Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.

Blown away with this experience, made an appointment on a Friday for preventative care/annual exam…read more(as other obgyns in the area are many months out scheduling new patients), was seen on a Monday. I came in early expecting to wait. I was brought back in a couple short minutes, before my appointment time came! This is an actual miracle in healthcare these days. The staff was professional, warm and helpful. I felt comfortable, safe and cared for in this office. It's a small thing but the patient exam rooms were very warm and comfortable. I sincerely wish all access to medical care was this easy! They were actually recommended in my insurance portal as a tier 1 in network provider. I won't hesitate to return.

If I could give them ten stars I would. I needed emergency contraception and during my…read more(last-minute) telehealth visit at noon they said they'd try to squeeze me in so I wouldn't have to drive two and a half hours away for the nearest and soonest appointment I could make, in a couple of days. Ten minutes later they called me back and said they had a cancellation, and asked if I could be there at 2. When I got there, I was petrified but everyone was so kind and gentle and helpful. Once I got in the exam room I couldn't stop crying and everybody was understanding and kind about it. The midwife who placed my IUD did it really quickly and clearly had a lot of experience. She told me everything she was going to do before she did it and asked for consent, which I always appreciate in a medical environment. She made me feel comfortable, and even though it inherently wasn't a great experience, every single person in this office made it manageable and I came away with positive feelings about my experience at Planned Parenthood, despite the circumstances. For anyone else wondering, they even said that I could bring my kids if I needed to (they just needed to be in a stroller during the procedure). I didn't end up needing to, but I appreciated that they would accommodate that without question. This is my third experience with Planned Parenthood (two different offices) and all three have been stellar.

I've been in therapy with Maine Spine & Nerve since December. I was in constant pain, and unable to…read moresit or perform normal activities when I first sought care. I thought my only option for relief was surgery of which I had heard dire results. I read about decompression therapy and was relieved to see that there was an alternative to surgery. The doctor's at Maine Spine & Nerve took a thorough physical and oral examination including x-rays. The diagnosis indicated that I was a candidate for decompression therapy. At no time did they guarantee a cure, but given my condition, they had seen others with similar injuries who had relief and returned to normal daily activities after decompression therapy. They did indicate verbally and in writing that I was also responsible for working within their care guidelines in order to maximize the recovery efforts. Today, I am out of pain, able to sit comfortably, returning to a light exercise routine, and starting physical therapy. In closing, I am so thankful that I went this route instead of surgery. Thank you, Dr. Van Ploeg, Dr. Mueller and staff.

He did spinal injections which did not last more than a month. after NSSD the tingling and pain in his right leg and thigh is gone and has been gone for at least six months. He can do things now that he was unable to perform last spring. I have multiple problems. My first concern was neuropathy and I sought relief through Maine Spine & Nerve. From the get-go, Dr. Vander Ploeg informed me that he could help but because I'd suffered for so many years with this condition, I could expect only partial relief. He said a 40-50% reduction in symptoms and I feel that I achieved at least 60% if not more relief. I also suffer from back pain. I have been referred to orthopedic physicians for injections and physical therapists for physical therapy. I went to an acupuncturist. Nothing helped. Because of the success my husband has experienced, I know that Maine Spine & Nerve will be able to reduce my current pain. Further, some insurances do cover the cost of these treatments. Unfortunately, ours was not one of them. Would I recommend Maine Spine & Nerve to any of my friends? You bet! I already have. You couldn't ask for or find a more friendly, congenial and caring environment. Thank you Dr. V, Dr. Meuller and staff. Elsie and Harold Cebulla

I never think to leave reviews for urgent cares/ERs/doctors, but after an extremely disappointing…read moreexperience elsewhere recently I thought I'd leave some love for this walk-in care clinic. A few years back I was getting sinus infections all of the time. When you know you have one, you know. Before I knew about the joys of telemedicine (it's so convenient to just tell someone over the phone your symptoms, the color of your phlegm, and exactly what antibiotic you need to get through the extreme discomfort of a sinus infection; which, if you've never had one, feels like your face is being kicked in), I came here. The wait time was what I thought it would be: around an hour or so. It was relatively quiet when I came, the waiting room was clean, and the interactions with each staff member was nice. I was brought to a bed where a doctor saw me almost immediately. I explained to him that I got sinus infections a lot and I believed I was on the verge of getting one, but really wanted to take care of it ASAP, since I was getting ready to do a bunch of international travel. He took a flashlight, held it against my cheeks, and said, "Yep, you definitely do." (Apparently this is called the transillumination test: the sinuses are supposed to appear hollow and have a reddish glow; if infected it appears opaque and the light doesn't shine through). He was friendly, funny, gentle, patient, and made me feel seen and heard. Now that I can use telemedicine through my employer, I'll probably just keep doing that. BUT if they were to suggest I needed to see someone and my PCP wasn't available, I think - for the Greater Portland area - this is where I'd come back to!
