There are few times that I have actually looked forward to work on out. Much less at a place wheee…read moreI have seen people get turned away for their lack of athleticism. Picture a 330 lb. man who has been an Allstate athlete about 15 years ago... that's me! I was a little wary when I decided to see how it would work out (pun intended). The coaches were and are some of my favorite people in the world. They base the intensity of the WOD to what you need individually. Modification is key and they are absolute experts at it. I am now addicted to cross fit and will be here for the long term. I've not just lost weight (8 weeks in down 15 lbs) but have started replacing it with muscle which is not helping me to burn even more fat! Can't recommend it enough.

But CFCL "raises the bar" above and beyond the others. The owner, Joe, has always been absolutely awesome to work with and it shows. He not only believes highly in his gym, but his community as well. The coaches, Joe, Jesse, Ryan and Troy are the ones I've worked with so far and are above and beyond the gold standard of coaches/mentors/trainers. They bring a lot to the table and their instruction is easy to understand and will work with you on anything you may or may not be comfortable with. This gym is next level and absolutely worth giving a shot. They have an amazing community, exceptional trainers, and you always get a workout you'll be proud of. As a "definitely needs work" 43 year old, I was a little skeptical about this style of workout, and concerned about working out with such exceptional athletes. After your first session you'll at CFCL you'll understand why the Crossfit community is crazy awesome. The folks their are extremely welcoming and supportive of anyone on any fitness level. Give this place a shot. You won't regret it.

For us, the lowest tier membership suited us and since that's what we're using the gym for, we've got few to little complaints. For the price, you get everything that the local "big gym" has, except the swimming pool. The locker rooms are large with private showers. There is a separate workout area for women only. They have trainers and classes, and even a smoothie bar. The movie theater is a nice unique feature, though I've never used it. Really the only complaint... my 11-year-old is not a fan of the kids care area. She tends to be more introverted and would love to just sit and do her own thing. Apparently it's hard to do that there. And with any gym, there's also the registration fees, maintenance fees, and annual membership if you want the lowest rate... but I think overall it is worth it for the basic tier.

Then when they found a Marine on the other end of the line decided to try to hassle my wife. I submitted a CFPB complaint against edge fitness. I then had to submit a payment complaint with my bank about edge fitness and block them from every charging me again. Then I had to submit a fraud complaint against their biller ABC fitness because they charged me old planet fitness bills when they started trying to harm a Marine veteran and his family.. big big mistake.

There are sanitizing wipes everywhere, and people actually use them. The indoor track is a huge bonus -- even Lifetime Fitness doesn't offer something like that -- and overall I'd compare this place to Lifetime in terms of variety and quality. I've been coming here for over 15 years, partly because I live close, but also because it's clean, reliable, and has a great selection of equipment. Don't let the bad reviews scare you off. At least in 2026, this place is absolutely a thumbs‑up.

Cardio tennis programs are fun too. The upstairs fitness areas have plenty of cardio options, and there is an indoor tracks around the exterior if you want to walk or run on the floor. There are several varieties of weight lifting machines and a large free weight area. Bonus space behind the free weights is open floor so ace and specialized machines for strength. There are always fitness trainers giving people a lesson or orientation so it's friendly to all levels of fitness. Saunas and pool are a bonus.

I have been in therapy off and on for over 30 years. I have had therapy thru Rush and NorthWestern…read more I choose Smith Therapy for the Aqua therapy and was somewhat satisfied with the therapy I was given. though I did feel it was a slower pace. I do have chronic problems and therefore I would do the recommended exercises at home, but I still wasn't improving enough for them to continue the aqua therapy and wanted to do floor therapy instead. Problem with this was there are bettwer equiped facilities than theirs. They wanted a credit/debit card to charge if I missed therapy and while it was not my intent to ever cancel it was bound to happen due to my various illnesses as well as, my not being able to move due to hip that needs surgery. I am not entirely surprised that they charged me for the missed session, what was surprising they just took $185 out of my bank account without any notice. Had they told me they were charging me I might have been able to make satisfactory arrangments with them, but I was not given that oppurtunity. I am on a fixed income. I pay my bills and on time, thus my decent credit rating. Taking the money without advising me that they were doing it was unnecessary and given my time working with them a betrayal of trust, and no trust in physical therapy, no progress. I do not recommend Smith Physical Therapy. I was disappointed with the progress I did not make with them and while I may bear some responsibility and also falls to therapists to find ways to help me progress. Finally there are much better therapy centers for floor work. Smith is illequipped. You will be better off at Rush in Lkae in the Hills, or Northwestern in Huntley. UPDATED RESPONSE 11.17 I received a call from Smith at 8 a.m. to discuss my complaint. It was explained to me that I had initialed a section of the paperwork allowing for the use of the debit card for balance without warning or statement. This was not pointed out to me, I do not remember seeing it, but then again I wouldn't see it as I am legally blind. I did discuss the possibility of this with my caretaker and while she was with me it was not pointed out and certainly not discussed with staff. The person I talked to this a.m. said the billing was for my portion of the Medicare 20% balance and NOT FROM MISSED SESSIONS. If I missed a session it was because of my uncontrollable bowls due to chronic colitus...I should have come anyway? You don't get much notice from this disease and I think the warm water in the pool would have made it worse..don't you think. In the meantime which is it sissed sessions (Denise's claim) or the 20% Medicare portion (as discussed this a.m.) Again the staff membr from this morning did say she had the authroity to refund the amount Smith deducted and bill me to plan my payment. I doubted if she had that authority, she claimed she did. After reading Denise's comment it does not appear she had the authority despite committing to the refund, like I said, until I could make better payment arrangements. Meanwhile since, you can not agree what you have taken money from my account for I suggest you let me know before you decide on billing me. Finally I will not request forwarding of my progress reports to Rush or NW Huntley. Lauren already suggested your agency was more ethicqal than these fine institutions. Rush No. 1 in the country for orthopedic care. The biggest pull for your spot is the pool and when your therapist decided I did not make the necessary progress to continue in the pool, I choose to fire you. In turn YOU JUST TOOK MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING. Oh, and I assume who I talked to this a.m. does not have the authority to rectify my issue. BE CAREFUL FOLKS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE VISION ISSUES, DO NOT EXPECT AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOU SIGN.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and they keep the place clean and running smoothly. Most of the users are courteous and accepting of people at all levels of fitness. Granted, it gets a little crowded as people come straight from work, but I usually work out after dinner or early in the morning, and I almost never have to wait for the equipment that's in my plan for that day. The only small change I'd recommend is a new playlist, since the current one seems to favor screaming (not singing) rockers. I've compared this with some of the other options, but because I value easy access to free weights, some of the other low-cost competitors weren't the right fit. So I'm very happy.
