I worked with Alex on this project and he made our dream of transforming our backyard a reality…read more Before this project we had horrible drainage in our backyard that resulted in grass dying and large puddles of standing water. Alex and his team were able to address all our issues and concerns making our backyard more enjoyable no matter the weather. The workers showed up bright and early to begin work over the course of the 4 day project and if any questions arose they would ask me before they did something. Which helped put my mind at ease. When it comes to the quality of work, Alex and his team are very professional in what they do. I will be reaching out to Alex for future projects. Thank you Alex and the men for all the hard work.

Lonestar reached out to me and was very vague in helping me asking me for the measurements which I didn't have giving me a huge price range. Ask me when I would like to get the project started and then got upset at me and asked me that he didn't call me to argue and I told him I don't know when I wanna get started. I would like a specific quote and I'd like to see the options. I thought you guys would come out and look at the place and he just became argumentative for no reason when I was trying to do a schedule an appointment and then he said that he's not getting along with me and hung up. He was rude and unprofessional!

If you want a company that will honor its warranty claims and come back after you pay to fix…read moreissues, you will want to look elsewhere. James (the owner) is NOT trustworthy and will make NUMEROUS promises which he has NO intention of keeping. After neary 5 months of being strung along and after MANY no shows and excuses - I am coming here to warn others. See below for the story if you want more info. The original job was done in Aug 2023 and was done on time and looked great. The price was less expensive than the other bids and the warranty which came with the install sealed the deal. Good customer service from James- at the time. The install took a few days with minor hiccups but overall things went well. Every so often we would find a weed pop up through the rock and turf. We were able to manage and pull about a dozen "sprouts" every week or so. Not a big deal. After a while, it started to become unmanageable and we opted to spray the weeds with weed killer. But, about a year or so later, it was apparent the weed barrier is not holding up. There were weeds everywhere. It looked like we had grass where the rock was installed. It was crazy. I reached out to James in April 2025 via email about the failed weed barrier and there was no response. I remembered that I had his telephone number so I contacted him to please have someone come out. After 2 no shows he finally had someone come out and he let me know the weed barrier did -INDEED- fail and he would have someone come out to remove and lay a thicker, commercial weed barrier which should fix the problem. That was in May. After another no show, he finally sent out one lone soul to tackle a job for at least 2 people. The poor guy had to pull weeds, shovel rock and lay a new weed barrier. He did not get 10 feet in 4 hours or so in the blistering Texas heat. He said he would be back the next week to continue. Leaving his equipment and the rock pulled back with the new weed barrier exposed. No one showed the next week. Weeks went by and new seedlings were growing through the NEWLY laid weed barrier. Let me add that I was speaking to James on the telephone quite often (during this time) who was constantly trying to "educate me" on the invasiveness of weeds and how the can "get under the weed barrier segments (which have an overlay of at least 6 inches) and travel and plant themselves in the dirt and spread to the surrounding area - under the weed fabric. OK! Then he tried to blame the crazy overgrowth on the neighbors -who carelessly "spread their grass seed all the way to my side of the fence" further adding to the problem. I should not forget that the grassy field behind my home likely spread it's grass spore to my area. OK! None of which would make a difference if -the weed barrier held up. So after numerous more no shows, I finally get 2 more guys to come out and do another 6 or so hours of work. They worked in a different area and laid 2 layers of weed barrier! They were able to get about 15% of the work done. After many conversations, and James reaching out to his past employee for guidance, he opted to come out guns a blazin' with some strong chemical to kill the weeds around the first week of June. He was worried about the strength of weed killer and what it could do with to puppy. He noted to keep her off the area for up to 72 hours. We agreed and he came out to spray the area. That was the last time we had someone come out and that was over 2 months ago. My wife thought I was crazy to give him so many chances - he did truly seem to want to help. We returned from a trip abroad after the 4th of July and he basically ghosted us. No follow ups, no more scheduled appointments with no shows, nothing. I texted him to see if we can get on the schedule and nothing. I sent him a final text on 8/15/25 and he said he would get me on the schedule for next week. I said he would have someone out on Wednesday 8/20/25. I knew he was full of it bc when he puts me on the schedule I would get a text message. I got a text message twice in the past and these were the 2 occasions when someone actually showed up.. He is a snake oil salesman at best. Steer clear and go with another company who will actually provide you a warranty. This is not one.

They showed up and due to personal circumstances, I didn't even remember telling them that. Trevor was great. He looked at what I wanted and had me a fair quote by that evening. He told me they would get me on the schedule for New Years Eve. The 3 guys got here early, made fast work of getting everything done, cleaned up after themselves and hauled everything away. I have to say they got it done a lot quicker than Trevor thought they would. The one advantage to it being a holiday. Would definitely recommend and use again. Quick service, fair price, great crew

Big Tex Turf / H&H Property Group - Full Review…read more Overall Product: A+ Home Office Customer Service (Pre-Warranty): A+ (with some notes below) On-Site Installation Team: A+ Sales Rep Communication & Follow-Up: D- What You Should Know Before You Book: If you have a sprinkler system, turn it off several days before install. This wasn't mentioned and caused delays. Be home during the install if possible--it's helpful to see how things are done and learn yard care tips. Ask for a brush-up service around 9-12 months after install. (Ours is still new, but we'll update once that happens.) Regret: We didn't upgrade to Cool Turf. It heats up just like the weather--something to consider if you live in a hot climate. Our Experience: We chose Big Tex Turf because they matched key items from another quote, had great reviews, and guaranteed completion before a big home event. We paid in full, so can't speak to financing. Our sales rep (Zach) started strong, but was hard to reach after booking. When weather delayed our install and left a large sand pile in the street (a safety and HOA issue), we couldn't get a hold of him--even the install team had trouble. I had to step in and offer a temporary tarp/cone solution myself. Tip: Texting a team member is more effective than calling. Calls go to the main office. Despite the sales rep gap, the installation team was excellent. They were efficient, professional, and finished the job in one day. Cleanup was great, and they came back as early as 7 AM to resolve post-install questions. 2-Year Follow-Up (as of 5/14/2025): Almost two years later, customer service remains solid. We've had a few normal turf issues and they've addressed every one quickly. The lawn still looks great--we're overall very happy. Final Thought: We recommend Big Tex Turf--just be proactive about communication and ask all your questions upfront. If you do that, you'll likely be very pleased with the results.
