray ground - if the blue and white umbrella is up and open, they're open. Two attendants work at the spray ground daily. Spray ground water is always consistently running - and kids are not fighting over water. (To conserve twp water, water is not running unless patrons/attendees are present) -Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel! -Bring clothes to play at the park after water play! The Middlesex greenway is the perfect spot to walk because you aren't directly in the sun and it is nicely shaded by the trees. The trail is 3.5 miles so you can definitely get a good walk in. At the entrance to the Middlesex greenway there is plenty of parking which is great.

Thomas Edison Park has its own parking lot (which has a lot of potholes), but if you're here to use one of the 16 tennis courts, parking in one of the MCC lots and walking through the chain-link fence gate is quicker. From dawn to dusk on weekdays, the gate leading to Rartian Center is open, which allows office employees to take walks in the park during lunchtime. The baseball, softball, and soccer fields are popular with locals on the weekends, as evidenced by the contents of nearby trash cans. The asphalt walkways are popular with the cheeky Canadian geese, who seem to enjoy deliberately defecating where people walk rather than on the grass. Metal benches and bleachers are strewn throughout the park, along with some wooden picnic tables by the parking lot. Interestingly, this park is the only one in Middlesex County designated as a "Model Airplane Field". Since the wide, open, unobstructed fields here lend themselves to being very windy, this park is also a good place to fly kites.
