I've tested out a couple of other private pilate sessions as part of a gym (initial complimentary sessions) and so far none of the instructors have been able to match the instructors at AR Pilates. Chris and Chrissy have really cultivated a unique community here -- the studio itself is a zen space with plants & warm ambiance -- I'm immediately relaxed when I roll out my mat. After taking my first class, I was totally hooked. I was looking for something to add into my weight training split, and THIS is it! The variety of classes, from yoga, to barre movement (my absolute favorite, so challenging but the sculpting is incredible) pilates, and cycling...there's something for everyone. The instructors are ALL top notch -- warm, welcoming, and encouraging -- and every class is engaging and allows you to push your boundaries and get stronger. I have gained a lot of strength and lean muscle tone. It's difficult, but it actually works so I think it's worth it. I also like that it's super clean. I'm a germaphobe when it comes to the gym, so I appreciate that. Anyway, my favorite instructors are Jackie because she brings a lot of humor (which I find encouraging) and Corrie because I feel like I'm getting an intense but doable workout. I generally go two times a week and that has been enough to get noticeable results for me. It's one of two workouts that has ever significantly improved how I look. I have a defined waist now, which I thought I'd never achieve. My only feedback is I wish they had an unlimited class package.

I went to her after knee surgery because I was having trouble rehabbing my knee without aggravating some arthritis, and she has helped me strengthen in ways that don't cause any problems for me. She has the knowledge of a physical therapist and can help with all kinds of physical issues, but she can also kill you (in a good way) as a personal trainer--IF that's what you want. At 43, even as a prior serious athlete, I am stronger and more toned than ever. She is also fun to be around while she's working with you. The physical therapist for my knee had suggested Pilates to me but said, "Pilates is only as good as your instructor." Shari is THE BEST, so if you want to do this, go to her!

Kettlebells works your entire body and really works your core without you even realizing you are working your abs (and who doesn't want that? No crunches!). Very smart and knowledgable trainer. He'll teach you the whys and hows on how to lift safely to prevent injury and he'll work around your limitations when needed. I attend the evening semi-private group training classes. One class and I'm sore for 2-3 days, which means the workouts are effective! I only go 1-2 times per week, due to work schedule restraints, and I still get great results. Support a small business and try him out. Worth every penny. But it's important to remember, you get out of it what you put in, in and outside of the gym.

The gradual introduction to training has alleviated any fears I had about handling equipment and traditional weight training. The program's structure, with changes every four weeks, ensures I receive a comprehensive full-body workout while progressing at a comfortable pace. Recently, I faced a recurring issue with my shoulder. I reached out to Coach Shawn, and by the time I arrived several hours later, adjustments had been made to my program. I have never felt pressured to push myself beyond my limits; instead, I am consistently encouraged to keep moving forward. The owner Connor has a pulse on everyone that walks through the door and from what I have observed, he is an excellent role model for all the young athletes who are training there. We spoke with the owner about his programs. It's a really nice place. A little small. Wide range of age groups. Tucked away in a strip of businesses in Trenton. In addition to personalized training program, my son receives nutritional counseling. Son has been coming here for a couple months now and really likes it. He's getting stronger at a reasonable pace. Guys and gals in the gym that he's met are nice. Monthly fee is reasonable for what you get. Thinking about having my younger son start here in the spring. Very happy!
