At first glance we kind of wrote this place off as being old, but it really is a hidden gem! The grounds are kept up very beautifully with all sorts of flowers and plants and garden decor, and the whole complex is surrounded by tall trees that make it feel like you've left the city and are now living in the woods. There is a little creek that runs through the complex, and every apartment has a view of the creek, so there's not a bad unit anywhere. It's very quiet and peaceful, and you can't really see any other buildings outside of the complex. I really love that we can let our cat outside without worrying that she'll be hit by a car, because with all the bushes and trees she has no need to go anywhere else.
We moved in in May 2012, and have been living here happily ever since. The apartment was very clean when we moved in, no smells or stains or anything. There was a welcoming note and a bottle of champagne in the fridge when we arrived, which is a perfect example of how thoughtful and friendly the managers Gigi and Brian are. We only had a couple of things that needed fixing, (closet door wouldn't shut, and a tile needed to be sealed in the bathtub) and they were fixed either the same day or the next day by Brian, the onsite manager. (And he actually knows how to fix things, unlike our previous landlord who was only trying to save himself money and didn't know how to do home repair).
Every unit has a washer and dryer, and a nice greenhouse window where you can put plants and nick-nacks. There's a sliding glass door that leads to a COVERED balcony (entirely covered, i've hung blankets on the railing and they are don't get wet at all when it rains) that overlooks the creek running by. There's a wood-burning fireplace in every unit, that's actually easy to use once you know how to open the flu (make sure you ask Brian or Gigi how to do that come winter time). The bathroom has nice glass shower doors, (no need for a staticy shower curtain), and is lined with imported Italian tile. The complex also features a community room with a hot tub. You can use the hot tub any time, and you can rent the community room if you want to have a big party. There's also a new fire pit and gazebo that they just built outside, perfect for barbecuing and such. The managers even throw a party around the time of every major holiday to which all residents are invited for free food and drinks.
Up to two pets are allowed per unit with NO pet rent (yay!), and they also provide garbage, recycling, water, and sewer services ALL INCLUDED in your rent. Prices may change by the time you read this review, but we get all that in a one bedroom apartment for under $1000. Probably the best deal you'll find anywhere. AND every year you stay there, they reduce your rent by 1% every year up to 5 years. Charles Cosse, the guy who designed and built the properties, seems like a guy who really knows what good residents are looking for in an apartment, good value, good amenities, and good neighbors, (never had problems with the neighbors, btw. They do a good job of screening for stable and reliable renters, and everyone who smokes seems to do it outside, so i'm pretty sure you'll never get an apartment that smells like smoke). read more
