This experience has been exhausting from start to finish: Dr's office sent in a referral, missed their initial phone call to schedule an appointment. Called the office back, found out that all off their calls are routed to a call center. Spoke with the customer service person who said, " I see someone reached out to you but I can't find your referral, did your doctor send it?" To which I replied, " Yes, I am certain they sent it. Otherwise, how would anyone know to call me for an appointment." After 20 minutes of them trying to reach someone at the office, we were able to schedule an appointment. Day of appointment was the only good part. Dr. Artz was amazing and the only reason this review has stars. Had biopsies done, was informed results should be back in two weeks. 3 weeks later I called because I had not heard from anyone. Call center answered, transfered to office, had to leave message. Two days later, same thing. Repeat until week 4. CSR tells me the results are not back, someone will need to call the lab and find out what is going on. Week 5, results are in but need an appointment to go over the results. Earliest appointment, week 6. Show up to excision appointment, no issues minus huge piece of my back missing. Stitches come out in two weeks. Waiting for sample to be biopsied. No call back, 3 weeks out again. CSR "It appears that your results are in your patient portal, I can't get a hold of the office to have someone to talk with you." Called back two more times over 6 days, left messages, radio science. Getto read a documented medical terminology laden documentation of how potentially hazardous cells may or may not have been outside the excision area. 2 weeks 3 days later, 11:30pm take out stitches and the wound partially opens back up. Not bleeding, no emergency, try and call on call. After hours CSR, takes all my contact info, finds me in the system, I will contact the on-call Dr to call you back..... 2:30am, CSR, " we have been trying to find someone to call you, but no one is answering. Do you need someone to call you still or do you want the office to follow ul in the morning?" "I have secured it with steri-strips, please have someone call me tomorrow. Entire day came and went, still have not heard back 7 days later. Canceled my body checkup, wrote this review so hopefully no one else will be stuck in limbo. Healthcare is about caring for your patient's health. Our power as patients is to go where the care is because they are in business, we are in need. Finding a new office. read more

I have been going to this office for years and had procedures done such as spot removal as well as a removal of a "fatty mass". Each time I schedule my appointments months ahead of time. I just learned that my 3rd physician with Forefront has left the practice and I am now again considered a "new patient". This time it is a 4 month wait. This is also the only medical office that I have had to wait no less than 30 minutes to be seen even once I arrive early, the crazy part is that there is usually only 1-3 other patients in the waiting room. I most certainly agree with all of the other negative reviews, nothing seems to change and I will not wait any longer to be seen for basal cell removal. Maybe they make more money this way, putting off seeing clients so that they can perform a Mohs procedure rather than a simply biopsy. Fun fact, I phoned my old dermatologist and they are seeing me first thing tomorrow morning; I guess I'll just drive the extra miles rather than be seen by someone closer with less experience. read more

They are next to impossible to contact. Some unidentified person from their office keeps leaving me messages...SOMETHING about an upcoming appointment, and when I call back to ask WHAT IS THIS ABOUT, the receptionist, who is obviously in a call center in a foreign country, keeps transferring me back to some medical assistant, and you NEVER get anything but her voice mail. Then some unidentified person will call me again.... They do not have a way to contact someone through the patient portal. I plan to just cancel the dang appointment, I'm so disgusted. Is there a "negative stars" rating? Also, I agree that Adam always rushes through my skin cancer checks, even though I HAVE HAD SKIN CANCER IN THE PAST. You'd think they'd be more careful. Skin cancer warning. Wanted to share my experience as I'm very upset and disappointed. I have a history of melanoma. 6 years in the clear but now hyper vigilant on early skin detection and changes. For several years was happy with Forefront dermatology until the doctor I had left the practice 2 years ago. During my annual skin check with the newly assigned dermatologist, I brought up a spot I had concerns on. The male physician dismissed it and said the "spot was fine". I reminded him of my history and felt concerned on the spot and would like it tested. He disagreed and assured me it was fine. Fast forward another 6 months and again came back to Forefront dermatology. I brought up my concern again on the same spot. I mentioned that during using skin self tanner the edges of the spot do not look right to me and could we please test the spot to be safe. For the second time my concerns were dismissed. I reminded the physician again of my skin history and how important it is to me to be proactive. My concerns for the second time were dismissed. At this point I wanted a second opinion. Went to another dermatologist in the area. The physician on my very first visit heard my concerns. With my medical history and risk she also felt it was a good idea to test the spot. Fast forward to my test results. The spot was indeed worth concern! It came back as precancerous Aptoic keratosis. Which left untreated turns to skin cancer. Thankfully I'm getting it treated and caught in time. I'm so angry my numerous concerns with Forefront dermatology were dismissed. Skin cancer can be deadly but VERY treatable when caught early. Their sole purpose to treat skin conditions they would not listen to their patient. Be careful going to Forefront with their current physicians. They used to be very good but those doctors have since left their practice. read more

Better show up a good half hour before your appointment, as there will be a line of other patients. The PA, Adam Gomoll that saw me in August was abrupt and dismissive of my concerns, and seemed like he was in more of a hurry than necessary. He then prescribed me an antibiotic that I am allergic to, so I did not fill it - but they never got back to the pharmacy to consider an alternative. I gave them one last chance this Fall, and Adam came in and shook my hand without washing his, and then touched my face WITHOUT WASHING his hands. It freaked me out - and as a former microbiology lab worker with a repressed immune system, it was a poor patient choice. I brought up something he had dismissed from the August appointment, and he was very rude about not having enough time for me - and again, telling me I was late instead of acknowledging that the line I had to wait in was the primary cause (after doing 15 minutes of online paperwork for them online earlier in the day, which they should already have had in my file from August). I walked out of my appointment in the Fall (I have NEVER done that before), asked for a refund, and will NEVER go back. I saw my primary care doctor that is NOT in this practice, and she confirmed that my concern was valid and I was indeed misdiagnosed/dismissed. If you want to be treated as if you are an idiot and have all paperwork overload, waste your time here. The front office staff is nice, and I felt sorry for the student assistant, but the rest of the actual service providers' behavior after you pay for your appointment is ATROCIOUS. read more

If you have private/employer sponsored insurance and can see Dr. Vanacker then you're probably fine. They always treated me well and left me feeling satisfied with the service I received. This is a completely different story if you have Medicaid. Dr. VanAcker doesn't accept Medicaid so when I lost my job I had to see different providers at that office I was treated very differently. I was met with rudeness and a coldness that made me incredibly uncomfortable. I was made to feel like they thought I was lying regarding spots they took off and mislabeled in their notes at a previous appointment. They can't get Medicaid patients in as quickly as when I was with my employers insurance. They also seem to have significant billing issues when it comes to billing Medicaid because they had trouble with it both for my son's appointment and my own. It is a WELL known fact that providers are not allowed to bill Medicaid beneficiaries but they try to do it to get more money out of the patient. Now that I am back with my employers insurance I will NOT be using Forefront. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. Their refusal to submit a pre-authorization form for insurance purposes was surprising. What was more surprising was they they had never intended to fill one out. I only found that out when I called a week later to follow up on the status of the form. It was only then that they told me they'd never had to do that before and they use this pharmacy... The providers seemed kind and knowledgeable, but both times we've been here we were u man able to fill the prescriptions they sent. The first prescription required pre-authorization from my insurance company, which they neglected to obtain. When I called Forefront to ask for an alternative prescription, it took the over two weeks to finally respond and get us a medication. In the meantime my daughters rash was getting worse and worse and causing her significant pain. At our visit this week, they wrote the prescription, for an incredibly common and basic med, for 15 TUBES, rather than one 15 mL tube. That was two days ago, and at this time I cannot get anyone to answer the phone or return my call to get the error corrected. My daughter's rash is worse by the day. The receptionist team and team lead nurse were very kind, welcoming, and organized. Sadly my appointment with Sara Wilchowski was very disappointing. When asked additional information about the condition, she became offended and indicated that she has 10 years of experience and that I am happy to get a second opinion. I simply asked as an African American patient the effects it would have on the texture of my hair. She was very short, rude, and did not appear to want to provide care to patients of diverse backgrounds. I would not recommend scheduling an appointment with this provider. read more

Waited three weeks to get a response from my doctors referral to Dr Eric. Arrived three minutes late and the door was locked even though the office was open for another hour I called and the answering service (time stamped three minutes after my appointment time and they said I would be on hold for 20 minutes. I finally left a message on another line. Got a call from the office 30 minutes later saying Dr Eric in Lansing requires them to lock the doer if a patient is late. I took off work, drove 20 minutes, waited 15 minutes outside the door, and '30 minutes to get a response . This doctor and company are disrespectful. If the doctor has a late policy of 3 minutes then leave your door open and kindly tell me that. I might at least understand that, Dr Eric in East Lansing and this company made me wait weeks to call me back, weeks for an appointment. And a train sits on the road for ten minutes making me 3 minutes late. I feel glad I did not trust this unprofessional company with my healthcare. read more

What I thought was going to be a simple surgery turned into a 7 hour horrifically painful process. My face was dripping blood in my ear for hours. I continued to bleed into my ear and back but they did not clean things and left me a bloody mess, They reopened all stitches 3 times and culterized my skin every time to stop the bleeding, which did not help to stop the bleeding. I am scarred for life and will never ever go back. I honestly would never recommend anyone to go there. read more

If I could I would give a negative stars. At the first visit they said I had skin cancer on my nose and scheduled an appt to have it removed with basically no discussion. I made a follow-up to talk to the surgeon to talk in depth and he said the scar would be negligible and reassured me it needed to be removed but there would be no huge scar. On the day I went in to get it removed the nurse took me back and prepared me, the Dr came in and during the whole procedure never said a single word to me! At one point he said to the nurse that he was going to have to do a flat instead but again not a word to me. He finished and left. The nurse advised me to wait while they did the tissue. Check then she came in to tell me they got all of it and info on wound care. No one mentioned to me that he had to cut a huge portion so I have a huge scar. If I could give this place 0 stars, I definitely would. I have been to many dermatologists and this was probably one of the worst experiences. The nurse who saw me first was rude and seemed annoyed at every exchange. Then, I saw Sara Wilchowski and she was completely condescending, rude, and unprofessional in her bedside manner. She refused to listen to my question or provide actual responses for the ones I was able to ask, wouldn't provide a rationale for her approach (which was that she wasn't going to prescribe anything that my previous dermatologists had used), and she was annoyed when I tried to get more of an understanding about why she wouldn't use the forms of treatment I had used in the past. When she left the room, the nurse continued to be rude to me and when I asked a question about the pharmacy description she handed me, she talked to me in an exaggerated slowed speech to be extra condescending. Our worst healthcare experience ever! Appointments and medical records are staffed in another state and difficult to get information from and no follow through. They didn't communicate well with the local office. Local office staff it rude and they rush you in and out. The PA was arrogant, aloof and lacked empathy. Oh my gosh, where do I begin? I came in as a fairly young patient, so maybe that was the excuse the staff used to treat me poorly.
