I have had a horrible infection that would not go away. Neither my primary care nor urgent care doctors could treat it, so it was vital I get in to a dermatologist. Apparently, there is a major shortage of dermatologists in the area, because I could not get an appointment with anyone in a 50 mile radius, despite calling at least 20 clinics and doctors. I was near tears when I called the Peninsula Skin clinic with Dr. Rasmussen, and found out that they, like everyone else, have a long waiting list. Melissa at the front desk must have heard the desperation in my voice, because she worked with me to find a solution and a time to come in. After my calling all those clinics, she was the first person who showed some concern and empathy. This caring attitude was present with all the staff during my appointment. The person who actually treated me was a Physician's assistant, Bill Bies. He understood that I needed prompt treatment to address all possible issues, along with taking samples and setting up a follow up appointment. After struggling with this infection for so long, it was a relief to find competent and professional care combined with empathy.

The nature of the surgery required that I make special arrangements at home and at work to allow for recovery post-surgery. My partner took the day off work to be available to drive me home post-surgery. Everything was in place at home and at work to allow me to take time off of my usual duties for at least 7 days, in order to recover from surgery. The morning of my appointment, I drove the hour-and-a-half to the Silverdale location. While in transit, about 40 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I heard a phone call and later a txt message come through my cell phone. When I arrived at the Silverdale office, I checked my phone and learned that my surgery appointment was being canceled and that they wanted to send me to a different clinic because they were not confident in their abilities to perform this surgery. Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone performing a surgery they are not qualified to handle but after all the preparations I went through and driving an hour and a half from the hinterlands of the Olympic Peninsula, only to be turned away the same morning. Extremely unprofessional behavior. I will be taking any further dermatology concerns to other businesses. I have a litany of other, smaller complaints about Clear Choice in general (overbooked and overworked staff, lousy call center interactions, AI receptionist) but this one was the clincher.
