Best coffee in Boise. Outside of downtown it's hard to find good coffee, but this is the best. Easily. Things one may not like: - other have commented negatively on service. This could be valid based on expectations. I'd call the service very 'east coast' versus a typical Boise-friendly. I'm fine with it. - it is pricey, but so if Dutch Brother and that is terrible coffee... - they use a lot of insulated black rigged cups for their dine-in coffees. I've been to A LOT of coffee shops and this one really stands out in a crowd. It's clean, gorgeous, spacious, and has plenty of seats and places to put a laptop. Oh, and the coffee is damn fine. I had a cortado and orange cranberry scone. The portion size on the scone was double what I had expected. The coffee was bursting with a symphony of flavors. Also, the prices were surprisingly low too! I spied a stack on vinyls on the counter, so I have to assume they were spinning vinyl. The perfect place in the neighborhood to grab a coffee and light snack/breakfast. The interior is beautiful--high ceilings, lots of space to sit and chat, and large windows to let in natural light. I had the avocado toast and iced brown sugar latte. Both were the delicious. I will say, if you are extremely hungry, this might not be a big enough portion to suffice. I wish I would have gotten to try a croissant, but they were all sold out by the time I ordered (they looked AMAZING). The vibe is very boho chill and they had a lot of people just sitting back on their laptops busily typing along with their days sipping on a cup of joe. Kind of confused by the 2 and 3 star reviews, here's why. I can agree that the coffee wasn't piping hot upon my first sip but who wants to get burned and not be able to taste the rest of the coffee? NOT ME. I got the seasonal honey lavender latte. It had a really good taste it wasnt too strong where it just tasted like plant matter but was also strong enough to know what flavor it was. The cashier was very friendly he was the one who actually made the suggestion for the latte I got. I also got the avocado toast it had a nice zesty taste. Overall,great experience! I've had this on my list to check out for awhile. Stopped in last Saturday mid morning to warm up after a Lime ride. The decor is nicely done on the inside. Love all the lights, black and white accents, and the way the menu displayed is cool. The employees are so low-key, and acted like I was killing them to place a coffee order. No smiles, no welcome, nothing. (I don't expect over the top friendliness - but a little warmth would have been nice.) The coffee I got was okay, as other have mentioned - luke warm. The black cups feel good in your hands, and it was fun to watch people. I probably wouldn't make a special effort to come back in here. read more

Indigo & I have frequented Form & Function several times. Here is my attempt at being honest while being kind. The Excellent: The atmosphere. I love marble, natural lighting and clean design. This place checks all the boxes. The people who work here are low key, calm, & have a genuinely friendly disposition. Who could ask for anything more? The Food: The assortment of baked goods upfront is fine & I have no complaints. The avocado toast is delightful. I like the brightness the lemon zest brings to the party. I prefer bread with a soft crust for avocado toast but that's just a personal preference. Unless you plan on eating it like a pizza, you're going to need a steak knife. The Good Coffee. I have had their mocha which I enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet & I could taste the rich chocolate. Their iced hot chocolate is also delightful, just ask Indigo, she's an expert on iced hot chocolate. The Bad Coffee: I'd say it just depends on what you order & what you like personally. Twice I've had an acidic honey lavender latte here. I ordered it the second time just to give it another chance. I did my best to enjoy it & I won't be ordering it ever again. I was physically uncomfortable drinking it & I'm not fussy about coffee. It wasn't bright & florally, it was acid. Every time someone orders that drink, a unicorn dies. Charming and trendy coffee and cafe spot loved by some of Yelp Idaho's heavy hitters (Hi Amie!) - and I was introduced for a long overdue post lockdown catch up date. So glad I was able to discover it! The coffee is super tasty and the can pull a nice shot. Food bites are nom, and the avocado toast is a win. You can even just snag an egg on toast, which I did and enjoyed. They were out of some food items (like butter, for instance), and as we got there just as they opened, things were not quite ready for the day - but overall, loved the atmosphere, the setting and the offerings. Lattes are strange, but I am just not a big fan of the homemade but milks, they always taste a bit rancid to me. Super hipster though, so if that's your jam, you will love this shop. I love this place, but the service is too slow for me to give them 5 stars. Their espresso is absolutely delicious & I've been getting coffee from them at the Saturday market for years now. I was so excited to go to their shop, and it is absolutely adorable inside. Plenty of nice seating and natural lighting, and a great vibe for studying, doing work, or catching up with friends. I ordered a lavender latte and my friend ordered an Americano. Both were very tasty, but the service is extremely slow. We waited over 5 minutes for our drinks and it seems like the employees had no sense of urgency to churn out the drinks any faster. Delicious coffee (that is locally roasted), friendly staff, high vaulted ceilings, massive windows, plenty of seating, and located in a cool area of downtown--I love everything about this place! I've tried out Form & Function's coffee at other shops in the Valley, so I've been really excited about them opening up a storefront of their own! This shop stands out amongst the rest in the Valley for several reasons- The Vibes: Form & Function is a two-story shop with most of it's seating downstairs, and a small area of loft seating upstairs that overlooks the rest of the shop (if you've been to Bleubird, it's a similar layout, but much more open). Minimalist deisgn--white walls, wooden embellishments, with lots of plants and massive windows to give it a open and earthy feel. The shop was buzzing when I visited (Sunday morning of opening weekend) and I don't imagine that changing anytime soon--I have a feeling this will be a new highly recommended spot for Boise locals! The Service: So friendly and very quick for how busy they were. I ordered a cappuccino. When they called my drink order out, I walked up to the counter to pick it up and it looked fine, but the milk was a little bubbly and not quite as "fluffy" as milk usually is in a cappuccino. Without me saying anything or giving any sort of upset look, the barista who took my order looked at it and said he wanted to remake it. (I'm thinking it wasn't up to their standard, maybe?) About one minute later, they called out my drink again, and this time it looked beautiful and perfectly made! The Coffee: I love the flavor of their coffee--so much so that I bypassed adding any sweetener to mine (which is crazy...I usually add at least honey to it). Their espresso is strong and rich, but not overwhelming. As I said, I ordered a cappuccino. The milk was steamed to frothy perfection, and this paired well with the flavors in their coffee combined to make a creamy and bold cup of heaven.
