As a small local coin dealer, I often need to buy foreign coins to get the entire lot I wanted from a customer. Even in a city the size of Charlotte, there's no place to exchange them. I contacted FCCE with some questions and the owner responded - a good sign! I sent about $300 in Canadian coins, partially sorted. Stay away from this business! My currency package arrived at FCC's Georgia warehouse weeks ago (via USPS tracking info). When I didn't receive payment, I reached out via email and was told my package arrived "busted" and the coins were missing. I packaged it in a container, wrapped, in double layer bouble wrap in a padded envelope so I was surprised that the package was so damaged that the materials fell out in transit. I asked for a photo of the damaged package so I could utilize the insurance I purchased but was told there were no photos and the package was already thrown away. 1) Business does not send out payment until I contacted them after several weeks. 2) Business claims the package was 'busted' but offers no evidence to support this to help sellers utilize shipping insurance. 3) Businesses's response seems to blame me for mailing a small amount of currency. 4) Business lies about contacting me via phone or email. I've used this company's mail-in foreign currency exchange service twice now, I was very cautious about it because, of course, when you put cash in the mail there's no proof of what you sent, but I can confidently say this is a legitimate service and it's very useful for certain situations. I got foreign currency from my bank recently for a trip, as banks tend to give you the best rate, but when I got back they wouldn't re-exchange the currency I had leftover because it was less than $100 usd. I found this service online but was suspicious, so first I sent just some coins from several previous trips totaling about $10. I figured it was no great loss if I never got my payment. I got that money sent to my paypal within a few days, so I decided to send in my bills as well. I received payment to my paypal for the bills as well, about 4 days after I mailed them in. Bear in mind that this company isn't necessarily going to give you the most competitive exchange rate, but the exchange kiosks at the airport don't either. Even banks don't give you the true "market rate," and unlike banks, this company accepts small amounts, various currencies at once, and even coins, so it's really useful if you have leftover currency lying around like I did. Bear in mind also that if you request paypal as your payment method, paypal charges a small fee, so my total received was slightly less than the quoted exchange in both cases, but that's PayPal's fault. All of that said, I'd strongly recommend mailing your money with tracking, not just in an envelope with a stamp. It costs a few dollars but it'll allow you to be sure your package arrives. read more

I tried this service out with some leftover bills from a trip to Nepal. I went in sort of expecting some sort of issue, but it was for a small amount. But issues are what occurred. The owner responded to my initial status request saying he did not receive anything yet but was looking fwd to it since he had another customer going to Nepal shortly. Which outside that chance occurrence, had me wondering why that would matter considering this was for roughly $35. Instead of getting the current exchange with this service, what I got was the feeling of being gaslit by his response when initially inquired about the status of this exchange. I guess things can always get lost in the mail, but sort of funny this is my first occurrence of such an event. Even more so with this being in the same city. Do not recommend. read more

Update: I may have not been pleased to start out with but I wanted to revisit this review and update it. This shop was very efficient at answering my "upset ness" and explaining how the money evened out. I would use his service again as long as he'd have me as a customer. Was pleased to have my money, unfortunately my cruise never took place because of COVID-19 so I am returning to him to exchange for me. It looks as if the conversion rate is really poor though :( shucks :( oh well. Some money is better than none I guess! Thanks! I have used FCCE in the past multiple times and have been pleased with my experience (fast payment and ease of the process). My reason for the low rating has to do with Chase at FCCE not honoring the rate that was locked in at the time of me processing my order (101 of Zimbabwe notes). I have evidence showing that the rate remained the same for multiple days, but Chase/FCCE still refused to honor the rate. I expect a business to honor the rate when they promised they would honor the rate at the time of order submission. read more

Do not send your money to them! They're scammers. You're better off keeping your money or exchanging it somewhere else. The way they answer the phone is very unprofessional. We found an envelope of old yen in my mother-in-laws stuff after she passed. Our local bank exchanged most, but the rest were exchanged by Foreign Currency and Coin Exchange. What a service! We received our Zelle transfer 1/2 a day after they received our package. Incredible. Thanks for turning this useless paper into $118! read more

I can't believe that I held on to my leftover travel currency for so long. I didn't have an enormous amount, just enough to create clutter and that bit of stress over what to do with it. FCCE's process is easy to use, and it's kind of fun identifying all of the coins and notes and learning a bit along the way. The bottom line is that it's easy and quick. The confirmation of receipt email came promptly as did the check. I will definitely use them in the future. read more

Excellent and expedient service. I had leftover Serbian currency, which no banks or retail FX institutions would accept, and FCCE accepted it at (all things considered) decent rates. The team answered emails quickly and accurately. This wouldn't be my first choice to exchange e.g. Euros, but I would totally trust them to exchange anything a bank won't take. read more
