I left a message on the Forest Electric website last evening and Gordon called me personally around 8:30am. Although he had already assigned his crews on others work projects today, when I explained the urgency of our need (and the fact that we are going on vacation tomorrow), Gordon came-out PERSONALLY within two hours to do expert troubleshooting and repair of our problem. Buyer beware! If I could give Forest Electric a minus one (-1), I would. The following are the egregious and factual sequence of events that occurred when hiring this company to perform electrical work in my home: - I unfortunately hired Forest Electric to conduct a thorough electrical safety inspection of my entire home. - Gordon, the owner of Forest Electric, and his crew never showed up on time. Their appearance was slovenly. One of them had on a do-rag, basketball shorts, a t-shirt, and gym shoes. One of his workers wore sweat pants and smoked in my yard without my permission. They tracked mud and dirt throughout my house because neither the owner nor any of his workers wore booties. - A couple of his workers asked to use my personal ladder and one of them asked to use my bathroom. A couple of them laid their tools on my brand-new washer and dryers and caused damage. - After the owner and his crew finished their so-called electrical inspection that I paid them handsomely to perform, I asked him specifically, "If I were to hire someone to come behind you to check your work, would they find any discrepancies?" He said, "No. They will not find any discrepancies." I asked him, "Are you sure?" He said, "I am absolutely sure." I took what he said at face value. - Every single repair was hand written with illegible words by the owner which took an hour to write after his so-called repairs were complete. I not only wasted every single cent that I gave him, but I also lost an entire hour that I cannot get back. - He was, unfortunately for me, scheduled to do more "repair work" for which he was paid in advance, the following week. Before his scheduled "repair work", I told him that after his repairs, it was discovered that several of my receptacles had an "open ground". Then he told me that he would check them out during his scheduled "repair" appointment. He later sent an email informing me that it was okay for receptacles to have an "open ground" in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)/National Fire Protection Association Code handbooks. I later discovered that having an "open ground" can potentially cause an electrical fire. - When the owner came to the scheduled appointment the following week, he tested all of the "open ground" receptacles and saw for himself that they all had an "open ground". While standing in my living room he argued with me. In addition, he falsely accused me of tampering with my own receptacles. After he insulted me, I kicked him out of my house and told him to never come back. As I was kicking him out of my house, I told him to pay me my money that I paid him in advance to conduct the second round of scheduled work. He told me, No! - Approximately, three minutes after I kicked him out of my house. I told him through the door for the second time to get off my property and never come back. He said, "So, you don't want your check?" Then he started to walk away from the door. I said, Put the check on my porch. He told me, no. I then threated to call the State of Virginia Electrical Board on him for conducting unethical business practices because he did not return my money that he owed for work that he did not complete. - The owner and his crew did not clean up after themselves. They left my house in disarray with dirt, debris, and pieces of electrical wiring throughout my entire house. Then they had the nerve to ask to use my broom to clean up their mess. - The owner gave me a bunch of excuses for his poor workmanship and tardiness. When I realized his poor workmanship, I immediately hired someone else to repair what he and his crew failed to fix. - Due to Forest Electric's gross negligence, and breach of contract, I am out of pocket several thousand dollars because I had to hire a more competent electrician to repair this company's mistakes. Hiring Forest Electric was a mistake that I certainly regret and will always regret making. read more

Forest Electric did an excellent job troubleshooting and correcting the electrical problems in my home. One of our circuits was pulling double what it should have and as a result a significant portion of our house was without power. Gordon Forest came in and took the time to properly identify the problems (as our house is over seventy years old with original wiring there were several) and correct them so that we would not have to deal with this issue again. In addition, he found two serious code violations that we weren't aware of and fixed those for us as well. Gordon, and his crewman David, were professional, dependable and charged a reasonable rate.
