My husband and I are moving to another state and we will miss Green Lake Point... a lot.
Location:
Green Lake is a pretty and safe neighborhood. It has a family vibe. It is more residential than commercial. It is a few blocks away form 99 and I-5 freeways. It is two block away from Green Lake Park. The park is a complete recreational area. It has a community center, soccer/baseball fields, tennis/basketball courts, swimming pool, theater, kids playing area. It is a popular place, and iconic. People love to wals/jog/run/rollerblade/bike around the lake; there is a 2.8 mi paved track. Around the lake you can find restaurants (japanese, italian, american, green, mexican), coffee/ice cream shops, yoga studios, gyms, grocery stores, drug stores. Everything is pretty much walking distance. You can also ride your bike. If you take the bus or drive your car many other stores and businesses are close by, I would say 10 - 15 minutes away. Even downtown! (w/o traffic of course). This neighborhood is the perfect combo of residential/commercial area. You are not isolated, and at the same time you don't have to deal with the chaos downtown.
Building:
Almost new! It was built 2009. It is a smart building, meaning that it is well insulated, safes energy, and doesn't pollute that much. It has two garages, covered with gate and uncovered without gate. The gate on the covered garage opens automatically around 9am and closes around 9 pm. If its closed you have a control. You have to pay for your space. Or you can park on the street. On busy days it can be quite time consuming looking for a stop, but most likely you can find a spot. The main entrance can only be accessed with a code or with an electronic key. Other entrances can be accessed with a regular key. The garbage room door can be opened with your apartment key. The garbage service is good. The mail is left in the lobby; letter in you box and packages on the floor. There is a common area on the top of the building, it was chairs and it is a good place to go read and have lunch.
Apartment:
Our apartment is on the third floor. One bedroom, one bathroom with shower. Equipped with fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer. Carpet in bedroom, tile in bathroom, wood-like floor in living room and kitchen. Spacy balcony, perfect for bbq. Small closets. On/off heating system. Well insulated. Good light from outdoors. Our apartment is wheelchair friendly, meaning that door are wider, toilet shorter, chair in shower, and down the hallway there is an emergency call box. This apartment is perfect for two people. The kitchen has breakfast bar.
Landlords:
Professional, friendly, honest, fair, understanding. Always attended our needs, and replied to our emails quickly. If there is something they don't know, they will look it up just to answer your questions. They never denied anything. If we needed a new bulb, we had it. If we needed new curtains, they dot them. If something got clogged, they unclogged it. They are very respectful, and they always stay in touch with the residents to announce things.
Public Transport:
Two bus stops about three blocks away. Lines that take you south and north. very well connected.
We found Green Lake Pointe through Craigslist, and it was love at first site. Green Lake in general is a pricy neighborhood, but this place is worth it. read more
