My first time here. I can't wait to go back. I will tell everyone about this restaurant. I had the very best lunch. It was the BLT hamburger med well with the most delicious fries I have ever had. I asked for the pesto mayo on the side that was to be on the hamburger. It was delicious. I ate outside in the sun on this January day. The service was fantastic, kind, welcoming, attentive. My husband and I came here for my 39th birthday dinner. We live in Tupelo and have never eaten here because it's so pricy. As a special gift, we splurged. I have a genetic condition where I can't eat enriched flour (folic acid). Our waitress, Sierra, went above and beyond to have the dish I preferred made where I could eat it. I didn't even ask for it to be prepared differently, just asked for an easy substitute. She had the chef make a special batter just for me! This was so incredibly sweet, and then to top it off she gave me a free dessert since it was my birthday dinner! We had the best time and everything was perfect!! The service was good. I wish they had been a tad more friendly. But still, service was ok. Now, having said that, the price of the food was definitely over priced - which is why I gave 4 stars. The price of this food would be expected in the Bay Area of California. But definitely not here- unless is it is all organic...? Down to the food... Ok we ordered Fried green tomatoes for our starter. Let me tell you, we thoroughly enjoyed it! Next we had the street corn bisque and omg talk about tantalizing our taste buds!!! We were both a bit surprised by how good it tasted! Then our entrées: my husband ordered the shrimp and grits and he really like it! He said the shrimp were of good quality and cooked and seasoned perfectly. My blackened shrimp tacos were also great- Well seasoned with that amazing pineapple pico de gallo! Our cocktails were good! This place is amazing. I found it on our trip from Bama to Arkansa. We got the beet salad, the short rib dinner, and the gumbo. All were excellent. We sat at the bar and our bartender was great. We both were a bit disappointed with the seasoning on our fish as it was lacking. However when we asked for tartar sauce, we were told it would take a minute because it would be freshly made. My wife and I are traveling down the Trace for the next two weeks. Our first stop is in Tupelo. We decided to go to Forklifts tonight for supper. Wow, what a great choice! I had the Short Ribs and my wife had the Shrimp and Grits. Short Ribs were very good. The Shrimp and Grits were excellent. The Mississippi Old Fashion was the best I have ever had. We had an awesome southern brunch experience here! Leaving Birmingham en route to Kansas, we stopped in Tupelo looking for southern brunch and came across Forklift on yelp. We started with the biscuit basket, which came with six mini biscuits, butter, and blueberry jam. For our meals, I got the diner plate, choosing biscuit, fried chicken, fried eggs over easy, and the berry parfait. Eric R. got blackened catfish, turnip greens, and pepperjack grits. He was very pleased with his selection. I could not believe how much I got! The big biscuit came with more options for jams and butters, and I ended up trying the peach and tomato jams. Peach was my favorite. I spread peach jam on the biscuit and put the fried chicken and egg on it and it was awesome! The berry parfait was considered a side dish! I thought it was dessert so I overlooked that until our server suggested it. It was yogurt, berries, and granola. I definitely needed Eric R.'s help eating all of this. I also had iced tea and he had orange juice. Our server kindly filled his water bottle with cold water and his tea bottle with hot water for our road trip. I put the iced tea in my bottle too so we could stay hydrated and caffeinated on our journey. The atmosphere was really cool, and I liked all of the light fixtures. We found this place on a drive south to Florida. Stopped for lunch as the lunch crowd was clearing. Service was fast and friendly. Our tea and water glasses never stayed empty. Hubs got the catfish poboy and I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Bothe we're very flavorful and fresh. Breading on the hot chicken was a tad greasier than I like but the juicy chicken and flavor made up for it! Cole slaw was excellent as were the fries. Had the meat and 3 with grilled chicken and I must say, it was some of the best grilled chicken I've ever had. Staff was real nice and accomodating. Had been hearing about this place...we decided to try it. Limited menu, pricey, and service was well below standards. As foodies, and "chefs", as well as having been business, in food, service, and other industries, I can tell you that even if the food wasn't overpriced, people pay for the experience... remember, they could've stayed home, cooked their own food, for a 1/4 the price ...so, when you met with inattentive servers, (probably because they figured since we didn't order ALCOHOL, THEY WERE GOING MISS OUT ON HIGH TICKET TIPS, sadly, nothing could've been further from the truth... Not only do we routinely tip 20-30%, but we send cash to the kitchen, and the bar.... It's was a missed opportunity, and, honestly, just speaks to caliber of the help.... We would have spent more, but we couldn't get the waitress to show up...so when she did, we just wanted the check. It was busy, and lots of other servers were visible...just not ours. read more
