Before my mother-in-law passed away, she was receiving hospice care in our home in Arizona. Knowing how overwhelming that day would be, I called Moser Funeral Home ahead of time to ensure every detail had been coordinated. She was to be transported by Neptune Society in Arizona for cremation before being buried beside her husband in Nebraska. I was assured everything had been taken care of. I was told that when she passed, all we needed to do was call Moser Funeral Home and they would coordinate everything. When she passed away, we did exactly that. Instead of taking over as promised, the funeral director, Michael, was unaware of the arrangements I had made. He immediately began asking for her Social Security number and Neptune Society's phone number--information I did not have readily available, since I had provided it earlier. While my fiancé was mourning the loss of his mother and her body was still lying in the next room, I was forced to search through paperwork and coordinate the very arrangements I had been promised would already be in place. was unaware Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. My mother-in-law's cremated remains were shipped from Arizona on June 24. We heard nothing from Moser Funeral Home. After waiting and wondering where she was, I finally called on July 5. Michael told me they had received her several days earlier, but that "the week just got away from him." These were not office supplies sitting on a shelf. These were my mother-in-law's cremated remains. That was the moment I requested that we no longer work with Michael. Unfortunately, transferring us to Brett did not improve our experience. Rather than acknowledging our concerns, he defended Michael's actions, shifted blame to Neptune Society, and offered no meaningful ownership or apology. Communication remained inconsistent. The only proactive communication we consistently received involved additional products and services for purchase, while important updates often required us to follow up ourselves. Brett assured us he would be handling her burial. Instead, the day before the service, we learned that he would be out of town and that our family would be working with someone else. Even communication about the gravesite came at the last minute. Throughout this entire process, it felt like we were managing Moser Funeral Home instead of Moser Funeral Home managing our family's needs. A funeral home's role is not simply to complete paperwork or sell products. It is to guide grieving families with professionalism, compassion, organization, and empathy. That was not our experience. We experienced broken promises, poor communication, defensiveness, a lack of accountability, and repeated failures to follow through. To then receive a bill for that level of service felt like a final insult. I sincerely hope Moser Funeral Home reflects on how profoundly poor communication and a lack of empathy affect grieving families. A funeral home has one opportunity to help people through one of the worst days of their lives. Our family will never get that opportunity back.

When there was a big loss in my family this fall, my sisters and I worked with Bill Cutler, Sr. to make the needed arrangements. He was patient, kind, sympathetic, and explained all of our options. The family chooses the details but they make sure it happens from prayer cards, to the program, catering, etc. We had our luncheon following the service there on the property so no one had to leave to drive somewhere else. A nice feature is that memorial services are broadcast livestream so family overseas were able to witness the service in real time. The link is live for 30 days. What I didn't know beforehand is that they offer grief support groups regularly with licensed professionals. It's a safe place to talk about your loved one and grief in an accepted place where other people get it.

While we held the funeral off-site at Prairie Gate Senior Living, we relied on Hoy-Kilnoski to livestream the service for family members who couldn't attend in person. We trusted their professional handling of this service. Instead, it was streamed over a weak cellular signal without checking for Wi-Fi (which was readily available at the facility) and without recording a backup video. The stream was virtually unwatchable, leaving family members unable to participate. I turned down offers from relatives who are video professionals because I trusted the business to handle it. A professional video setup was severely lacking. To make matters worse, I had to bring the issue to their attention myself, which resulted in a disingenuous apology. While their pricing was fair compared to local competitors, the lack of professionalism and poor execution during critical moments were deeply disappointing. I cannot recommend this facility.
