No longer in business in SCV. We wish that it was still here as it was awesome and Craig the trainer knew his stuff.

There's something for every fitness level and goal, so it's easy to stay motivated and keep workouts interesting. The coaches are knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping everyone succeed. They create a positive and supportive environment while making each class both challenging and fun. The atmosphere is another standout. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and respectful, making it a place you actually look forward to coming back to. If you're looking for a gym with excellent classes, amazing coaches, and a great community, I highly recommend this one.

I recently tried a few other gyms, and while they were okay, they just didn't compare to Afterburn. At first, the membership price might seem like a lot, but once you compare the pricing to other gyms and what's included with Afterburn it feels worth it. Keep an eye out because they do have specials for new clients often! ;) And if you know someone who already comes to Afterburn, you can do a "friend referral" that can help you both. ;) The trainers here are incredible. They push you to become stronger while also encouraging you every step of the way, literally! On the days when I want to give up, they're the ones reminding me that I can do hard things. As someone who started out overweight and out of shape, I can honestly say I've never once felt judged. The trainers create such a positive environment, and the members are just as welcoming and supportive. One thing I really appreciate is that the classes never feel overcrowded. Unlike other gyms where you're packed in like sardines, there's plenty of space to work out comfortably. What really makes Afterburn different is the community they've built. They don't just focus on workouts--they focus on their people. From holiday events and team challenges to themed workouts and brunch workouts, they create opportunities for everyone to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories. It feels like you can build friendships here. I also love the new sauna and cold plunge. I use them regularly, and they're always clean, well-maintained, and never overcrowded. If you're overweight or you're just trying to get back on track, don't let the financial fear hold you back. The trainers will help you build healthier habits without breaking your budget. I realized that by cutting back on fast food and making better choices, I was actually saving money--enough to help cover my membership. That's an investment that pays you back in your health. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend taking advantage of the 3-day trial. Walk through the doors, give it a chance, and see what it's all about. By the end of the year, you'll be glad you started. Afterburn won't change your life for you--but if you're willing to show up and let them help you, I truly believe they can help you build a stronger, healthier, and happier version of yourself. The hardest part is taking that first step.

Once I completed that, I wanted to maintain my cardio program, and joined the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center. I really like this place, for several reasons. I can actually get free memberships at several local gyms through my insurance, but I'd rather pay to go here. It's a more mature crowd, with most people either doing some sort of rehab or physical fitness. It's not a social club or hang out, everyone is serious about what they're doing. I don't have much experience in gyms, but from what I see, they have plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, crossfits, arm ergos, upright and reclining bikes) as well as weight stations with both plate weights and resistance. There are free weights as well and all kinds of support stuff like mats, stretch bands, etc. The place is spotless, with constant cleaning going on, and everyone seems to take the time to wipe their stations down after use. I don't use these areas, but they have beautiful locker rooms, showers, basketball courts and a pool that is half indoor/half outdoor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and available for personal training if you desire. They have tons of classes from spin to balance. Downstairs, there is an advanced weight training room. I go three times a week and always look forward to it. I highly recommend you check them out.

I unfortunately left and tried LA Fitness and after 3 days I canceled my membership and went back to Henry Mayo ! It is well worth every penny , especially the kids club! It's organized and clean although sometimes it's a little dusty. That's the worst thing I can say. But this is Santa Clarita and everyone knows it's dry and windy so it's going to be a little dusty from the door constantly being opened. My experience with staff has always been positive. My encounters with Joel (the manager for a few years now) and Riley, has always been positive. They are friendly and polite and they do a great job of keeping the gym in order. Being that this gym has a more upscale feel and is available to members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with limited staffing, members are expected to police themselves and follow the rules. It's not only ownership that expects this, but it's other members as well. That's why we pay more for membership here. If I wanted a messy gym where nobody cares, I'd go to LA fitness. Members are held accountable of they commit rules violations and some people don't like that. This isn't LA fitness or EOS where if you break a rule, nobody says anything (which is also one of the reasons I really like this place). If you don't want a problem with staff, follow the rules. Don't open the door for anyone who can't get in on their own, don't bring in guests (or your children) during unstaffed hours and return the equipment you use. It's common sense and courtesy. There are signs up with rule reminders around the gym and at the front door and everybody gets explained the security rules upon signing up. If you break the rules, you're probably going to get contacted by staff. Most members appreciate the attention to safety and enforcement of picking up when you're done. Others appear to get upset because they didn't like being told they violated a rule and come to yelp to complain. Don't judge this place based off a few negative reviews left by people who are upset they were contacted for rules violations or didn't know how to read the contract they signed. It's a great community, it's safe and has everything you need to get a great workout!

Date review placed June 25, 2026…read more The good planet fitness keeps their equipment, clean and restrooms clean. The bad here is a list. Maintain your equipment, lubricate all the adjustment pins on the equipment. You pull in a pin to adjust your equipment the pin will not retract due to no lubrication. Lubricate the linear bearings on all your Smith machines. Here we go again with the free teenager membership for the summer. Before these teens are allowed to work out, planet fitness should instruct these teens on what not to do. Don't use your cell phone in the weightlifting area. Don't put personal property on a piece of equipment and walk away and expect someone not to remove it. Don't huddle around a piece of equipment with your friends and talk for 5 to 10 minutes between sets. Don't spend five minutes between sets on your mobile phone, do your sets and move on. Adult gym members are guilty of this also. It's one of the most irritating things about Planet Fitness. All phone use should be done in the lobby at the front desk. I went in for a workout on June 23rd 2026 the gym was full of teenagers, talking, putting personal property on machines walking away expecting to save the machine for later. Doesn't fly with me. I remove the property and do my workout. But this is bound to cause a conflict. Your gym staff need to monitor the gym every 15 minutes shut down people on their phones. Tell the teens to move away from a piece of equipment if they're not using it. Planet Fitness has lost the ability to run their gym by their narrative and policies. Planet Fitness has let teenagers control the gym. If you agree with what I'm talking about, you're about to join the Planet Fitness wait until Planet Fitness has controlled of its own gym again.

However, I've now had two uncomfortable interactions with a front desk employee named Deborah that left me feeling frustrated, unwelcome, and honestly unsafe. The first interaction happened while I was on the treadmill. Deborah approached me and told me that "someone complained" because I didn't have headphones on while watching something on my phone. I completely understand the common courtesy of using headphones in the gym, which is why I purposely chose a treadmill with empty machines on both sides of me, kept the volume extremely low, and even had captions on. The gym music, conversations, treadmills, and equipment were all significantly louder than my phone. When I explained this, Deborah herself responded, "Oh I know, I can't even hear it and I'm standing right here." That immediately confused me, because if she couldn't hear it standing next to me, I didn't understand why it was being treated like a complaint issue. When I asked who complained, she said she didn't know. The only people near me were a few women talking loudly together, so the situation felt strange and unnecessary. What bothered me most was not the reminder itself, I understand policies and courtesy rules exist. What bothered me was the approach. It felt like she blamed an "anonymous member complaint" instead of simply asking me directly to put headphones on. I later told Deborah that I didn't appreciate being told a story that didn't make sense when she could have just communicated honestly and respectfully. The second interaction happened when my app wasn't working and I asked to check in using my phone number. As I was walking away, Deborah stopped me and repeatedly pushed me to take a photo for the account. I told her multiple times that I was not comfortable doing that, but she continued pushing and giving reasons that were not accurate. I explained that I've been coming here for months without issue and that my home gym already has my photo on file. She incorrectly insisted this location was my home gym, even after my app showed otherwise. Again, the issue is not that she wants to do her job thoroughly. The issue is the way she communicates and disregards boundaries after being told "no." Not everything needs to become confrontational or overexplained. There's a difference between being helpful and making members feel uncomfortable. These interactions have created a negative feeling every time I come in and see her working. I hope management addresses the importance of respectful communication and listening to member concerns and boundaries. If management would like to contact me directly, Deborah knows exactly who I am.

People have an experience. What goes along with that is the good and the bad of the particular…read moreadventure that we are on together. So never hesitate; if you've been wanting to join a gym for a while now, EOS is the place to be. Sign up now. There are pros and cons to everything, and this fitness center is no exception. Pros: Affordable--you have three different plans to choose from, the highest being around $30 a month with all the perks, including a sauna and ice bath. And the current basic plan (WILL DO) is roughly $13 a month. There is a one-time annual fee of around $60. Clean--for the most part. I haven't been in a gym bathroom that was totally up to my standards, but I'm just picky. EOS's baths are a step up from your popular gyms like 24 hr. Fitness. They have a nice spaced-out locker room with locks to rent. Vanity mirrors with blow dryers. I haven't been in the showers, but they look wide and clean. Same for the bathroom stalls and urinals. This has to be the biggest gym locker room I've been in so far! An added bonus is it doesn't smell like sweaty body odor either. Atmosphere--this one really depends on the area you're in (I guess...). I joined EOS in Valencia, CA, so the staff and people are very friendly. It's definitely a "safe-space" gym for someone who's new to working out around others. Yeah, you get the occasional grunts and weight drops with a loud bang (I'm guilty of this too), but overall there's always a cool vibe happening here. Cons: Machines break a lot--not sure if maintenance is as active in fixing the gym equipment as in other fitness centers I've belonged to in the past. It can get frustrating if you have a favorite treadmill you like walking on and find out it's broken down most of the time. Lack of space--this could be a location problem, so take it with a grain of salt, but EOS in Valencia at certain times (7-9pm) feels like you're exercising in a sardine can. The number of people is ridiculous, and wait times for even Barbells can be twenty minutes long. Lack of Equipment Volume--as it says, they only have a couple of major machines that help with body growth, like the hack squat machine and leg press. Again, I feel it's just a logostics problem. The lack of space in a small gym could be the problem. On the upside, these machines have shorter wait times and haven't broken down since I joined a few months ago. Conclusion Join EOS for around $84. That's their basic WILL DO plan ($13 per month); it gets you in the door and access to all their equipment.

The best part of the "new" EOS is that it's only a seven hour drive to the Scottsdale gym and your…read moremembership allows you to work out there as well. If I could describe the Valencia EOS, in three words, it would be "REPAIR IN PROGRESS". In fact, leave your weight belt at home and bring your tool belt instead. I've trained at EOS gyms throughout Arizona and they are always well maintained. When EOS purchased the Valencia Golds Gym I was initially excited. The Gold's Gym needed some serious upgrades and I thought EOS would get after it. Unfortunately, after all the Golds Gym signs were taken down, the maintenance crew jumped ship. The original weight machines from when the gym opened 14 years ago are falling apart. The only thing that's guaranteed to work is the merchant account debiting your bank account every month. The other day I walked by four treadmills before I found one that worked. There is one cable crossover machine that has been broken for nearly 6 months. It sits in the middle of the gym with an aging "Repair in Progress" sign. The sign should read "Rest in Peace". It's become the new gym mascot. I think we should give it a name and decorate it for the holidays, because management won't do anything about it. HMU if you guys want to start a GoFundMe account to get it fixed. Nicer gyms repair broken equipment immediately, but EOS lets them sit and rot. Meanwhile, the gym hosts never ending membership drives and it's undoubtedly working, because the gym is packed. EOS mailers pour out of my mailbox. I can't imagine how much they're spending on marketing, but sadly, there is nothing left in the budget for maintenance and upgrades. The only notable improvements I've seen are modern business signs on the exterior and pretty So Cal paintings on the walls. If you are an older or advanced trainer avoid this gym at all costs, unless of course you're going to one of the classes, I hear those are OK With the unrelenting crowds due to low membership fees, gym etiquette is marginal. With that said, imagine what wonders await you in the men's locker room. You'll have to skillfully navigate through hoards of skinny/fat dudes taking shirtless selfies. I've photo bombed several of them just walking by minding my own business. Sometimes you're treated to a guy blasting rap music out of his iPhone for everyone's listening pleasure. The adjacent bathrooms are always foul smelling. One morning, I had to walk through sewage water to wash my hands because of the never-ending drainage issues. You may want to throw your galoshes in the gym bag just in case. The sink / soap dispensers work infrequently and now one of the hand dryers has the ubiquitous "Repair in Progress" sign. Don't buy it, it's false advertising. There will be no repair, nor any progress; it's been broken for weeks. You'll have to lineup to dry your hands from here on out. After several years of membership at this location, I have decided to join another gym. A few of my friends have already left, and I will follow them. All things considered, EOS Valencia isn't that bad of a gym, it's worse.
